Why has no one discussed Crysiana of House Tarinius yet?!?!?! Now SHE is a character worth discussing. Calm, cool, hard and cold as ice, at first glance she is a freezingly beautiful Palanthan woman. Then, terror, love and stress crack her, and thaw her out. Like any thawing process, it is extremely painful. Now she's blind. What are your opinions of this lovely young lady?

She was, for the longest time, too easy for Raistlin to control. Blinded by her love, she twisted reality to suit her vision of who he was. When you first fall for somebody, all you see are the good things. That was what she was stuck in. It wasn't till he truly ******** her over that she really began to grasp what their entire relationship actually was.

She's savvy now, but only because she couldn't reign in her Stupid in the beginning. She kinda bothers me, and I make fun of her most of the time I talk about her. Sadly enough, I'm more or less in the same boat she was in throughout most of the drama....such a hypocrite..... emo

Hmmm. Another character I consider a shmuck! I didn't like her at all. She is one of the only early Lance characters that I felt was poorly written.

That's really not fair of you. She had such a sheltered life, and her faith was so strong. "Lady Crysiana walks with her eyes fixed on the heavens. She does not realize that in doing so, one will surely stumble." Poor Crysiana, she went through such a traumatic experience; she's only a young woman! The poor girl was in love, then had to go through trials of fire, death etc. and finally, fell into the Abyss and got blinded. Cut her some slack!!!!

I will say, I thought the same thing until I dated a girl just like her...then I realized the brilliance of her character...plus she's hot!!!!!(Come on...even Raist thought so.)

I despised Crysania. Such a little, hidden snake....those you find slithering among the loveliest of trees. I don't think she ever loved Raistlin. She was fascinated...perhaps, because he was so different, his mind, his alignment was so different than from what she was used to. But then, who can say where Majere was aligned to? Anyhow....I never cared for her, she seemed to be a seductress one moment and a "damsel in distress" another time. Good thing Tanis wasn't around -shifty eyes-

And she was only a seductress towards RAISTLIN... no one else. Though yes... the things she did was a bit underhanded, but I can understand, sort of, why she did them. She's not so much a snake as a misguided child, as someone put it. And she finally DID find her path... only by then it was too late for either herself and/or Raistlin. It was only a stroke of luck and a whim of Raistlin's that she got out of the Abyss alive, even though she was blinded from it. At first I thought she was a "high and mighty, self centered b***h" (pardon my harsh language), but by the end of it all I really liked her character and how she changed.

Well...I hadn't read Legends in 2 years....and, yes, she treated him as if she were a goddess....I remember now..I was thinking of how she treated Raistlin. Ah yes....I think she was a snake. No child would know how to push a man's buttons, especially one such as Raistlin. Hmph. I think she knew what she was doing. And I hate her. She deserved to become blind.

Honestly no, I didn't "enjoy" pointing out your error. I can see how you came to your conclusions after reading all of the Legends Trillogy and simply countered with my interpertation of her character. And I know several others who have come to that same conclusion as well, even AFTER reading the third book and how the entire thing ends. They say it was an "act" at the end of the third book. I think it was a good thing she became blind because that helped her gain an insite to other people she didn't have before then. Sometimes our eyes won't let us see the "truths" in people because we are so concerned with looks that we forget to look at the big picture. I think THATS what the gods were trying to teach Crysania when they made her go blind. And there are many ways one can be considered a "child" or "childish" about things. And Crysania was childish in many ways, and manipulative and knowing exactly what she was doing in others. All in all she didn't fully understand her responsibilities as a Cleric of Paladine and what that ment. And in THAT reguard she WAS a child. On that same note there are also many forms of "Love" and I think that several of those forms apply to Raistlin and Crysania, but not the "romantic" sense of the word. If there wasn't some sort of connection between them then things may not have ended as they did. I think towards the end after they came to the Tower in Palanthas in the past Crysania really did have feelings for Raist beyond simply wanting to "save" him. And in the end Raist had a type of bizarre "love" for her or else he would have just said "eh... screw her" and not let Caramon take her out of the abyss and taking his chance to leave the abyss and become a god. Instead he stayed behind and faced his torture that he KNEW was coming to save everyone. And as much as I'm standing up for her... I honestly don't care for her much either.

No one really can say why Raistlin decided to spare here...He's quite an unpredictable character...I don't believe, however, that either of them "loved". Obviously, she was way too snooty and lustful to know the true meaning of love. Love isn't something you learn after seeing someone and decided there's chemistry. It's learned over many years of hard struggle....I may not have felt that emotion..or any emotion for that matter...but I've seen it in others. Love doesn't happen that quickly, and often isn't as pleasant. I don't believe either of them loved one or the other. Especially Raistlin, who, very obviously, is a child when it comes to emotions. His brother is the genius in that respect. I too, was glad she became blind, but for more cryptic reasons. I agree with you on your opinions about her being childish...She was...to me...worse than Laurana...who is another woman I loathe. But that's saved incase someone makes a thread for her.
