I was experimenting with breakdancing videos and songs from my Realplayer playlist, and I decided to try Jpop (yes, I was bored). One of the songs was actually pretty good with breakdancing, surprisingly. What are some music styles that don't seem to work with breakdancing, but sometimes do?

punk rock, though I've found if anything "refused" is one of the better bands due to their specific speed etc.

the real difference is you have to find the beat in the cymbal crash's, less so the actual bass drums or anything of that nature.

(take a listen to "lets go crazy" by "refused" and you might get the same idea i did)

Tchaikovsky.
I'm serious; I saw the Urban Nutcracker here, and there was this one scene where this guy was doing pop n' lock to the music from the scene where you first see all the presents (he was one of the toy soldiers). It was ******** awesome the way it goes together. The music really gave it a sense of urgency.

I tried dancing to thats life by Frank Sinatra, but it didn't work out. Then we tried Kenny G, and it still didn't work.
But alot of dancehall and reggae works well.

Try breakbeat, such as Crystal Method, Prodigy, Propellerheads, and Chemical Brothers.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find it on either Google video or on Youtube. Try just googling "urban nutcracker," there's a video of something on the balletrox website. My Quicktime hates me so I don't actually know what's in the video, but you might want to take a look.

Actually, I've seen people throw down sick a** break moves in their "floor punching" routines.
It's pretty bad a**.

Propellorheads, yeah, especially their song "Hey Big Spender" feat. Shirley Bassey.

other random goodies:
-some Bubba Sparxxx, like "Back in the Mud"
-Dead Prez "Hell Yeah" might be a little slow and light, but the beat pattern is good, so you can up the base and the tempo to get a really good track
-Dilated Peoples "Clockwork", again slower, or seemingly so. It's actually quite effective.
-Kool & The Gang
-Styles of Beyond, like "Muuvon" and "Superstars"
-Cypress Hill "Another Body Drops"
-If any of you have seen Ocean's 12, the laser scene with the capoeira has a great track: "A La Menthe Nikkfurie" by David Holmes
-Will Smith, either with Jazzy Jeff or his recent albums, but a lot of songs on there are good for dancing, and some even good enough to break to.

yup, random is best, lol
