Quote: Along a cobblestone road, almost a mile from the town of Shira looms the Shenjian Manor. The large structure rests at the top of a rocky craig as if taken from a horror novel. The walls are stone and much of the first few levels are covered with creeping vines. The structure resembles a hybrid of a European castle and a pagoda temple. The inside consists of a seemingly endless number of rooms. The windows are few, tall stainglass depictions of warped and abstracted figures. The main room is a large dome with hallways ad spiraling stairs leading in all directions. The walls are decorated with jagged, alien and almost horrific artwork. The servants dress finely but are all pale and have dark rings around their eyes.

Dekrins horse treked up the hill, growing more anxious with each step. By the time they reached the gate and he dissmounted the horse reered up and took off down the hill. Dekrin watched, lowering and shaking his head. I should have just hitched a ride. Dekrin thought to himself as he approached the door.
A loud banging of the door knocker sent out tremendous echoes that seemed to summon black clouds to appear overhead. As he stared upwards the door creaked open and a short and eerily pale face appeared. "Yes?" It asked simply in a low monotonous voice. "Greetings." replied Dekrin after sending his gaze back to earth. "I'm with the local authorities and I'm here to investigate a potential threat to the locals." "Of course." Replied the head as the doors swung open. "Please come in. It's about to rain."
Dekrin hurried into the main chamber an took a long, hard look around. "Your masters certainly have a... unique taste in art." "Yes." The man replied. Eying Dekrin as he stepped further into the room. "I'm going to need you to show me to the ba-" His words were cut off as the servant smashed a long candelabrum across the back of Dekrins head.

The metal on metal sent a ringing echo throughout the main chamber. The servant stared at the back of Dekrins helmet. Neither it nor any other piece of the armour hit the ground, they only flinched and shook slightly from the impact. Dekrin turned slowly. "What was that for?" was all he said. More curiosity was in his voice than anger or surprise. "Sorry sir," The servant replied, his face and voice still expressionless. "But I was trying to render you unconscious." "Your swing needs a little work." was the last thing the short man heard and a fist flying towards his face was the last thing he saw before everything went black.
After wiping the splatter of blood on his gauntlet, Dekrin placed his hand over the servants now broken nose. Muttering an incantation sent a radiant energy from his hand to the mans face. He took his hand from the mans now healed nose and reached for a spool or rope hanging from his belt. After tying him to a chair, Dekrin opened his metal covered book and into a pouch on his belt. He flipped to a page and pulled forth a glass vial. Popping the top and pouring the contents into his open palm produced a overflow of clear slime and a single eyeball. Bending down on one knee, his hand stretched out, he began reading from the tome. As his voice shifted to and eerie echo his slowly closed his palm and crushed the eye. His incantation ended in a whisper and his hand opening again. The eye had vanished and several glowing spheres shot out into the dark hallways. One sphere stopped short at a trap door at the end of a hallway. Its glow broken by a black pupil emerging and staring through the door, revealing a flight of dusty but frequently traveled steps. The spheres dissipated and Dekrin quickly placed the vial back on his belt and sprinted down the hall, grabbing a curtain along the way, wiping his gauntlet of fluid and tossed it aside.

Dekrin pulled open the trap door at the end of the hallway and gazed into the darkness bellow. He drew the sword at his side and muttered a spell, causing the blade to glow a brilliant white light. With sword pointed forward he began walking down the steps. He put his hand on the wooden rail and it snapped instantly. The piece of railing fell, banging and cracking as it fell into the darkness. Dekrin composed himself and stood silent, waiting for anything. His patience was met with a faint moaning that came from below. He hurried his descent, glowing sword held to see and ready to strike at any moment.
He reached the last step and was met by lifeless machines and mining equipment. The only traces of life ever existing were dried bloodstains and the occasional bone scattered about. Dekrin searched throughout the upturned mine carts, handling some of the black opals scattered across the floor. He turned as he heard another moan coming from behind, pocketing a small handful of the jet-black gemstones. He spotted half of a human form clawing the ground under another cart. Drawing closer revealed the form to be a mindless zombie. Drawing a fist-sized purple gem from his belt he approached the creature, raised his sword and sent it crashing down on its head. The zombie twitched violently as its skull split open. An eerie mist arose from the corpse beginning to take form of a person, only to be absorbed into the purple gem. The spirit swirled inside the gem bouncing off of each facet in a vain attempt to escape. More moaning echoed from the mineshaft.
Dekrin brought the tip of his sword to the ground and traced a series of lines in the dirt. When he finished he nodded at his work, the outline of a large hammer. He placed his sword on the ground on top of the etching and placed the gem and both hands on the flat of the blade. The glowing flickered as the gem and sword began to liquefy and reshape into a war hammer, the gem encrusted in the head. The white light turned to deep lavender. He picked up the hammer and weighed it in both hands, making a few flips and practice swings in the air. The moaning came again and Dekrin turned to face it. He raised the hammer and charged forward.

Dekrin found the creatures huddled together as if they were a single shambling mass of rotting flesh. As he drew nearer the light of his hammer, the sound of his armour and the smell of his life essence sent their nearly broken and severed necks turning. Their eyes gazed upon his form and were filled with a look of hunger and bloodlust. Those without eyes had a red glow in their sockets, their sense of sight replicated by dark energies.
Dekrin rushed forward as the undead shuffled slowly towards him. A quick spell passed through his lips and his body began to gain uncanny momentum. Before the zombies had taken a full 3 paces he was moving in a blur. His hammer flew in a wide arc, striking the first line of zombies and snapping them in half. Before they could drop Dekrin had moved past them and began smashing up the next wave with lightning fast strokes of his weapon. The zombies dropped quickly, smashed heads, severed limbs and snapped spines all twitching then falling lifeless. None of the creatures were quick enough to even touch him.
The cavern was soon devoid of undead and Dekrin stood in the middle, his hammer raised up and the gem inside shining brightly, entrapping the magical energies that leaked from the lifeless bodies. He turned as he heard more moaning coming from another area in the mine. He let out a deep sigh and slowly trekked into the awaiting darkness.

Dekrin now sat on the mine floor, exhausted from his battles. His magic was almost depleted and his body needed rest. The bodies from his last fight lay in pieces all around the floor. The gem in his weapon was filled with energy and now shone constantly with a deep purple light. The various stones and minerals in the cavern walls reflected the light in all directions, causing different shades and hues to dance together as the gem moved and turned in Dekrins hands. He searched through his pack and pulled out a piece of parchment. He read it aloud and it puffed into nothing. He felt a current of energy run through his entire body, feeling like rain falling on his skin. He stood up, still a little tired but, for the most part, rejuvenated. He lifted his hammer, the weight making it hard to swing. His thoughts went to a smaller weapon. The symbols on his gauntlets began to glow as he concentrated and the hammer began to liquefy in his hands. The mass reformed in one hand as a simple shaft with the gem as its head, now covered in spikes. The other hand now held a shield that he strapped to his arm. Shaking off as much fatigue as he could he continued his search for more undead.

Out of the mistful darkness that seemed to procure itself in an unstoppable manner Hiro produced himself to the rear or Dekrin. Silent as the wistful wind that seemingly did not exist in the blackness, Hiro placed himself directly behind the everlasting warrior. "You know, at the rate you keep metamorphing your weapon, you're eventually going to drain yourself of all your energy. Would you like the assistance of an ascending monk? Oh, and do excuse me, I have been following you for quite sometime through the safe passage you have seiged through yourself."

Dekrin turned, hesitating to remember the voice and face. "Very well," He finally answered. "You might as well tell me what you can do before we get into anything hairy."

"Well, as you would have it, I'm more of a priest than any monk. My abilities consist more of a defensive capability rather than skills that bludgenly kill whatever is around me. Now, considering that you are the killing the undead, this is where I will be of most use. I can heal, limited but useful nonetheless, however, healing the undead is a fatal blow to them even if used in small amounts. Holy protection spells are also extremely effective against such creatures. I can even infuse the power of a holy cross into your weapon to make it a massive death dealer to the foes ahead of you. I may be a bit over-exaggerating on the extent of my skills," Hiro gave a slight nervous laugh", but I assure you everyone is as effective."

"Alright then, we better get going. Whatever raised these things might still be around and making more as we speak." He turned and headed down one of the tunnels, signaling for Hiro to follow as he went along.

As Hiro followed, he gazed off into the nothingness that was the floor. "That's exactly what I'm afraid of......", he mumbled underneath his voice.

The two marched for almost a half an hour until the tunnel cut off into a fork. One tunnel continued but the other was a rock staircase. Dekrin stopped at the intersection and stared down each one. "Looks like we're going up." He told Hiro and began to climb, occasionally stopping to check the step ahead and test its strength.
