((I know it's not the best title in the world. So sue me. >O))
He was settling in to clan life, something he would not have dreamed to have done due to his bad experiences with clans. The white male sat down away from the dens, glancing out over the wasteland without a lot of thought. The summer sunlight lit up the land so that it possessed a certain beauty about it, though he was not going to be one to say so.
Gabriel yawned, eyes drifting closed. He could fall asleep easy, couldn't he? It was tempting, too much for him to resist the sweet lullaby of a gentle breeze. He lay down, stretching out and placing his head on his front paws.

Dozing comfortably in the shade of a low tree, Lilah crunched away at the remains of a kudu. The large antelope had already been thoroughly gnawed at by scavengers, but the bones were still whole. Her massively strong jaws cracked the long bones of the beast's legs easily, and she peeled out the pink marrow. It wasn't the same as a full meal, but it made a good snack.

A small crack reached his ears, causing his curiosity to keep him from sleep. The male stood, shaking his head to get rid of the last of the drowsiness, though the sun invited him to a nap in the grass. Gabriel glanced about, spotting some dark mass far away. Picking up his pace, he headed towards the tree, hoping the thing wasn't mean.

Absorbed in her meal, Lilah had failed to notice the other hyena nearby. The rustling grasses alerted her to his approach, and she leapt to her feet. She knew that she was on the edge of a clan's territory, but the lure of the apparently abandoned carcass had been to great for her. Standing stiffly, tail down in a non-threatening manner, Lilah waited for the other to see her.

Gabriel watched the thing leap to its feet, realizing that it was another hyena. This one didn't seem threatening, so he wasn't alarmed. "Hello." he hadn't met all the members of the Chumu clan, but this one didn't seem to be part of the clan.

Relaxing slightly, Lilah let out a short yip of greeting. The strange male didn't seem to be a threat, but she didn't want him bringing down the wrath of the clan females upon her for trespassing. She backed away from the carcass, indicating that he could have his fill. The male's clan had probably killed this beast, and she didn't want him to think that she was stealing their food.

He shook his head, indicating that she could continue eating. No hunger bothered him for the moment, and he saw no reason that a fellow hyena couldn't eat away rather than any other scavenger. "Go on. I don't mind."
