This is a method for making elf ears that dosnt require casts or sculpting skills. The ears may not fit 100%, but they will do
this trick was invented by d**k smith one of the greatests make-up artists.
you will need.
a big spoon
latex
make up
make up glue
a brush and some foam/thingy/rubberystuff... the thing that you stuff matresses with.
part 1
You will here only do the tip of the ears and glue these latex ears over your own
Use the spoon as a "blueprint?". fix the handle with some tape and thread(so you can dip how much you´d like)
Pour the latex in a cup or can, and dip a little less than half the spoon into the latex
part 2
Then hang the spoon over a plate as the latex is running off, a the drops of lates will stiffen at the edge of the spoon(forming a elfear shape
when the latex is dry you redo the dipping and hang it to dry again, do this about five or six times.
eventually the lates will look like the tipp of an elf ear.
Part 3
It may happen that some brands of latex are runniers then others and may result in a sharper elf ear, this can be edited by cutting and rebrushing with latex.
when you are done dipping you may enchance some parts of the ear for example the edges by dripping with a pen or brush handle(look at the picture)
Part 4
when removing the earpice, it is important to use chalk?(ask for translation) the latex piece both on the in and outside. otherwise the latex might stick to itself when removing it...
do as shown on the picture on both sides of the spoon and then remove the ear.
part 5
this is what a earpiece might look like.
part6
When sticking the thing onto your ear.
put the earpiece on the ear and then chalk? the rest of the ear.
then remove the earpiece and you can see a clear outline where the ear is going to be.
part7
Now you know where to apply the glue, apply glue on the unchalked? part of the ear. Tough only on the front of the ear!
part 8
apply glue on the inside of the latex ear on the side, the side that will be on the backside of the ear. (did i lose you there or did you understand?)
if you do like this, the latespart wont stick toghether and the "elf" wont get glue in her/his ear.
part 9
put on the latex earpiece onto the ear and gently press now and then, eventually the glue will have grip everywherew on the ear.
most make up glues work better if they get to dry up a little before applied. but when doing this you apply directly while it´s still sticky and keep pressing till its dried a little.
part 10
it´s easy to get ugly edges when working with latex things. cover those ugly edges with a mix of flour and make up glue.
and if you dont suffer from sensitive skin, just apply some latex instead.
part 11
When you are statisified with the placement of the ear, you apply make-up.
stop! my own plea of help here.
i suppose that you, a larper knows how to handle theatrical make-up and it is not necessary of me to translate the part about how to make the earpiece to look alive.
