This Highlord doesn't come into the saga much; all that we know about him is that he's goblin, he's fat, he smells bad, he once served under Verminaard, he was in charge of looking for the Blue Crystal Staff around the lands of Abanasinia, and (as a Highlord) was set to take care of Kendermore (poor guy!) What most DL fans don't realise is that Toede was a sentient being too. He lived, loved (sort of), fought, feared and hoped...just like Tanis or Crysiana. Why is this poor, misguided soul largely ignored? He deserves a place in the Character Discussions too! I mean, he played an important part in DoAT, and he should be remembered as one of the villains of DL, as much as Ariakas or even Kitiara.

He's largely ignored because he failed at life. Not only that, he failed at life in an uninteresting way. Besides, he's a goblin, and militant goblins seem to be pretty shallow creatures. confused

I just found it funny that instead of him ending up getting what he deserves, he falls up the ranks due to being in the right place at the right time.

I swear to each one of you, the novel Lord Toede is one of the best DragonLance novels ever written. It even makes you like the guy. I swear.
If you don't like it, I'll buy your copy from all you. I promise.

I feel sorry for Toede (I refuse to call him Lord). He was never brought up to know better, like all goblins; and goblins who were never bought up to know better can't bring up little goblins to know better. And so it continues.

I've haven't read the book "Lord Toede", yet, but I love how he has this great and glorified vision of himself and doesn't hesitate to boast of his "superiority" over the other dragon Highlords.

Raistlin of Krynn I've haven't read the book "Lord Toede", yet, but I love how he has this great and glorified vision of himself and doesn't hesitate to boast of his "superiority" over the other dragon Highlords. The book makes you look at him in a completely new way. It's also one of the only DragonLance novels that deal with the outer planar creatures.
