I started this thread so we can chat about Final Fantasy, my personal favorite game series.
Completed: I, IV, V, VII, IX, X, X-2
Own: I (Ps1 version), II (Ps1 version), VIII, IX, X, X-2, Tactics
Say what you wish about the series, whether it be good things or things you don't like about it. Everyone is encouraged to their opinion, so I encourage you to say yours about it.
On a side note, I will be more than willing to help any of you people with anything you have to ask about it, whether it be tips or you just want to clarify something that's been bugging you.

I own VII, VIII, VIX, and X.
My favorite is VIII.
It has the best story, in my opinion.

My favorite is I.
I loved everything about it. The gameplay, the story and everything else. It's a classic and a very loveable one at that.

The story of I:
Four warriors of Light come to the kingdom of Corneria. The king mentions that his daughter, Sara, is kidnapped by a former knight of his named Garland. They go rescue her and the king replays them by building a bridge to the continent.
They travel to the town of Provoca and beat a gang of pirates lead by their captain, Bikke. Bikke gave the warriors his ship and they then travel to the Elf Village (I forgets its name) and sees that the prince is in a coma from a speel by the dark elf king, Astos. They travel to an abandoned castle and see a former king who wishes to have his Crown back. They travel to a marsh and retrieve it, bringing it back to the king who tricked them. The king is actually Astos.
The Light Warriors defeat him and retireve the Crystal ball. They take this to an old witch who it actually belonged to. She repays them with a powerful waking potion which they bring to the Prince and he awakens. The Light Warriors are given the Mystic Key, which can open locked doors.
Heading back to Corneria, they retrieve T.N.T and heat to a village of Dwarves. One drawf opens a passage for their ship with the T.N.T, allowing the Warriors to head to Melmond.
On arrival, they see that the earth is rotted and the village mentions that the Earth Fiend, Lich, is responsible. They head to a cavern and meets up with one of Lich's minions and defeats him, obtaining a Ruby. Hearding to another cavern, they see a Rock Golem, who will let them pass if they give him the Ruby. They do and heads to a hermit named Sarda, who gives them an Earth Rod. Heading back to Lich's cavern, they head deeper in, soon meeting Lich himself. They soon defeat Lich and restore the Earth Crystal.
They next head to the village of Crescent Lake. Meeting with the Twelve Sages, they retrieve a Canoe and information about the fiends. Heating to a volcano, and the home of the Fire Fiend, Kary (Actual name is Marilith). They defeat her, restoring the Fire Crystal.
Now, they head to an Ice Cavern and retrieves a Levistone. Heading to a desert not far from the Fire Fiend, they gets an Airship and now head to the Dragon King Bahamut, who lets them do a test of courage by retrieving a Tail from the Cave of Ordeals. By doing so, they get a class upgrade.
Now, they head to a Desert Caravan and retrieves a Bottled Fairy. Going to the town of Gaia, you let the fairy out and she repays you by getting you Oxyale. It allows you to breath underwater, which help with the Water Fiend, Kraken, who resides underwater. Going to Onlac, they get a Submarine which takes them to the Sunken Shrine where Kraken resides. They traverse the shrine, meeting Kraken and defeating him, restoring the Water Crystal.
Next, they are told of the Air Fiend, Tiamat, who lives in the Air Shrine. Travelling to the home of the ancient race, the Lufenians, they get a bell which allows them to gain access to a Spire that will take them to the Air Shrine. Travelling throughout it, they retrieve Adamantite, which allows the swrd Excalibur to be forged by the dwarves. Soon meeting Tiamat, they battle and are victorius and restores the Air Crystal.
After seeing that the four crystals are gathering energy at the Temple Of Fiends (where Garland was in the beginning), they head back to land and go there. They are warped back a thousand years and traverse through an immense dungeon, battling the four fiends once again before finding Garland, who shows his true form named Chaos.
They battle and win, restoring peace and balance to the world. Their journey however, is forgotten by everyone but still a legend.
I hope you appreciate this re-cap.

A good thing to do is go power levelling. Do not access the SPhere Grid until you have about 50 sphere levels, then go nuts.

Anyone play XI? That's my favorite. The console ones are okay, but the online play was great.

Nah, never played XI. I always heard mixed reviews about it, with more leaning to the negative side.

If XI didn't cost a monthly fee to play, I would play it in an instant.
I really want to play it though.

I've never played FF: Tactics, but I know it's good because it was made by the same group who did Ogre Battle 7. 3nodding
I've never played any FFs since the SNES days, I don't like modern consoles (I hate CDs as a media, so fragile, expensive, and lame). I also don't care for the techie atmosphere the later FFs have.
I like 1's party system, real RPG ish in the sense you make the characters, you don't follow pre-created characters. Although I like 4 / II myself, I like the story and characters.

I can't play FF:Tactics. Too boring for my tastes.. But that's just me, I don't know, I couldn't get into it. I liked FF6, FF7, FF8, and FF10 ( I always think it's funny that people never use "10" for it, but they always use "7" or "8" instead of "VII" or "VIII" ).
FF10-2 ( not FFX-2.. Why would you use roman numerals for the first number of the title, but not the second number? ) was kind of boring for me, but it was definitely the fastest to get through.
