Hmm, neat . . .
So, I've seen this for awhile, but just recently started paying attention to it.
Has anyone else noticed how utterly stupid and contradictive religious anarchists are?
I mean, anarchy is all about not conforming to a "higher power". Yet, all religion is, is conforming to a higher power.
I just don't get it.
What do you people think?

Wait...There's religious Anarchists? I am guessing that they don't believe in conforming to any higher power that isn't God. I guess it could make sense if you use the word Anarchy to mean a state that is able to completly govern it's self, instead of in the traditional no rules no government at all sense.

I'm religious, but not an anarchist. I guess people think it's alright to be a religious anarchist because technically that sort of "higher power" doesn't directly affect our lives. You don't see some Christian punk going "Man, thou piggies are smiting me down." or anything.
I believe in religion because I think in the world we live in today, we need something to have faith in and something we think loves us no matter what. Even if it turns our there is no God/Yaweh/etc. I'll know it won't be a waste because it's nice to have a feeling like that. 3nodding
On the other hand, anarchy is just dumb, because I know people are too greedy and unruly to use it properly. Same thing could probably be said for religion tho.

Religious anarchists, eh? Have you run into one of these fine fellows yourself? Just curious, as I've never met, or even heard of such a thing. What I love is religious punk bands (and I use the most sarcastic sense of the word 'love'). Religious punk, like the following bands... http://www.myspace.com/fbs FBS's website is down, but a while ago, I read their lyrics. One of their songs was about how Jesus Christ loves rebels. Mm. I've also heard the Havoc is Christian, but I've not heard or seen anything to confirm that for myself, so it may be just a rumor. I have nothing wrong with someone being spiritual. I just find the nature of Christianity (and most religions) to be opressive.

That's why I choose to practive privately instead of going to church. It's not the faith itself that's oppressive, it's the Church. They're the ones who make all the rules and whatnot. Religious music, I really don't have a problem with. It's a way to reach teens who don't like studying or going to church, which is actually an alright concept I guess. There's a band around Jersey called the Venereal Exchange who claims to be Jesus-fearing and sing about him, blah blah blah, but I've never paid attention to their lyrics to see if they do, and about 75% of the band members are Jewish. o_O

Jill Juvenile It's a way to reach teens who don't like studying or going to church, which is actually an alright concept I guess. Yeah, but neo-nazi music does the same kinda thing. D: But I guess so does any kind of band with a political stand point.

oh, wow. this isn't a topic I can really relate to. I'm not really a religious person, nor do I really know anybody who shares my views. It would be really nice, but here in small-town, texas, everybody is a religion-fanatic. the other day, when my mom dragged me out of bed to go to church with her, the preacher was talking about people who are reaching into other religions, like taoism, for spiritual release. he was talking about how everyone should feel welcome in the church, and I realized he was staring at me. he is a nazi, almost. he was talking to my mom about my baptism, and a duet with the pianist (i play cello, my mom expects me to be another Yo-yo Ma.) I am doing no such thing. no way. but back to the topic.
have you ever thought of the way the Religious anarchists actually view religion? they could just be obsessed. like one of my friends from when i was younger. she would try to get us to come to church with her (me and my other friend, don't remember her name) and this girl would get us bibles, and hymnals. she said we would go to hell if we didn't come with her to church, and i looked at the way her parents had raised her. they were very religous, and they would stand out on the street corners handing little copies of the ten commandments out to every passer-by. The anarchists could just be copying the way they were brought up.

religious anarchists ehh, sounds like an oxymoron to me, but it makes sense... anyway, the way i see things its just that they don't want to follow all those opressive traditional-mainstream religions that take your 'freedom' away, so they go off and choose something that differs or goes against that oppresive church crap.
(you might not agree with this but its just that i don't trust the church(s):p)

Now, I don't have anything against religious people in general, it's the ones that talk about it that I don't like. And the ones that illogical arguments.
Well, I live in the suburbs in Texas. I'm surrounded by bord, religious-fanatic, wannabe anarchists. These people are just plain annoying. They'll talk about wanting equall rights and how screwed up amerikkka is, then will start sayin' I'll "burn in hell" for being a f*****t.
They think they're open minded because they call themselfs punk and christians.

meep! what part of texas? because the way you describe the people you live around, it reminds me of the bible-thumpers i live around. it seems like i'm constantly being told tho be a normal, god-fearing person. i don't do "normal". if i were normal, my father wouldn' be a child molester. i wouldn't be on the witness list. i could be a normal, god-fearing teen. but nooo. i had to be screwed up by those very same bible-thumping anarchists.

i hate the term god, just the fact that there is someone who punishes and makes his so called "justice", which is a bullshit term to begin with. i guess i only respect buddhism because its more of a philosophy than a religion.
you cant live by guidelines, you should just try to do the best you can to deal with reality without taking the blame to a god or higher being. do what seems right, and stop doing what's wrong. teach and help people out of ignorance.
yup.
and if there /has/ to be someone who created us, who cares? youre not gonna get the answer any time in this life.

First of all, Cllo-Chan, I believe the term is "Bible-HUMPERS". At least, that term seems to piss people off more. xd
Anyway, it depends on what you mean by "religious." If by religion, you mean organized religion, then yes, I agree with you. Mostly because I despise organized religion. I went to my uncle's funeral today, and I couldn't figure out whether they were mourning my uncle, or Jesus Christ. There's a certain point where you just gotta say, "You know what, I need a life. It's not healthy to obsess over anything this much." I think that point comes when you spend more time singing praises than you do eating, drinking, attending to hygiene, and sleeping combined. If these people can memorize the entire bible, can you imagine what they could do with that intelligence if they actually USED it? Though, that's kind of a scary thought, because if they're not wasting their time praising Jesus Christ, they're preaching his "teachings" to "wayward souls" like ourselves.
Personally, I am religious, just not... Christian. Or even close. I've developed my own religious beliefs, as opposed to what is happening today with everyone just letting everybody else tell them what their beliefs are.

That's the same thing that happened at my uncles funeral, Newatreides. The thing that pissed me off most was that my uncle wasn't even religious, his wife was. And she was always trying to convert him. It was like she was, like every other religious person I know, trying to convert him to the end. It's just annoying.
What exactly are your views? I'm just wondering.
