The Depleted Outskirts of Midgar
PostPosted: Fri Jun 30, 2006 12:02 pm

Kyris took aim and fired a spray of bullets at two of the Kalm Fangs as they moved away from the man to strike him again. Hopefully she would draw their attention. Also, hopefully the rest of the MPs had gotten out of the car quickly, otherwise she might just be ripped to pieces right after the man. The sound of the gun turned the head of one, to face the bullets, but the others remained oblivious to it.

((continued from midgar sector 0))

The lift touched down with a soft thump and Private A. Sinyao took the patrol car-truck-thing out through the thick steel doors that separated Midgar’s upper city from the monsters that roamed the lifeless wasteland beyond.

Speaking of monsters;

"Kalm Fangs," said Kyris aloud

Rayne’s head jerked upwards and he sat upright scanning the terrain for the beasts.
Spotting them his face melded into a determined scowl, the Fangs were surrounding a strangely tall man

COMM:> Be careful not to hit him!

Kyris’ voice Came through the comm as she jumped a suicidal leap from the still moving vehicle

‘ok, so she’s crazy and evil, great combo’ he commented drolly as the ground caught up with her feet and she began running.
Rayne stood, avoided the young girl at his feet and levelled his large SMG on the roof of the patrol vehicle bracing it so he could fire more accurately, preparing to give the girl of his dreams, (dreams!? scratch that) nightmares! some well aimed cover fire.

The two Kalm Fangs on the right paused for a moment as the volley hit them. The one who had turned had managed to jump out of the way of most of the bullets, and consequently shrugged the damage off and headed straight for Kyris. The other less fortunate one staggered for a few seconds before moving steadily towards the truck.

As the first Kalm Fang charged at her, Kyris dropped to one knee, and aiming her gun at it, pulled the trigger.

As Atra ambled out of the truck, he ran over to the things, and jumped one, hitting it in the head with the butt of his machine gun. Of course, noone told him how to use his gun yet.

Mariah on the other hand, actually KNEW how to use her gun. But with Atra beating one senseless, she couldn't trust the accuracy of the gun yet, trying to avoid hitting either the man or Atra. It was a hard choice, and she looked around. No water either.

Rayne felt the gun kick back against his shoulder, juddering repeatedly against his collar bone and the top of the truck making one hell of a racket.

“ugh!” he cried clutching his ears “Wasn’t really prepared for that” he didn’t envy the private in the cab, or rather the private who was in the cab five seconds ago.

He was aiming for the Fang that was charging at the truck and his aim was shaky at best (what else do you expect with a machine gun), most of the shots went wide but a few struck the beast burying themselves into the wolf’s thick fur, the beast stumbled and blood splattered the ground but it kept limping at speed towards Kyris.

“damned thing! how is it still moving!?” Rayne squeezed the trigger again and the gun belched loudly spraying bullets at the crazed wolf, unfortunately that’s to the huge racket that Rayne was making the other wolves had noticed their presence and turned their beady eyes towards the four MPs when Atra clobbered it on the back of the head

As Atra ambled back, the creature got up again, and charged Atra. He instictively reached hind him to take one of his swords. There was one fault with that plan: He wasn't allowed to have his sword while on duty. He didn't have time to swing the gun at it again, and brang his left up to block the bite going for his neck, but he heard bullets whizzing in front of him, as[/size ]Mariah came to his aid, firing at the beast, several bullets hitting it in the chest. Just before the wolf hit him, she tackled it, knocking it away, then turned around to the other three, while Atra ran over to the fallen Fang, raising the butt of his gun to strike it once more. While he did so, he asked Mariah. "HOW IN THE ******** DO YOU USE THESE DAMNED THINGS?!"

Rayne jumpe doff the truck, ran over to the two others and gave the boy a quick run through of the “how-to-use-a-gun” manual
“you see this bit here!?” he shouted grabbing the barrel and pulling it close to the boys face

“you point this at the enemy” he demonstrated by turning round and aiming at the three other Kalm Fangs

“and then you squeeze this bit!!” he shouted over his shoulder pulling the trigger of his own gun sending small packages of hot lead blasting forth from the blazing barrel the gun kicking back twice as much as when he had it braced. this had the effect of driving Raynes fire away from the nimble Fangs and towards the Man
"s**t!!" he cried and released the trigger

Kalm Fang #2 had been hit multiple times by the co-ordinated efforts of three of the MPs. It broke free of them all with a still swift jump, then turned and leaped again. The rapidly closing arc would land it atop the one who had just jumped down from the truck.

The Fang (#1) that had been heading for Kyris was struck by the bullets, but only slightly slowed. It continued straight for her. As it barred its teeth, almost upon her, Kyris rolled to the side and came up firing again, back on one knee, the gun braced against her shoulder.

The two remaining Fangs (#3 and #4) had moved from the man and were now rapidly bearing down upon the siblings. The force of their joint bodyblows could smash bones.

"You mean to tell me there's no safety?" he shouted, as he took carful aim, and let off several bursts making sure that it didn't go out of target. His first few rounds aimed at the wolfs neck were almost on perfect mark.

As he turned to his left, he opened his eyes, and, swung his machine gun towards another, holding on to the trigger, and holding it steady, aiming for its head.
Mariah was abuot ten metres away from Atra, and had noticed two of the Fangs bounding towards Atra. She sent a mental note to him, warning him, as she went down on one knee, taking aim, and fired from the side, with one eye shut. Had she had her bow, she could have sent several arrows into their heads by now.

(( Orthosie is unable to continue at the moment. Her internet is acting stupid. Here's a little filler for you all to enjoy. ))

Hattori and Sniper

This may have been a cowardly attempt. But it was ordered, and he was to follow. A shadow is only a shadow, after all. And shadow only follows after the object the light is casted upon. Without light, there is no shadow, and thus it dutifully obeys and covers what light there is. Darkness was never the 'evil' as everyone so stereo-typically portrayed it as, but it was a brand new thing...a person or object that you can constantly place your trust in without even making a budge. Perhaps Revolution was at its end for requiring someone like him to have to step in, but this was by no means his own idea. Commands were to be obeyed. His master wouldn't be happy if he didn't complete the mission.

"Recklessness..."

He especially did not like these young MPs, running around and trying to fight Kalm Fangs. They knew not of the elements that lie around them. Whereupon their engagement with the hostile animals were necessary for their mission - they had to think what Kalm native animals were doing in the Wastelands. Why were they here if they were usually hunting prey near the rivers? Foolish youth. He stood atop a withered tree, looking down as the MPs began their melee with the Fangs. His eyes were baring down upon the team, observing their every moment as he just stood there - his arms crossed. Reccoitering was his specialty...but the list of what exactly he was good at was endless. He was an extremely skilled man...in fact, this wasn't even his own country, yet he had learned it in only a couple days.

"Ready?"

"Oi' am, thank ya very much, sir." A man clad in black fatigues, carrying a familiar sniper rifle on his shoulders looked up the tree. His face was covered in the cotton ski masks that were typical to people like him. The sight of the man above was unnerving. Covered from head to toe in the traditional garb of the Iga Clan from Wutai, the man was named Hattori. "Me mates in da bank should provide ya 'nuff to'ime ta' get in ta' da ShinRa base. Der units should beh' seperated bah' now. I hope ya give dem ShinRa laddies what fer."

"Thank you."

His image was a dark one. There was little skin as exposed as he possibly could make it. The hood he had was a distinctive feature of a ninja. The black cloth was first wrapped around his head and then tied back. The mask worn underneath the hood was to muffle his breathing and to disguise his face to the greatest extent possible. The swath used to tie the hood back trailed in the breeze, imbuing the atmosphere he projected with an austere dynamism and a rather dramatic touch. Over his arms were vampbraces to further conceal his skin and even protect his arm. Warai sandals were standard footwear for him. They were more than just regular tabi sandals, allowing the benefit of movement without fail.

His robes were worn on the left side on the exterior. For all kimono, the only time the right side is worn on the exterior is by the deceased as funerary dress. His eyes, beneath that hood were piercing and his eyebrows were turned upwards, echoing his seriousness. The hakama cinched by an obi sash was normally worn open at both sides, but the kyahan greaves were tied over the pants. The greaves themselves were fastened over the knee to the ankle and were held together with flat cords. There was a minimum of creases, showing how snug the fit was and how easy his movement would be.

On his waist was a sheath that held the ninja's prided weapon: the shinobigatana or Ninja Katana. Unlike the samurai sword, his sword was straight and was parallel to the hilt.

He was the assassin and fighter for Wutai...but he had no symbol to show that he was part of Revolution, what exactly was he doing here? It was too late for the MPs to even see him in time - he was gone from the tree as soon as the man with the thick North Kalm accent had taken the liberty to confirm all of the information for Hattori. In fact, the recently built highway now had a new thing blazing through the asphalt: Hattori running towards the Midgar populous as fast as humanly possible.

Meanwhile, the man with the sniper rifle only chuckled as the MPs began to have trouble with the wolves. It was amusing to him. He had hunted wolves back in Kalm, and seeing these hungry beasts in action on flat lands was really surprising. In fact - it made him want to shoot. Now for the cowardly attempt...

He was currently nine hundred and eleven yards away from the MPs. Considering his scope being zoomed at one thousand yards, this was almost perfect for him. His form went beside the tree as he had suddenly went prone and aimed his rifle from beside the tree. His fatigues should cover him from plain visioned sight as long as he was on this type of ground. The distance was nearly perfect. He adjusted the elevation fine-tune ring on the scope. There was an intricate formula to accurately determine windage and elevation, but any good sniper can solve the equations in his head.

He did a hasty search because time was being measured in the amount of bullets that left the MPs' machine guns; the bullets pinged off of rocks and sand off of some the few dirt roads that they had taken. Some of the bullets had even hit some of the poor Fangs. Sooner or later, these guys would get lucky and bring down one of the large beasts. He started at the bottom of the left hand corner of his plain of vision, finding the two siblings. He scanned further, finding a commanding officer and a man who had mistakenly shot at the man they weren't supposed to shoot at.

Now that was a poor grab for attention.

He scanned the two siblings again before settling on the MP (Rayne) who was trying to teach them how to shoot correctly. He was firing at the wolves with an HSMG - it was easily identifiable due to the small muzzle flash and the smaller size. He thought he was safe. At that distance, he was damn near invisible to the naked eye, the dark haze of the wastelands damn near covering the light his gun projected when he fired. But as he viewed Rayne through the scope, he viewed him in full color, as if he were right on the telivision. Rayne and the sniper was now in a very special zone...all to themselves. He wasn't going to let this devolve into a fair fight for the MPs.

They had rapid fire guns? He had a .50 caliber round in the chamber, five more in the clip, that could be pierce steel, and can tear apart human flesh.

As the beast started to come back towards her for another pass, Kyris stood up. She remained oblivious to the rest of the fighting and focused on her own purple problem. It was likely that the same trick wouldn't work twice, and she didn't intend to be in the hospital again. It slowed as it aproached her and started to circle. It was going to leap soon. She knew that, though bullets would injure it, it wouldn't stop it, so she let her gun fall to rest on the strap around her neck, and reached around for her nightstick.

It leapt as her hand finally gripped it, throwing the full force it could muster at her. The bodyblow. She reacted quickly, not bothering to take the nightstick from her belt yet, just letting the condensed knowledge inserted in it flow into her being. She raised her other hand at the airborne Fang and a wall of rock shot up with it. The Kalm Fang couldn't stop nor slow it's innevitable collision with the slab.

A horrid snapping and breaking sound resounded and cracks appeared in the face of the slab that was visible to Kyris. After a few seconds the wall collapsed, apparantly onto the broken body of the Fang, for blood oozed from the pile and she couldn't see it anywhere else.

She let go of her nightstick, feeling tired yet again, and, wondering if she would ever get used to the sensation of using materia, took up her gun again and trudged around the pile to aid the rest of the MPs, however she could.
