Raistlin of Krynn
Captain

Alright...we've talked about his brother. Twice...
Honestly I believe Caramon deserves his own discussion.

Whether the dumb ox of a bodyguard/fighter/mercenary, or the Seasoned Tactition (as in War of the Twins), or even the pathetic drunk (you know the book....), I feel he was a necessary character to the series. True, in chronicles he really didn't do all that much, but worry about Raistlin...but he did get Berem to the Foundation Stone...
No...Legends is his shining moment. Caramon starts out pathetic in every way, but by the end of the Legends trilogy, he is without a doubt a very respectable character.

Now, we can discuss his dependence on others to give himself a sense of worth, or whatever comes up...

As for his death...I do not think he got a raw deal. You have to remember that though still a big guy and in good physical condition, he was about 80-90 years old when he took that fall. Age simply caught up with him. That's all there is to it. Besides...all his friends had passed and it wasn't like he was not ready to accept going on the next phase of his life's journey. His fall down the stairs was not a raw deal.

Caramon's not stupid!!! His mind just works differently. He likes to take his time, and people mistake it for him being rather soft in the head. True, he is a little naive (what with his brains in his stomach and his - ahem - loins) and rather lacking in self-control, but he's not stupid.
I don't know why he puts up with that jaundiced scrap of a mage, that miserable excuse for a compassionate human being, that kaq of a brilliant character he calls his brother. I think someone said to me, 'Raistlin is Caramon's "shield from reality"', and that he takes care of raistlin so he doesn't have to think about things.

Clearly you've never been the brother who was called "weaker". I can honestly say, I have a younger brother who is just like Caramon. I mean that with the overprotectiveness and his brain functions.

Its fine that Caramon takes his time to make decisions, but if he takes too much time when it matters, it could cost somebody their life.

Actually, I've got a younger, meaner, smarter version of Caramon living with me. I believe I've given you messages from her...the Sister of Darkness? Yes, I know Caramon's not a sister, but it's the same basic scenario. She inherited the good stuff - even a large share of the brains, unlike Caramon. And I got the brains and nothing else. But, that's not the worst of it. If she was overprotective, I'd be overjoyed. Instead, she delights in making me suffer. She said so herself! I'm not exaggerating! I'm NOT! (Lashes out at a Ming vase and storms off, slamming the door)

Caramon was a rather simple character compared to his genius of a brother. But I think he had a lot to offer, and he just didn't show if until Legends because Raistlin was always there, hovering, like a shadow, perhaps. Caramon had that strong sense of duty to his little brother, instilled by Kitiara at a young age. I find that strong sense of loyalty and devotion very admirable, even if Raistlin abused it time and time again. Like I said, Caramon had alot to offer, and Legends let him shine and show a side that no one thought possible of Caramon. Atleast for me, anyway.

lol... simple... they have the same parents... and were born on the same day... to the same mother.

I see it on a daily basis how two complete opposites are in fact twins, but no one would expect it. Its rather fun to watch.

Hehe....I love when stuff like that happens. I hate twins who are so much alike...

Yin and yang. Light and dark. Good and evil. Simple and complex.

I think my sister also said something about "Guy and gal", but I won't go into that with all these Raist fangirls lurking about.

lol... Raistlin is about as femanine as a pile of sulphur and bat guano.. and Caramon even LESS femanine than that, so I don't know what those two have to worry about.
