I was just thinking about Buffalo/Lancaster/Depew/Cheektowaga's music, art, and film scenes. And while i was thinking...they seemed very dull.
I mean, yeah, Cute Is What We Aim For(a band from Buffalo signed by indie label Fueled By Ramen) has had their debut cd out for over one month now, but that's the only local band i've heard of so far "making it big". And then, on to the film and art scenes. I know from being in school up here, that there are a ton of great artists from my CLASS. But anybody else who's grown up and gone into the world[that's from Buffalo]...i haven't heard of them making it. Same with directors. You never hear "Buffalo native Joe Bob has created a new summer blockbuster sure to dazzle you", or "John Doe's stunning scene of Delaware Park sold at an auction block today for $500,000."
So how 'bout we discuss:
Local bands, artists, and film makers you think could have a shot at making it, that are from the Buffalo area.
Or,
People you know who you think have potential to be great.

Have you ever heard of the Goo Goo Dolls? They are from Buffalo and really successful. They have a bunch of cds out and a bunch of hits. On a side note, I believe everyone has potential to be great. It's just what they do with that potential.

I think its rather annoying that whenever they do something here its all you hear about for weeks. Like when they shot here for a couple days for that a movie and everyone made such a big deal out of it. Sure there were some stars here but the scenes in the movie are probably going to total about 5 minutes. Thats partly why I want to go to NYC to live and go to college. There's so much more out there.

I think the movie you are talking about is Bruce Almighty. I can see your ponit about NYC but I would never want to go out there to live. Everything is so expensive.

No it wasn't because they didn't film any of it here. It had that guy from Capote in it.
So what if its expensive. Learn to live on ramen.

Arteries don't clog due to salt. Besides, you don't have to add the whole packet of flavor.

I'm sorry i'm human and make mistakes. stare And i believe that too, but with so many people leaving Buffalo, they're never going to unleash that potential HERE!
