Okay, here's the thing. Sin isn't a laundry list of things not to do. Sin is a state of separation. Origional sin doesn't mean we are born evil. It means we are born _not God_. We are separate from God and from each other. Because of our sin, our separation, we can do things that hurt other people because "it's not me". We can get careless and miss hurtful actions that we might have notices where they directed at us. Also because we are separate, we do not fully understand one another, or God. The way to overcome sin is not to declare someone 'evil' and try to harm them. The way to overcome sin is not to follow a strict set of rules and degrade those who don't live up to the list you consider the right one. The way to overcome sin is to bridge the gap of separation. The more we can understand one another, the more we can feel and act on compassion for one another, the more progress we make toward defeating our own state of separation, or sin.

A mind open to possibilities you had not previously considered, a heart open to the needs and feelings of others, these are the tools we need to hone.
