I'm sure some of you prolly have a sword, or other weapon that means alot to you.

for me, it would be my katana. i made it as part of my persona back when i took it up. now, after the blade being replaced multiple times, it's time to retire it. it's old, the core is getting brittle, and it's just been repaired way to many times.

after i replaced the blade for the 8th time, i promised that it would be the last time.

so, at the next local event, i'll be skipping the revelry for a moment alone to retire the blade. I plan to give it a proper funneral by fire.

it's going to be hard.

Surely parting from a loyal blade needs a sacral moment of silence.

I have retired my first javlen from dagorhir. He is now a kendrick-only weapon. He will be that way till there's nothing left to beat kendrick with. He's retired, but that doesn't mean he has to die.

Toge, maybe it does need to die. I mean, how would you feel in the swords place. It was created to fight. Its entire exsitance it spent slaying the enemy. Now you want him to take the sword, keep it and not use it. I think what he plans to do with the sword is the right thing. I mean, a warrior would rather die on the battlefield then grow old and out live its usefullness. So why wouldn't a sword?

I never said that what he did was wrong. I just stated that my jav has retired from the war he originally was in and is now bent on killing you. I know that swords can and sometimes need to be retired from fighting altogether. I respect that.

i understand how you feel, i have a spear (amtgard) which both the blade (three foot stab and slash) and the butt spike (1 foot stab) have been replace more times then i can remember. I have finaly retired the spear and is now mounted on the wall of my garage as a relic of the past. It was my first hoplite spear, and the best spear i have ever had.
