People keep talking about each one is better than the other.
I for one have the generic DS, while my seven year old brother got a DS lite for his birthday.
Reasons I like my DS: -It's comfortable for people with big hands, namely me. -I think the brightness level is perfect. What I dislike: -The Stylus is too short. Way too short. -If you want to protect the GBA slot then you need to stick a game in there, it doesn't come with the nifty protector like Ds lite.
What I like about DS lite: -It's the same price as normal DS, great reason to get it if you have the choice.(unless your like me and enjoy the original better) -The Stylus is near perfect. What I dislikee: -Too bright, playing in the dark makes my eyes hurt after about fifteen minutes and then they itch and water, it's generally not comfortable for my retenas. -Playing for a while gives my big hands a cramp right under the trigger fingers, not good when playing. Ouchies. -Though it does have the GBA cover thingy, when you play a GBA game, it sticks out like an inch. Very annoying, pissed me off.
They are quite equal in force in my oinion, but I'm sticking whith mine, probably getting an extendable aluminum stylus for it.
biggrin Hope someone read this.
Your lovely Ds player. -Zin.

I think the reason why people are angry is because...
For Original DS owners: They feel like they're being attacked by those that own a DS lite, because they don't want one, or they aren't fortunate enough to get one
For DS lite owners: They feel like they're being attacked by Original DS owners, because they automaticly assume that they bought it just because it's the next thing and judge them as shallow, when they actually own it, because they like it better than the Old DS design, or because it's the first DS they got
So really folks, it's just a case of apples and oranges. If you like one or the other, fine. Just don't start inforcing the idea that yours is superior to the other

They both have their pros and cons, but deep down, they are exactly the same thing. I have a regular DS and my friend recently bought a DS lite. I think they are equally cool, but I think I'm going to stick with my regular DS because I think it's a waste to buy something that you already have. On an unrelated topic, wouldn't there be issues with the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection if you switch to another DS?

I think it's all a matter of opinion gone horribly wrong. Just ignore the guys who say "oh such-and-such is better" and you'll have no worries. Just a usual debate going on like with so many other video game issues..... xp

okay, how is it bad to 'HAVE' to have a GBA game in the original DS? I like having an extra game in there. I can't stand that the Lite can't hoold a GBA game correctly and you have to stick a protector on it for it to look right. And everyone criticizes the DS's stylus for being to small, but it you find a comfortable way to hold it like I did, It's the perfect size. but whatever, can't blame you for wanting a bigger stylus. Another thing is I don't like how the Lite looks. It really bugs me. And a lot of people, including Nintendo, have completely shunned the DS since the Lite came out. I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy, but when Nintendo does something wrong i'm going to point it out. All their comercials now show the Lite and not the original. and I hate when people mess with something so good. I know this is a bit repetitive from another thread but dangit! I stick to my guns.

It just ticks me off when everybody shuns the old new thing for the new new thing and don't even give it any thought! and whenever I say that they start shoving a frickin' factsheet of everything good about the DS Lite.

(Sorry, I'm trying my best not to aggravate anyone here sweatdrop ) And that's fine, but you also have to understand that a lot of us perfer the new design to the old one. It's more than just it has a brighter screen or that it's smaller, it's also just the prefrance on the person who bought it, such as myself. Since day one I hated the design of the DS when it came out. The cheap silver paint, the click-in buttons, the whole clam shell design of it, that when the DS lite was anounced it gave me a breath of fresh air. If you like the old design, fine. If you like the new design, fine. Just it isn't something to get angry about. The people that got the DS lite just because it was the new one are shallow, but they're one of those people who have to be the early adopters, and I can respect that. However, anyone who starts to preach that their model is better than the other, I lose all respect for. And, I think I lost track of what I was saying half way through that confused

Well, I bought a black ds lite while I was in ireland, and here's my stance on it. Sure, I love my DS, and it's been great to me all these years, but I was able to get a lite because my parents could afford it for me, yeah, I guess I'm spoiled, but also I wasn't just throwing out my old DS, I have now gave it to my mom, as she loves brain age. And the thing is for me, when you play DS, the DS tends to look big and bulky, and mine was really worn looking. With my DS lite however, people will look at it and see a cool sleek gaming machine, and it can make people want ds more because it does look cool. Also, the screen brightness really is better. I have been playing meteos, and oh my, has this become a whole new game for me. The richness of the color adds a new depth to the game, and just makes it look so much more visually appealing. And also the lite fits into my pocket better, as sometimes my pockets are filled with many things. And now people can't turn it off on me when I'm trying to play a game in school. The reason why Nintendo is promoting the ds lite so much more now than the original is because it really does look better, and it promotes a cleaning sleeker look for the ds, it really has made a lot more people look into it. But yes, don't go throwing out or discrediting the old ds. In reality, yes, they are the same machine. Though you can say some aspects of the lite are better, such as the brightness and clarity, it all comes down to you choosing which one to get. Well, that's what I have to say, feel free to criticise, after all, I do love a good debate.

DS Lite and the DS are the exact same system, y people cant handle that is unknown to me. I love them both, ive got a DS my bro has a DS Lite. Theres no difference in game play except a brighter screen, but the light setting on the DS Lite can be set to a lower one so sometimes I play his just for the heck of it. I love DS's and always am playing mine. Although currently not many worth buying games are for the DS, they ARE EXACTLY THE SAME! OH MY GOD! Ive noticed how some people think they are better just cuz they have a DS lite which pisses me off. Like my friend, he has a ds lite and believes hes the greatest just cuz none of us other folk have a ds lite, we only have a ds. that really pisses me off when that happens. but hey, what are you gonna do? Oh well, the fact is, DS and DS lites are the same beautiful system with the same beautiful games. Im a total Nintendo Junky so I would probably notice any differences in the game play or games depending on the DS to the DS Lite.
