Plot
Cagalli returns to Orb after the assasination attempt. Word gets out to the world about the wedding and assasination.Kalaeris PHASE 2:
The PHASE starts with a televison report on the attempted assassination of Cagalli Yula Athha. Zoom out to the hospital where Cagalli is watching the report, sitting in bed. The AA crew walk in and make sure Cagalli is okay, with Kira staying behind with his sister. They have a talk, wondering exactly why Cagalli would be targeted. Kira wants Cagalli to increase security, but Cagalli sees no need. Cut to some scenes of investigators at the scene of the shooting. Lacus speaks to Kira about the crime and how Cagalli had to return to Orb before it would be too dangerous.
We could send Cagalli back to Orb to recuperate at this point, and then have a figure watching the report somewhere... and sure, this figure can look like Athrun.

"...Sources confirm that Orb Representative Cagalli Yula Attha is stationed at the Embassy Hospital for close observations. In a recent trip to the PLANTS, our Representative has suffered a near fatal incident in an assasination attempt. Further sources confirm that the trip was to a wedding event, that which evolves the Zaft's Chairwoman Lacus Clyne, which was unknown to the public at the time of it's occurance. Unfortunately, an unknown assasin was able to collect data of the time and place of the wedding in order to get to Representative Attha. No further information has been issued on the status of Representative Attha or on the reports containing knowledge of the identity of the said assasin. Thank you for tuning in to Orb's Kingdom6 News..."

A tall figure placed his remote on the small, cylinder table beside him. His hand reached further over to grab a dainted green mug of hot tea. He lifted it up to his mouth only to pause for a moment as his blue fringes overcast his eyes. He took a sip and placed the mug back on the table. Seconds later he lifted himself off the chair and walked away.

Lacus and a crowd of friends were patiently standing or sitting in the waiting room. She was gripping Kira's hand pretty tightly, thinking of how Cagalli could have been killed. She realized now that she had taken risks before that endangered her life too...but those were necessary to end the war back then...and that was why it had always made Kira so worried.
Patting Kira lightly on the hand, she told him "I'll go and ask if we can see Cagalli yet..."
Getting up, she walked down the hall to the very end and found a nurse. About to ask her if they could see Cagalli, the nurse simply stopped her and opened the door for her. Lacus smiled "Thank you! May you please let the others know they can come down too?"
Walking in she went to sit by Cagalli's bedside. She only had a few bruises and cuts, but emotionally, the attempted assasination had an effect on her. "Hi Cagalli. How are you doing?"

The nurse Lacus addressed let her in without question. She knew Representative Cagalli would like some company after the ordeal.
Going down the hall to where Cagalli's friends and family were waiting she nodded to them and bowed quickly. "I have admitted Miss Lacus to Representative Athha's room. You may come as well. I will bring extra chairs for everyone to sit."

Kira nodded his thanks to the nurse, then looked around at everyone else. "If you don't mind, Lacus and I will have a quick talk alone. You guys can come in later if you want." He said. "Chat amongst yourselves...we'll call you when we're done."
Going down the hallway, he walked into the room as Lacus spoke softly to Cagalli. He waited patiently at the doorframe, waiting for his sister's answer.

Murrue nodded her head as Kira walked off to Cagalli's room. "I wonder who would do this?" She said, talking to no one in particular. "What will an attempted assassination on the Representative of Orb prove?"

Miriallia didn't really know how everyone all of a sudden ended up at the hospital waiting room, but despite some people thinking of this as something minor, it really wasn't. "There's only two real goals the assassin would accomplish from shooting Cagalli." she replied, summing up what most people were thinking. "To take over ORB, or to start another war."
Lunamaria sighed, listening to the buzz around her. Hearing Murrue's question, she had no answer. It was just plain suspicious. This better not lead to more battles, she thought, we are having enough difficulties as it is trying to patch ourselves up from the last war. Turning to finally hear a conversation starting up, she added her thoughts. "Why to that though? Who would want to do something like that after how everyone has suffered. No one in the right mind would try it."

Waltfeld was kind of unsure what to say. He just sat there and nodded his head a lot, wondering about the motives of the assasin. Beside him, he noticed Mrs. Yamato in deep thought as well. He sighed before saying anything. "Well someone did. Whatever they are doing it for, it must be for someone else. They were hired. Yzak and I found this at the scene." He reached into his pocket with his gloved hand and pulled out a scarlet flag. On it was a crest. "What do you think of it?" he asked.

With that last statement, the television turned off with a soft click. Cagalli held the remote firmly in her hands while she heaved a long and heavy sigh. These immediate turn of events have affected everyone greatly. No one had a clue who would be resposibe for such an act. Even she could not understand why it could have occured so suddenly. Plus, some people caught that event on camera. It may not have hurt her physically, but emotionally was another matter.
Her golden orbs that once held a firm and bold expression now softened due to confusion. She blinked once Lacus came in. Cagalli wondered if Lacus has been thinking the same things that have been running in her mind. "Hi Lacus. I'm doing fine," She paused for a while, then continued. "Though I've been thinking about what has been going on lately."

Lacus nodded and sat down beside her friend's bed, just as Kira appeared at the door. Making herself comfortable, she patted Cagalli lightly. "I can imagine you are thinking about a lot of things," she replied, then sighed before continuing. She didn't want her close friend to leave so soon, but it was necessary."It wouldn't have been so bad if Athrun were here. No one would have been able to get that close to you, or any of us if he were around...." she added as a side thought. Looking at Cagalli's golden eyes, her soft blue ones were resolent, yet kind. "I hope the assasination attempt hasn't affected you too terribly."

Kira edged his way into the room, getting around a table full of flowers to reach where Lacus sat. He placed his hand on the bedpost, steadying himself while he explained to his sister what was on his mind. "Lacus and I are worried. It wouldn't be safe for you to stay here at the PLANTs. It was still nice of you to come without security to obscure our wedding. But now it's putting you at a great risk to get hurt again. We think it would be best if you head back to ORB." He was very serious about this, and noticing Lacus' comment, he hung his head. "I should've seen him...I shouldn't have let him get so close to even have aimed at you...." he said quietly. Lacus was right... their friendship with Athrun was desperately needed at a time like this.
Staring at Cagalli, he added rather forcefully. "When you get back to ORB, you should increase the security around you. We don't know if the person, or organization will try to do that to you again."

The nurse attending to Cagalli was listening at the doorway. Though it was being rude, she had no intentions to harm them in any way. She was simply worried. There were rumours that battles between ORB and the new republic were starting over territories that the new republic claimed should be theirs. Perhaps this assasination attempt branched out from there. "They didn't need to do it here on the PLANTs." she murmured to herself. "We are simply here keeping our peace treaty." Straightening, she went over to fetch the clipboard with the results of the examination and went to stand back by the door. "Representative Athha should finish talking before I give her the report." she told herself.

Shinn didn't want to be here.
He wanted to be at home, where he could relax. Instead, Lunamaria had decided to bring him to the hospital Athha was at, to make sure she was okay. He had resisted at first, but Luna kept on insisting. Although he had wanted to check on Athha anyways, he hadn't wanted to be in the hospital for so long.
"She wasn't bleeding when we last saw her," he had said to Luna. "How come we have to go?" Of course, Luna had replied in her own Lunamaria way that it was only courteous and nice of them to do so. So here he was, listening to the others talk.

Cagalli sat upright and heaved a sigh. "You're right.." She responded. That was all she could say at this point. But she knew Lacus was right. It may have turned out differently with Athrun around. She looked at Lacus with a softer expression, which seemed to look more comfortable to say the least. She appreciated their company right now. It lessened the tension she was feeling. But surely everything will come into place sooner or later. "Anyway, the assasination attempt didn't affect me too much. It just got me thinking about a few things..." She said quietly.
"Well, I was planning to get back to ORB soon. It isn't my place to stay here at the PLANTs." Then Cagalli stared at Kira with her golden eyes. Cagalli knew how serious this situation was, and how serious everyone felt towards the whole matter. It was an unpredictable occurance, and everyone was thinking of the best ways to take control of the situation. She noted Kira's comment about increasing her security. She wasn't quite sure what to think about that idea. "Kira, increasing security is a reasonable thing to do, and I have already considered it. But I truly see no need to."
