There a tribe hidden high the canopies of the central wood forest. These elves hide from the uncivilized world because they are said to hold such great treasure and some of the finest and rarest dragons. They do the best for one another and strive to. One day a man that look about his mid-forties was walking home with his twelve-year-old son. The found a rather lonely-looking egg. The two saw no indicator of a nest anywhere. The boy chimed in saying that the egg must have been stolen from its mother or abandoned and they must, all costs, take care of it just like their family code. 'Do the best for any living thing that you possibly can'
The man nodded and he took the egg and his son home. After word got out about their finding the egg, the rest of the elves were enraged that one of their own would take care of a dragon that was possibly very common with no liniage that would advance their tribe. The family was looked down upon greatly for their choice to ignore the standards the elitist elves had set. Then the twelve year old boy turned thirteen and the egg mysteriously hatched on the same day. The tribe elder said it was a sign and they assigned the young boy to look after the small purple female dragon. Not only would this teach his family a lesson because they would be associated with a creedless dragon, but it would be extremely hard for the boy to raise the dragon without its mother.
The boy had a hard time trying to do his best for the small hatchling. But somehow he managed to survive, as did the little female dragon she started off alone and abandoned inside her shell but she quickly learned that this boy that saved her was her friend and her family. The pair had a long journey together. If nothing else, flying lessons seemed like they would be very difficult to say the least.

Nothing is known of Ardryn's family. Her egg was found by Ty's community and, as she was hatched on his birthday, he was the one who recieved her.
