There will be some serious SMOTING if they ******** it up the way Hollywood screwed over plain ol' Dungeons and Dragons. Like, serious takin' it up the butt smoting, the sort that, if it doesn't kill ya, will leave you in therapy and medication for the rest of your [the director's] life. stare
Other than that, I'm quite excited.

Raistlin of Krynn I'd rather see a Live action version. There will be something lost in animation... It doesn't have the popularity to be a live action. Look how long it took for Lord of the Rings to be made, and though it was really good it still didn't do the books justice. I'm afraid that an animated movie is probably the best we'll ever see. Personally, it's more than I ever though we would get. With Margaret and Tracy having script and art approval, it should help alot.

Yeah, but remember what happened when the original Lord of the Rings cartoon was done...
Who knows, if the cartoon does well, maybe a live action trilogy will follow soon.
I just hope they don't do it like "Clone Wars" or try to make it Anime. There's enough yaoi/shonen-ai fangirls as it is...I would hope to keep Dragonlance away from that.

Official Movie website: here. I'm still looking, but hopefully it will answer our q's. The faq is about as informal as we'll get at this early date. They have Tanis and Tas cast.

I'm a bit more apprehensive after reading that cast list... or what there is of it. Which is Tanis, Goldmoon, and Tas.

I dunno...I'll believe this, but never in history has a site that was created by fans tracking down rumors been asked to be the official site. The Studio Marketing Dept. always set the official web site up. I've seen this site several times in the past and it jumps the gun quite a bit. Though I believe the movie is being made, as Mrs. Weis doesn't get overly excited like Tracy Hickman does when they are in talks (He's always been the first to announce that "We're making a movie!"...the last 12 times it was being talked about). Weis at least waited until it was given a green light.
Anyways, I'd wait until its farther into production before calling that the official site.

Yes, though DL nexus is somewhat reliable, keep in mind that the "official site" has claimed the same thing with the studios for the last 3 or 4 Dragonlance "Movies" that were supposedly in production.
I'd suggest seeing if it's linked from the Paramount studios website before deeming it the Official site. I could be wrong, but believe me the Production Company's Marketing Dept usually sets up the Website. I've never seen a site made to track down rumors asked to be an official site...oh wait...yes I have... with the Dragonball Z movie that was reported then proven to be a hoax...even after it was announced on the DBZ website. They had "interviews" with people for that one too, but it all was disproven when the Studio said, "We have not obtained the rights or permission to do this film...it is not being made at this time".
I'm not calling the DragonLance animated movie a hoax, just to be a little more skeptical at what is being called the "Official News" until you hear more from the Production Studio.
