Mmm, mmm. I am a Daft Punk junkie. My entire family is. We're all so addicted to it, my mum had a local street artist come and paint the lyrics to "Digital Love" on the walls of our entrance. Um...so I'm not going to make this look anybetter. Feel free to edittt or whatever.

Daft Punk is quite a good group. They have a really nice sound to them. Though I do think they have changed quite a bit since the "Homework"/"Discovery" days into the "Human After All" world of now. I still enjoy "Human After All" Some of my favorite songs are on it. Yet, I always get the feeling it is a bit lazy and rushed album. This also has to do with the fact that many believe the only reason they pumped it out was to meet a contract agreement. Discuss.

Some good songs, but let down by lazy production work and a general lack of originality and freshness. The first single from that album, Robot Rock, was a short loop taken from Breakwater's Release the Beast with a few vocoded and synthesized parts added to it (not that they haven't done anything like that before, listen to Edwin Birdsong's Cola Bottle Baby and figure out which DP song uses it as the basis for the entire track. Then again, I suppose this sort of thing isn't uncommon in house music). For most of the album ... eh. Aside from a couple of exemplaries, nothing really that exciting. The singles and their remixes were the shining moments, but the album could have been significantly better. That said there is a live action DP movie based on that album coming out in the near future, so somebody must have liked it!

I'm deffinatly got a better vibe from there singles then the album as a whole. I still haven't seen all of Interstella 555, so I need to hurry up if another is going to come out. My mum got to see them live at Coachella this year! From what I hear it was the most amazing thing ever, suprisingly enough they didn't play Digital Love. HA. Plus, check out these action figures of them: ManuelThomasWe own the boxset. pirate

Alot of DP's tracks bring a smile to my face because they are tied to a lot of good times. Their "Human After All" album was a bit of a dissapointment though, even though I can't help but dance in my car to technologic.
Action figures are sweet.
Oh to the dude with the lyrics of Digital Love painted in the entrance of his house....TAKE SOME PICTURES DAMNIT! That sounds sweet.

Since I don't actually live with my mum I'll have to wait until I see her again (and remember to bring a camera).

now this is where i guess i differ and my little bit of.. well "punk rock ethic" comes out in my music taste.
I liked human after all quite a bit, because it wasn't all polished and over produced, and not as "poppish" is happy, which was the feeling i got from journey. I found journey far to clean in many aspects, there was no imperfection to the sound and instrumentation they used that i could really tell, and that was what really got me to like them with the first couple of songs i heard long long ago when homework was all they had. Da Funk is still one of my favorite songs despite the massive play it has gotten and probably always will get. I liked it because it felt like something somewhat home made and slightly street level.
but eh... what can i say, i don't tend to like the big name DJ's production stuff because its not risky enough. dramallama

I also like human after all alot. It personally had more of a n underground feel to it. But yeah, I can't say there is some stuff from DP that I DON'T like. confused

I heard that it only took them 6 weeks to record the whole album, and it shows.

Interstellar 5555 is really an awesome piece of work. Hell, before seeing it I didn't mind discovery that much. Now I kinda like it a little more.
