I would like to know the guild's opinions on homo-, pan-, and bisexuality. If you are any of the above, was it hard for you to accept? How did you reach the conclusion of your sexuality?
PostPosted: Fri Apr 29, 2005 9:25 pm

I consider sexuality a non-issue. It makes me kind of sick that so many people hate people who are homosexuals when I consider someones sexuality at the same level as thier gender or skin color. Its a form of prejudice and hate that stems from an attribute which honestly doesn't change the person and in which they cannot help. Its really quite sad.

As for pansexuality...eheh, I disagree with its conspets. Your pansexual is my "wanna be trendy" bisexual.

I, myself, am heterosexual BTW.

I personally, regardless of how I feel, could not be, or allow myself to act on any tendencies towards relationships with women. This IS due to my understanding of Biblical law being in disagreeance with the act of same-sex relations.

However. I don't hate people who are bisexual, homosexual, or pansexual. The Bible calls us to be loving toward all, and not to judge each other. The way I see it, if they are going to hell because they're gay, then I'll let God make that decision, it's his and his alone to make. As such I can't assume what God will decide, nor do I have an opionion on whether or not the ought to go to hell. I don't tell anyone they're going to hell. Would you tell someone who just lied to their parents that they were going to hell? neutral Most people wouldn't. Granted, they are two very different things (lifestyle vs. single act) but... regardless, telling someone they're going to hell is both judgemental (deciding yourself as the authority on their eternity), and hateful.

I just recently learned what pansexual means, so I can't add much in that regard. sweatdrop

I'm bi. Once I figured it out, it didn't bother me at all. What bothered me was when people started taking cracks at my religion because of it. Jesus and gay are not mutually exclusive.

Everyone says that the Lord hates homosexuals and stuff. He doesn't hate them, he just doesn't like their choice.

(No offence if anyone is homo- or bi- sexual.)

That's the thing, though... it's not a choice. It's something they are born with... they can't help it. I mean, did you choose to be heterosexual?

As much as I agree with Flautist, as long as no one discriminates on someone because of their sexuality, they have the right to hold that opinion.

No, I can dig on what he said, even though I'm far from straight. Even though it's not a choice, I can definitely see where he's coming from. I see God as the ultimate parent figure, and I can see where the ultimate parent could get really frustrated with his/her kids, even if it's not rational.

What gets me is when people use it to discriminate against other people. If I were a parent, I could get over something that my kid coudn't control, but if my kid chose to hate another one of my kids for that reason, I'd be *really* upset.

I completely back you there.

I don't believe it's a person's choice to have tendencies towards people of opposite gender, but I do believe it's a person's choice whether or not to act on those inclinations.

Besides that, VERY few people are 100% bi or straight, and thus, if God said to be a lesbian, then I would be. Simple as that. But since he says no... then I choose to find things in males that I like. n.n

Besides that, Paul says it's better not to marry and only to love the Lord, so if you can't find men attractive... (or women, if you're a guy, obviously), then worship the Lord and stay single.

All I'm saying is there /is/ choice involved, whether or not the tendencies are natural/scientifically proven to be genetic/whatever. whee heart

gonk Now that I can't dig. It's like they say, "If God didn't want us to masturbate, He'd've made our arms shorter." God gave us sex drives, and I'm not just going to shut mine off just because I dig chicks.

Oh hell, this is going to go Adam and Eve on me. I can feel it in my bones.

I dunno, I think what I said is much more logical than that... sweatdrop But you're entitled to your opinion, and I am to mine. I'm sorry you don't agree. sweatdrop

I meant no offense ^^;

My motto is love the sinner, hate the sin. Homosexuality is against G-d's Word, men and women can recover from homosexual urges just like an alcoholic or drug addict with the LORD's help.

Here is a great web source: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/rossuk/h-exgay.htm

If for some reason heterosexuality was considered wrong, would you be able to "recover?"

It's not an illness, it's an instinct. A natural drive. It's ingrained into the body's chemistry.

Also, off-topic question: Why sensor God's name?

It's a Jewish tradition. The idea is that God's name should not be desecrated and censoring the name is preventing that.

I'm a Messianic jew we write it G-d out of Respect for the Name, and we don't write it where it can be profaned or erased.

back to the topic, I myself had homosexual urges, but the LORD healed me of it.
The world is getting to the point where it considers heterosexuality wrong, but I'm not worried about what the world thinks I look to what the LORD says in His Word.

Well, I have had lesbian urges before... that doesn't mean that I was lesbian, it just means that I was a horny, curious teenager. I didn't need "cured" of it, because I was not truely homosexual. I could be way off base here, but I would guess that something of the sort is going on with MOST (no all) of the people who claim to have been "cured" of homosexuality. (I put cured in quotes because I don't like using that word, because it implies that it's some sort of disease or illness.)

I agree. Most people are not 100% gay or straight and a lot of teenagers have feelings for the same gender once or twice.
