Soriyu Main Square //
This is the Soriyu Main Square, located right in the center of the city. There's lots of stalls and shops, but a large rectangular area in the center is reserved for events and shows. The Square is always bustling with people during the day, and is a great place to shop and mingle.
Main Square Bulletin Board //
In the middle of the Square is a large bulletin board where people can post ads and notices. It can get pretty cluttered, but the posts are cleaned regularly.

 Maya:--- Maya made her way over to the centre of the Square where a large rectangular area had been cleared off for the demonstration. In her arms she carried a stack of papers, some chalk, and a pen. She looked around with a frown. "Huh, almost time to start. Where is everybody? Tch, if they don't come after all my shameless self-advertising, I'm going to kick their asses." She sat down on the base of the Frear statue around which the Square had been built, and set the materials down beside her. "Oh well, 15 minutes left..." she muttered, crossed her legs, and started impatiently tapping out a rhythm on her leg.

Soye had been curious about this, and it had taken no little consideration to bring Eun Sun. The girl was dressed in mint silk- the cleanest really, because the guardian hadn't managed to get everything else washed yet.
That was on another to do list.
Still, she thought they both looked pretty presentable, Eun Sun in one arm and Soye in black and chestnut stripes, hair tugged away from her face in tiny braids that had taken her all night to do.
This... this was something.
The square was empty enough that she found it easily, and with a nod, she looked around. Well. She didn't recognize anyone here.

Nayell walked towards the main square, completely distracted by ripping the used pages from her notebook. After ripping them off she placed them in her pocket and walked towards the rectangular area where it looked like the demonstration would take place. A lady with blonde hair was already there, so Nayell approached her.
"Hi! I'm Nayell. I've come to see the demonstration. I'm glad someone else is here but me! You ever done magic before?"

"Hello hello hello!" Came the loud, racuous, and cheerful cry of a young Milvan Lotus ambiguously on crack. Jafar kept his distance, sitting down on one of the benches around the square, close enough to intervene should Vira try anything truly stupid but far enough away that he might actually have some peace today.
Vira wanted anything but. Waving eagerly to everyone as she passed them, regardless of whether she actually knew them or not, she flounced up to Maya and twirled in front of her. "You're the magic lady, right?!"

Maya:--- Maya looked up when someone addressed her. "Uh... yeah, I've done magic before," she snorted. "Actually, I'm the one doing the demonstration, kiddo." A young blonde Lotus flounced up to her and did a little twirl. Maya turned to her her. "Yeah, I'm the magic lady. My name's Maya. You're that old man's kid, right? Vira, was it? Anyway," Maya turned to regard the few Lotuses gathered in the middle of the Square. "Well, I guess it's time to start the demonstration... I'm going to be saying quite a bit, so you guys better listen, because I'm not repeating myself twice..."

It wasn't like Seiji cared much about magic (he preferred a good sharp knife anyday) but who knew where Tobias's affinities were. At any rate, he still had nothing better to do than take the Lotus kid around, and an event was as good as any.
The two entered the main square, Tobias wearing his everpresent pout, but the slight bounce to his step giving away his excitement. (At least he was wearing real clothes now... manly ones. for men.)

It was a little early or late for the event, but then again Nonia had not wanted to go at all. She was a woman of physical strength and endurance, and the mere thought that she was bringing her ward to learn magic was almost unspeakable. It was definitely un-smileable, which was made obvious by the firmly disapproving frown set on the female Lotus' lips. She walked in a swagger, the various weapons but very little clothing on her person shifting with every step. There was no need, in her mind, to get this lady's approval.
She was not the one that was going to end up in the mage guild. Her charge was.
And certainly, Ceasar was excited. While quite young and impressionable, it had become clear in the youngster's existance that he had talent. He never acted as frail as his body would dictate, and his manner was direct. Already, he was similar to Nonia, if in courage rather than style. Being far too young, it had not been the junior Lotus' idea to try out magic lessons, but he was not above nodding his head extremely hard when his guardian brought up the idea in slight distaste.
With bad and overly happy attitudes aside, the pair made it into the Square, connected by a sturdy cord that was little more than a leash wrapped around the younger Lotus' torso. At least it kept the job of keeping child and adult together.

Nayell stared at the lady. "Oh... uh... sorry. I didn't..." Nayell turned around to walk towards the chairs and pulled out her notebook. Watching the young child run around like a mass murderer of silence, she pulled a pencil from her picket and giggled.

"Yeah, Vira!" The blonde gestured to herself with a jerk of her hand. It was only with the mention of 'old man' that the hamster in her head started running on its wheel, and Vira stared cross-eyedly at Maya for a minute before an imaginary lightbulb went off above her head. "I've been practicing my poise, you'll see!"
And with that she crossed her arms over her chest and 'hmf'ed so hard her bangs went flying.

Maya:--- Maya nodded to the new arrivals before launching into her speech (more of a lecture, really). "The basics of all magic in Edonisu is this: you use a symbol called a “Seal” as an anchor to transfer the magical energy from the spiritual plane into the physical plane. This spiritual plane is referred to as the Aether, and it exists as a mirror dimension of our own, but composed entirely of energy and magical creatures. It is the source of our power in Edonisu. There are eight types of magic that exist: elemental, animation, healing, protection, sealing, summoning, creation, and destruction. There are four Gates which govern these magics, and they are: Manu (elemental and animation), Uido (healing and protection), Matsu (sealing and summoning), and Daara (creation and destruction). A Gate is a limitation imposed on the mind, and the more Gates you can open, the more powerful the magic available to you is. The fifth Gate, Sheto, is the Gate of immortality, and only the most enlightened and powerful Lotuses can open this Gate. The amount of Gates a Lotus can open depends on their innate magical capabilities and capacity. The average Lotus will not even open the first Gate, while the original Guardians like the Honored Mikado, Lady Sakuya, have all already opened Sheto. The original Guardians are centuries old by now, huh?" Maya paused for a moment before shaking her head and continuing. "Anyway, you’re all probably thinking, “How do I open a Gate?” Well, you see, you probably need a teacher for that kind of stuff. A few of you really talented kids might be able to open Manu on your own, but anything beyond that and you’ll need someone guiding you. Which is really why you should sign up for the magic guild, kids. I’ll help you open as many Gates as you’re capable of, and teach you all the seals and magic you need to know." At this, Maya smirked and crossed her arms. The whole point of this demonstration was to get new recruits, after all. As president, she wasn't above a bit of self-promotion. "Everything clear so far? Don't be afraid to ask questions."

Rabi had decided to sleep all day, again. Sankh knew that the child was far past the age were such behavior would be concsidered normal -- at this point he was just being lazy.
"Wake up you lazy blob. We're almost there," Sankh said, nudging Rabi's side with his hand.
The boy slowly opened his eyes and Sankh plopped him onto the ground and waited for the demonstration to begin.

Still writing down the last part, Nayell raised her other hand. "I have a question... can guardians enter the magic guild? Can anyone enter the magic guild? Sorry if this sounds stupid... but I don't know that much about magic."

Vira listened as intently as she could (which was to say: not very well.) She scuffed her foot against the ground, and picked at fuzz on her sleeve, and then started picking on the kid next to her, and finally turned her attention back to Maya in time to catch something about a 'gate'. And oh, the Mikado! That was her!
...Well, not her yet, but still! "So it's like.. a gate... in your head? Do you have to have a key or something?" She shoved her hands into her pockets, searching for bits of metal, but nothing came up even vaguely resembling a key. Besides which, how would she get 'em into her head anyway -- unless she jammed them into her ear.
Hmmm...

Nonia was tempted to say something along the lines of '...What?', but just barely held her tongue. She let the information sink in, marinate her mind, if only for a moment. After which, she was still quite confused. Fortunately, or so she thought, her attention was swiftly diverted to Ceasar who was attempting to toddle a bit closer towards the teacher. The woman obliged him for a moment.
She ignored whoever had asked a question before her, stupid ones she assumed, and spoke up, "And if they join this little guild of your's, you'll be teaching them? Or just any smuck that happens to have an inkling of this gate business?"
