As I'm sure you all know, this is a Classic Rock Guild. After all, you are in it. This means that this forum should be used to discuss classic rock. Here are some bands to get you started on some discussions.. If there's already a thread about a topic, I'll make the band name a link to that topic. Remember, the list is always growing! Please post any bands that you feel belong here or tell me to recategorize things.. I'm not that good with sub-genres.

They've been added. I don't know how I could have forgotten them.. We had to write a story about a previous life in English class, and I wrote about being a Deadhead. 3nodding

Why is Metallica on that list? You may like them, but they certainly don't fit into this category, or the "classic metal" category, either, since that's 70's bands. xp Hell, I see a hard rock band in the metal category, too. xp

I told you I'm bad with genres. I have always thought of Metallica as classic metal just because of the fanbase.. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Metallica, and Iron Maiden always seem to have the same fans. I'll take them away from the list. Also, if you're thinking of Deep Purple on the metal list, I can fight for that one. I have read many an argument as to why Deep Purple is considered metal.

Yes, I'm thinking of Deep Purple, as you guessed. Go ahead and fight it, perhaps I'm wrong, but the albums I'VE heard aren't metal. And meh....Metallica has SOME of the same fan base, however, most of the fanbase is mallcore, now. sweatdrop Either way, a band's fanbase alone doesn't determine if they fit into classic rock or not. I mean hell, mallcore kiddies usually LOVE Sabbath, does this mean they're a mallcore band, now? No. By the same token, Metallica isn't classic metal.

EDIT: I just thought of a HUGE mistake! You forgot to list progressive rock! gonk I'm damn sure that you'll be hard pressed to find somebody who doesn't see King Crimson or Rush as a classic rock band....

Well, when I said that, I was more explaining why I made that mistake more than arguing why they belong there. Sorry if it seemed to go the latter way. I knew I was forgetting some major categories.. And that would be one of them. Also, what about '80s hair metal? Should that be a separate category? I'm thinking stuff like Bon Jovi and Poison.

Hair rock has nothing to do with classic rock, so it shouldn't be a category, period, unless you want to make a "glam rock" category for Kiss, Alice Cooper, Slade, etc. It should also be noted that this means that Guns 'n' Roses should be OFF the list. xp

I suggest ELP, Kansas, and Pink Floyd for the Prog. list. Also Piunk Floyd for the psychedelic list. And CCR are NOT hard rock. If anything they are Southern Rock.

I didn't know where to put them, because they are kind of southern tock, but not really. It's hard to say. But I'll move them.

Please note that I've edited my post and those things should be taken into consideration, too. xp

And yeah...they are kind of a southern rock sound, so it would be best to put them there.(It's not a good idea to use hard rock as a generic category...) Also add Molley Hatchet to that list, and Camel the prog list, please. Oh....uhh, do you mind if I edit your list myself, since I (apparently) can? If so, that'd eliminate my asking you to do it, but I will give you a heads-up if I plan to.

Go right ahead. You're the one who actually knows the genres.. sweatdrop

I though of another category to add, but I totally forget it. Also, what about Yes? I've heard them classified as Symphonic Rock, but I don't quite know.

Ugh.. I don't know if my posts are showing up or what.

Anyways, I thought of the category, but I'm not sure if it belongs. New Wave? Like, the Police, the Cars, etc etc.
