It's the Tocou World
This is what we know so far:
Northern most is a curious mountain range
directly south of that is The Forest of Nessuno Ritorno
To the west of the forest is a desert
To the east of the forest is a savannah
To the southeast of the forest is a swamp
The swamp is surrounding two volcanos
East off the coast of the savannah are two islands
at the base of a mountain is a mysterious village
xD I love the cheesy adjectives I stuck in there.
I always wanted to be a gameshow host ;D

This is:
Hakuna Mapato is famous for this very forest, back when humans roamed the island this very forest was said to shift about and get the island natives lost. Many natives that entered the forest were never seen again.
It's been a long time since humans were alive on this island and thier bones are scattered not only through the forest, but the whole island.
Unlike the old island natives, Tocou have an easy time navigating the forest, because the same deep magical powers that once got the island natives lost in the trees assist the also deeply magical Tocou.
There are several places written about in ancient hakuna mapato folklore that are within the forest. Once these places were written as sacred, but today they are normal gathering places for Tocou.
