Sup Guys, perhaps we can get a discussion going on motorsport.

With all thats out there, what, when flicking randomly through channels catches your eye. Personally anything with wheels catches my eye. But if you had a choice rather, what would you watch to the point where you're on the edge of your seat to take all the action in.

Since they don't seem to show motorsport on the local public television stations, I really am going through a rough spell. So when Im at a friends house I'll watch anything.
I must say, SuperBike racing and MotoGP are my favorites to watch.
Partly because I haven't been able to sit down and thoughrly watch any other kind of race emo . And partly because its just so friggin awsome.
The field isn't totally dominated by Valentino Rossi, so the racing action is always frantic and good to watch. The josteling for positions is exciting to watch as the riders try to out brake eachother and come with in a hair of touching eachother at 200+ km/h. Plus at the end of the race, most riders are happy to do burnouts and wheelies for the crowds.

Rally of course is in my opinion the most awsome form of motorsport. It puts every day cars (sortof) and tests them on all sorts of terrain and courses. Requiring probably the most concentration and stamina of all motorsports. Unfortunately to see these guys live, seems to be quite a mission in itself. I suppose you could make quite a day of it, go camp in the woods with your mates, some brewskies and a portable BBQ.
Televised, it seems to be the best way to watch it. Even then its at best a highlight package, and in car visuals are shaky at best.

So what motorsport do you like to watch on TV?

What do you think has the most entertainment value watching live or on TV?

I like watching the desert racing sports, if it be something like the Baja 1000 with buggies, trucks, and bikes, Or Dakar with everything with four or two offroad wheels. Dakar just rocks because anyone can enter, and even the amateurs have a chance at winning because it will eat you alive, pro or not.

My favorite classes are the Quads, though not many people enter in those. There are usually alot of Cars (Including SUVs, Buggies, Trucks and other 4 wheeled monstrosities) and Bikes, though I'd not jump at the idea of traveling through the desert alone, with only a map and a GPS unit. On two wheels. gonk

...That and the 4wd/6wd offroad semi-trucks. That's just fuggin cool to see a truck the size of a Peterbilt with a 1200hp diesel engine on 50+" tires jumping off the dunes. biggrin

That and CORR racing. Especailly Pro-4, with 24" of suspension travel through 4wd, 800hp V-8 engines, and a whole lot of bump n' grinding going on in the 10 lap race.

This SCCA racing sounds really awsome. I like the idea that motorsport should be everybody. Like the common man should be able to enter, get onto a track and have some fun. It would be cool, if there where more road courses around, where if not hosting a local race meet, you could pay a small fee, rock up with the appropriate safty gear and tear up a few laps just for fun day or night. That could be popular if in the right area. It would sure keep kids off the streets. When its financially viable for me I would like to join some sort of club, one that autocrosses and hosts track days.

I think NASCAR is pretty cool. I wouldn't be able to watch it for more than ten minutes at a stretch though. Conseptually it should be action packed, with the cars generally being bunched up alot of the time, and with the required pit stops. However watching oval racing, its so easy to loose sight of who is actually in the lead. From a spectator point of view its kinda cool because you can pretty much see all the action, with out being impeeded by hills and crap.
I remeber my Dad's friend took me to a local oval race night. The oval wasn't big, it was tarred but what was cool was they had many many different classes of cars running. And for the different heats/races they would change the direction of the race. That was cool to watch because I don't think the races where longer than 10 laps. So they where changing it up enough to keep it interesting.

I have a thougho(sp?) dislike for modern F1. I haven't watched a race in ages. Its pretty big down here, but so many people are like fanboys/girls its quite sad. F1 stopped being exciting when they ******** around with the pitstops. Those where the best part about the race. I can't remember what they changed about it, but they used to be so exciting, to see a team do so much to a car in under 10 secounds.
Im more interested in the old old F1, from the 1930s to about the early 1980s. I mean look at how badass this car is.

And that s**t was fast. The Mercedes-Benz W196 is by far my favorite F1 car of all time. So much human skill went into this car to craft it into a ledgend.

I must say when it comes to dirt racing, I enjoy seeing trucks fly though the air. Its just so ******** COOL. Just as this
