Remembering my Silver Lake (christian camp) days, I was remembering how every year, near the end of our week, my retreat would have a special gathering. We'd go into the outdoor chappels (unless it was raining) and we'd all tell stories, and just be together, sing our favorite hymns, and just be with God. We'd then be given a blank piece of paper. and we'd be told to go to our favorite spots and come back in an hour. We were to jsut be alone with God and think. After we returned we'd be told to fold it into a cross. At this point we'd be led through a prayer. It was very long, and not everyone wanted to participate. Eventually we were asked if we wanted to take God into our lives, and let him lead us. If we wanted to have him be our Lord, Father, and Friend. we would repeat it allowed and ask him to accept us, love us, and we would give ourselves to him. I always got emotional, as did others. I could go into more detail, but this is long enough. I was just curious, has anyone else ever had the opportunity to give themselves to God, promise him you will let him lead you etc?

Yeah. I've gone to church pretty much all of my life, and I was finally baptized about two years ago. ^_^; When I finally realized that He really was the Way, the Truth, and the Light...It was an awesome experience...~

I have been saved if that is what you are asking. But sometimes I want to do things my way. But I do attend every church function I can and help out where necesarry. Even if I down right hate it. Such as at VBS. Last year I was stuck into Crafts. I swore I would never do it again. Why? We made Birdhouses, 'nuff said. But guess what needed help the most this year? Crafts.

I helped out with VBS a while ago. I did crafts a few years... the worst is when the kids use glue *dies* I also did Music every year i helped out. I taught music cause no one else wanted to, and i was the only one who could sing who volunteered. I also taught the 3rd grade, and i assisted in the second grade.
Being saved is very similar to what i went through so yes ^_^
I do everything for my church, i don't know what would happen to me without my church, or the people in it.

You can. All you have to do is go to a quiet place, somewhere you feel safe, and can be at piece with God. Pray to him, Pray with him, and then just offer yourself to him. Open yourself up to him and tell him that you are willing to follow his path, and have him guide you. Let him know you want ot walk with him, and be his follower. He is already with youright now you just have to make sure you are open to his love and understanding.

I already told myself that is where i am to be married, and i don't know what my husband to be will say when he finds out, but it means alot to me, i grew up there with people who understood me and took me under their wing... Its a really great feeling. The church I grew up in was pretty good up until they got a new preacher. He was not a good preacher at all. He was obsessed with getting more youth and he did, like ten of the kind that would just go because their friends went and their was food afterwards. And in the process we lost 30+ regulars. And his sermons were not good. They were more like self help kind of things. One was "When NOT to trust an apology." I mean, doesn't the bible tell us to forgive everyone? We kept going because of our friends and we knew of no where else to go. But finally, things kept getting worse and we stopped going. Friends kept wondering where we were or if something had happened so 6 moths or so later, we returned, but things were worse. We more or less slept through the main part of church, the sermon, and then went to Sunday School. But then things kept getting worse and we left again. And then the part that God himself must have planned. We had this neighbor across the alleyway, she was a grandma and here grandkids lived about ten minutes away. He would go to his granparents like two times a month and we would hang out at leaast one of those days. Then, his mom had a baby, and she couldn't take care of it during the day because of work. It became a nuisance to drive ten minutes, drop off the baby, drive ten minutes again and hope your boss doesn't yell at you for being late. So the grandma moved closer to them so it wouldn't be as bad and then, not even a month later someone else moved in. Their names were David and Amy. They had just been hired at a church as Youth Pastors and they saw that house first, loved it and bought it. After a month or so we got to know them and one night they said they were having a Youth thing at our house and me and my siblings were welcoms to come. I didn't want to, but I did because my mom made me. Well, long story short, We go their for everythig except Sunday night Service.
