It was an unusually hot day in the valley. It seemed that the very air was too thick to breathe. Kore, tired from previous events, snuggled into her new mate-Heliacle. From their friendship had budded an unusual love that warmed her belly. The amethyst griff's head rested on top on her maroon lover's neck and between their hoof, two eggs that both called brother.
Elathan struggled and pecked harder at his shell. He knew it! Today was the day he would finally be free from his dark prison. Shrugging, he could see small streams of sunlight cutting through the darkness. Preparing for the final break, the black and white hatchling tucked into himself and shoved with all his might. Tumbling forward, he gave an awkward squawk.
His silvery eyes blinked twice trying to adjust to the brightness of his new world. Shaking himself, Elathan gave an almost disgusted look. 'Ick,' he thought to himself, 'I am all wet and sticky!'
Rubbing his head and feathers with his beak, Elathan looked about the area. The big purple one and maroon one were still sleeping. Beside him, the other egg was shaking violently. Hopping over, Elathan put his head against the egg.
His voice was like the dry crackling of leaves barely heard upon the wind. Seeing the egg wiggle at his comments, Elathan began to peck at the egg.

†Throwing his round self against the encasing walls, Azhor was on the verge of giving up just when his small sensitive ears caught sound of something. Now listening very carefully-there's nothing but silence...
"Hello? Helloooo? Help me out!" He again began to thrash violently in the shell, unsure if someone or something heard him or not, his voice being rather loud and almost obnoxious
Holding his breath, seeing as the embryonic fluid had dried-out for a few hours now, and started working his sharp beak at the thick barracade†

Elathan chirped in encouragement and began to peck even harder at the shell. The egg knocked into him and caused him to fall back. Tears filled his silvery eyes as he clacked his beak.
This was said a bit louder than his first statement but was only a murmur.
Hopping back up, Elathan gave the shell his hardest peck yet.

†He hisses as a ray of light suddenly blinds his virgin eyes. He sees a little white point pecking at the shell from the outside, and decides to help himself. Lunging forward, he hit the egg walls as hard as he could, grunting and sqwaking at the same time. Finally, with only a few other attempts, the glossy pink and black shell splits apart completely. Also sending a thin shower of smaller shrapnel to fall around in sparkling pink and shimmering black.
Wincing, he blinked his maroon eyes into focus. First thing he sees is a black and white puff of a hippogriff.
"Did you help me?" he says in chirps and chippers, hopping out of the broken eggshells and closer to the other newborn. He down was the same color as the egg-a bright pink with a dark but glistening black.†

Elathan gave a cry as he was hit with egg pieces. Bouncing back a little bit, he watched as the other came bursting into the world. He wondered if his hatching had been as tramatic but shook his fat little head at the thought.
Moving closer, he hopped around the other who was a swirl of pink and black... Not that he knew what to call these colors. Elathan looked down at his own body and saw it was very plain and gave a mournful cheep. After all, how could one look at their own head?

†Azhor looked at the other small puff with a strange expression-as if judging him right off the bat. "Small, colorless and shy" he thinks to himself. Trying to look bigger, he tousled his feathery down-
"Well then! .... Thank you." he chirped, looking to the ground and mess of what was an eggshell. Approaching the monochrome hippogriff, Azhor compared himself to Elathan...†
((Do you have an idea how large El will be full grown? I just want to know if one of them should be considerably bigger than the other/))

((Um...Azhor can be bigger since Kore is slighter bigger than Heliacle))
Elathan watched his new friend hop up along side him. He thought the colors on this one were something to be admired. Silvery eyes took in the strange purple and maroon legs surrounding them... He did not think they were his parents or the other chick's parents.

†One ear bent to the side at the black and white hippogriff. He then also swept his maroon eyes at his surrounding, seeing nothing but large hoof and long legs of new colors.
"Names?" He furrows his brow, the baby 'griff having a rather silly allure. "We're "Brother"!" His voice reassured and proud. " You can be Little Brother, and I'll be Big Brother." He stood by his words, as if expecting the monochromatic grifflet to obey and agree to everything he said. Azhor even puffed his chest feathers, as if trying to look as tough and meaningful as his little speech.†

Elathan thought about the concept for a moment. Brother sounded just right to him. Why should he argue over who was right and who was wrong when he did not know anything about either concept? Chirping happily to himself, he gave a little bob of agreement.
He stopped for a moment.

†Chin up, Azhor fluffs up his feathers some more as he looks around, trying to figure out what these soft and warm things were around him and El.
"I dont know. Maybe...-" With a bit of a engaging chirp, the pink and black 'griff gave a quick but hard peck at one of the purple'hooved legs†

Before Elathan could stop him, Big Brother pecked at the purple one. His black and white body shivvered as he hopped back and hid behind the pink and black one.
He cried nervously.
Kore woke up to a very sharp pain her leg. Standing up quickly, she looked down to see two hatchlings between her legs. Looking over to Heliacle gave a cry. "Our brothers have hatched!"

†Practically stumbling backwards himself, Azhor rather regretted his actions. Taken aback by the sheer size of the adult hippogriff-he got the shakes. Small ears flattened as he simply sat and watched the large towering 'griffs awaken, rudely†
~She's suddenly pulled out of her sleep, which was deep and very restful-her beak opens, about to nag at Kore for waking her up so suddenly. But her words are held back as she realises that the small brothers indeed hatched!
"Oh..!" She quickly jumps to her four tall legs, looking down to the small puffs-Hard to beleive she looked like that not too long ago. "Azhor!" Her fore legs left the ground by a few inches as she stomped with excitement-" And Elathan!" She chirped, looking to Kore "Both hatched! Alive and healthy!~

Kore stood very still with her legs apart staring down at the two hatchlings. Elathan had a mask around his face while the rest of him was almost pure white. Azhor was a swirl of pink and black. How long had it been since she had been a hatchling? Free to play with Kiyoshi and Calamity...perhaps not free...but still those were good times.
"Welcome to the world, little brothers. My name is Kore and she is Heliacle." Nuzzling the two-tone chick, Kore continued. "You are Elathan."
Elathan listened to the words and tried to understand them. She spoke so calmly but still loudly. When the purple one nuzzled him, he trembled so but felt a nice warm feeling in his belly as well. Looking over to his Big Brother, he chirped.

†He puffs his chest out again, trying to look big and tough-however flattened ears tell a different story. The pink and black splash of a hippogriff chirped in return-
"Take care of us? We dont need anyone!" He hopped infront of Elathan, as if to protect him-falling over in the process. Mobility is new to him. He's suddenly back up-somehow.†
~She tilted her head curiously, watching the darker Azhor chirp and bounce with his fluffyness-Heliacle knew this one was wild. Just as he was aboutt o wobble and hop towards the light Elathan, he simply fell over-Still eggshaped, must be hard to move. With a chuckle, the large maroon hippogriff lowered it's head and with her round but sharp beak, helped him get back up...
"Azhor-you goof. Be careful.~

Kore stared down at the two puffs of fur and beak chittering back and forth to each other. She could hear Azhor quite well but Elathan spoke very softly. She watched the pink and black chick try to hop in front of Elathan but fall on his side. Before she could react, Heliacle was lifting him back up and tidying him up.
"Elathan. Azhor. We are your sisters. We have been watching your eggs for a long time waiting to take care of you. Are you hungry or thirsty?" Kore gently shook the bushes making some berries fall to the ground.
Elathan chittered in a scared voice when the reddish one picked Azhor up and righted him. He was able to figure out that his name was Elathan and Big Brother was Azhor. He liked Big Brother better. Shivvering behind Big Brother, he tried to hide under his small wings as berries fell around them.
