I hope the next album is a bit like Iowa but faster and heavier. I reckon it'll be out sometimes next year.

I hope the same thing will happen..... this could be a marketing scheme by slipknot: to go mainstream for one cd and then go back to the way they were and ultimately get new fans and their old fans back

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has said fans will have to wait at least two years before hearing a new album from the nine-piece Iowa outfit.
In an inteview with Kerrang Radio (web site), broadcasting out of Birmingham, U.K., Taylor said he was currently concentrating on his side project Stone Sour (also featuring Slipknot guitarist Jim Root) — but that some of the other members were already getting together and "messing around on stuff."
Taylor did, however, say they were planning something a real "comeback" when the album is released.
"I want to go full-on again — I wanna do some melodic stuff, but I wanna go in your face again and show people what it's all about," he said.
Slipknot is currently working on its next DVD release, the follow-up to its 2002 DVD, "Disasterpieces". "It's going to be different than our last one," guitarist Mick Thomson recently told Bilboard.com. "Our last one mostly focused on the concert, and this one is going to have a lot more personal stuff on it. You get to see more stupid s**t [laughs]. There'll be some music and stuff, but you're getting to see what our days our like. It should be a lot more fun."

Proposed DVD has to go back to 2007
Although Roadrunner Records set an October 31 release date for the new SLIPKNOT DVD, it has had to be delayed until 2007.
The follow-up to 2002's "Disasterpieces" is "going to be different than our last one," guitarist Mick Thomson told Billboard.com last month. "Our last one mostly focused on the concert, and this one is going to have a lot more personal stuff on it. You get to see more stupid sh*t [laughs]. There'll be some music and stuff, but you're getting to see what our days our like. It should be a lot more fun."
Speaking about his favorite scene in the upcoming DVD, Thomson said, "A fan, I think in Austria, was drunk and out of line. He kept trying to come up on the bus, kept bothering people and then started to get a little bit loud and threatening. He had to be set down on his a** by someone close to us. Sometimes you've got to be put in your place, and he was put in his place."
SLIPKNOT is expected to begin writing material for its fourth studio effort later this year.
"We're going to start getting back together and working on stuff," Thomson told Billboard.com. "The core that writes the songs tend to get together — it's not as easy to work out stuff when you've got nine people standing in the same room. I would say we'll start working within the next few months. I've talked to [SLIPKNOT bassist] Paul [Gray] a few times. Very slowly, no pressure."

Yeah, but im more worried about Corey's voice. Have you heard 9.0 live? It sounds so different, and he more like talks then sings in some casses. When they do (Sic) in it, it sounds like he's burping the whole time. He's a smoker, which is destroying his voice.

Hopefully its maybe just the mike and the fact its live so his voice wount be as good. He sounds ok in the new Stone Sour album so he should be ok for ages yet i guess.

Voliminal is due to drop in December.
As for the question about the new album, Taylor has released that the new album will have some flavor from Vol. 3 as well some of their older style with Shawn and Chris on backing vocals since they can scream now and Corey can't anymore. The album is not due for release until Spring or Summer 2007 and is supposed to be the last album with Roadrunner unless they renew their contract with Roadrunner.
