The Old Church

Even the cutthroats in the forest don't dare to come here. It's said that the place is run with evil spirits who were executed during the Burning Times for false accusations of witchery. Then in the civil war, a group nuetral to the war captured both union and confederate soldiers by which to execute. In the graveyard there are hundreds of markers, but there are said to be hundreds more not even marked. They even believe there are still dead bodies inside the church from those who tried to go inside and died from fright of the ghosts.

From the forest he had started to make his way to the Church, having heard stories about it, forced his curiosity. He had left the slave hall only to wonder about the Mansion, whispers of the building had managed to catch his interest. He smirked as he approached the Church. He gave a small growl once the presence of another creature entered the vicinity, and within moments he was positive he wasn't alone. He placed his palms against the door, nails scraping the paint off the doors as he pushed them open. Once he was inside the building the doors were closed, keeping the small breeze out.

He began to walk down the isle, looking into the rows of benches, taking small mental notes as he went about, wings fluttering behind his body. He gave a small hiss as the presence grew a bit stronger, his white tail curling around his ankle as he walked. He continued his stride to the front of the building, stopping when he found a small book. He bent over and hissed once more as it flipped open. At that moment Isis knew he shouldn't have been there.

From the beams that hung high above the ground she jumped down. Landing on the alter, sitting as the pink wings fluttered around to find their place among her body. "Wha'cha doing?" She asked in a gentle tone, a small giggle ending the sweet sentence. After those words were spoken she jumped down, lifting the tattered ends of the short, black dress. She adjusted it to her back and walked to the front bench, jumping up onto it with grace. She giggled once more and looked over the dragon boy, nodding as her body shifted to the very top of the bench. Lilly balanced over it as her wings fluttered, and for a moment she lost her balance, falling before her wings caught her body.

"That could have hurt." Lilly stated in the same tone she always used, seating herself on the bench, and petting over the wings. She looked at the floor before picking up a leaf, her nails slowly began to glide over it, the edges turning a soft green color. "Why are you so far away from the Mansion?" She questioned, glancing up at him with her bright blue eyes, the color changing into a light green.

Isis jumped when the girl appeared, panting softly out of fear. After he took time to regain his breath, he huffed. "And what do you think you're doing?" He asked as his tail flicked around on the floor, the white wings flaring up at the sight of her. A hiss started in the back of his throat, growling forming as well. The noises stopped as the girl lost her balance, his body lurching forward, an attempt to catch her. He huffed once more as her body lifted up, his eyes narrowing at the girl.

"Which is why you should be careful..." He growled out at her, still glaring as the hiss started. "That is none of your business!" He hissed, still growling at the fairy girl. "And I could ask the same for you, sadly... I will be leaving. I was intending to find a place to think, and it's not here." He said in a cold tone, turning to leave the Church. After he had left the grounds he began to make his way back to the mansion, stopping for a moment at the kitchen, hearing commotion.

Kaleb was wandering aimlessly from place to place when he happened upon an old, lonely church. The door was partially cracked open. He peaked in, finding it empty. This appeared to be a good place to hid out for a while. He slipped through the opening into the eerie building.

Old pews stood among cobwebs, dirt, and parts that nature had taken back. The soft light of dusk filtered through the clouded windows. Kaleb's foot steps echoed through the church. He hummed to himself quietly, not any particular tune, and collapsed down on the first bench by the alter.

He looked ragged and tired. He felt dead and caved sleep. He curled up, hugging himself. He continued to hum, it made him feel safer to hear something other than the soft wind outside. Like when a child hears a dry tree branch scratching against their window and the safest place to be in hidden under the covers singing an old familiar lullaby . His eyes closed and he rocked back and forth. He wanted sleep to take him, but didn't trust his surroundings enough to encourage it.

His hair laid over him like a black shawl covering his shoulders and trailing down his back. His body quivered so slightly that only the trained eye could tell. He put his head on his knees listening for any sound outside.

((>w< Here I am!))

Victor entered the Old Church with an easy gait. He walked as if he came there every day. Which would make sense, because he did just that. With practiced movements, Victor made his way over to a pew towards the back of the church and gingerly sat down near the aisle. He eased his leather longcoat off his shoulders and draped it over the back of the pew beside him. With dark delicate hands, he brushed some stray raindrops that were clinging desperately to his black hair away. He pulled off a pair of expensive looking leather gloves that matched the black of his coat and hair. Then, finally, the young man folded his hands together and placed them on top of the pew in front of him. With a deep and world weary sigh, the troubled young man leaned forward and allowed his forehead to rest on his hands while his mouth moved in with silent pleas and worries.

Victor was praying. One of the few illogical things he did in his day to day life. Though Victor found himself to be a disbelieving person, he had never shaken his belief in God. However, he did find himself ashamed of it. It was very out of character for him. So, he would come to a sacrilegious building and pray to a God he was ashamed to believe in.

[[Yay]]

Kaleb heard someone enter. He tensed, ever muscle in his body hard as a rock. He held himself tighter and waited, not daring to breathe. Quickly it became apparent that they hadn't noticed him. He relaxed and decided to lie down out of view until they finished doing whatever they were and left.

There was a very soft sound, barely audible, a voice. He couldn't make out the words, but it sounded like a man's voice. It was drown out when the wind picked up.

As he crept down on the pew, making little noise, he under estimated just how narrow it was. He wasn't careful enough. His leg slid off and hit the floor.

Victor's head snapped up at the deep, yet loud bang that sounded as Kaleb's feet banged onto the floor. His already dark brown eyes seemed to loose some more of its color, becoming mostly black. His brows knit together and Victor slowly stood so that he had a better view of the interior of the church. Nothing moved for a long, tense moment. It seemed that neither of the occupants of the old dilapidated building took breath. The wind whistled through the cracked windowpanes.

Slowly sitting back down, Victor allowed himself to relax a little and leaned back against the back of the pew. He ran a pair of tired hands over his face and then sat back once more. "If you are there, I suggest you come out now, or I'll more than happily inform the authorities to come after I leave and pick you up," Victor announced in a loud voice.

Kaleb cursed himself, the noise was louder than he thought. It seemed to echo off the four walls. He was laying flat on the pew now and his heart thudded in his chest. He was sure it could be heard if standing next to him.

This man was not a slave, which automatically made him a danger to Kaleb. He had to think quickly. Could this man be trusted, or would he be better off in the hands of the police? The police had never saved him before, but just because the man prayed didn't mean he was safe. He hoped to get a glance of him by peeking over the pew. He was like a cornered rat. This wasn't the man he used to be. He scanned and his eyes saw a figure towards the back of the church.

And so she said, with arms crossed tightly over her bosom. Rai released a soft sigh and kicked her legs about over the soft layer of dirt. The place was a mess, but it was expected, the place was old. For but a moment Rai paused, deciding if she should really violate the 'holy' church any further. "Hello" she muttered ina soft tone, the sound barely piercing the quietness of the place. "Man, its creepy here." She whispered while glancing from pew to pew.

Moments after she had spoken the words to the dull, and sheltered place around, would her hands slide up her arms. A shiver passed down her spine, and it made her gasp, even pull a soft moan from her lips. Rai quickly bit into the fleshy part of her painted lip, taking hold of the still sound around her. Once again did she begin to take steps into the church, pausing to watch for any movement.

With a heavy sigh she quickened her pace, walking to the third pew, taking a seat in the dust. She shivered and folded the torn, and battered wings, knowing all too well that they were in the way. She crossed her legs, letting the leather of the boots protect her leggings, her skirt slightly torn from fleeing the woods. She smiled and after a long while, relaxed in the sanctity of the quiet church.

Kaleb heard another figure enter the church. Before he shrunk down he caught a glance at her. She looked as if she'd crawled out of the woods with him, but it still didn't mean that she was safe. She was close behind him and he wouldn't be able to hide for long. He sat up slowly. His bare, cut up, skinny torso was exposed to her sight. His hair was the only thing about him that wasn't in disarray. "Hello?" he questioned warily.
