Hehe, I was just wondering.... cause when I put them onto my mp3 player a little while ago, they were classified differently with each album. I think there were 3 or so, "General Metal", "Alternative/Rock" and I think maybe "Punk/Pop".
So, what genre do you think would best describe them?

why ISN'T sexy a genre? ...well they do vary in each album...I can't classify them as a band. But I'd say their self-titled is pop/punk and SWG is experimental/electra...the other three are lost on me cause most of the songs themselves on those albums themes and styles vary. to sum it up my children.... ninja pirates are kool on t-shirts and movies but ninjas are kool for life

Well, that's what I was thinking when I posted this topic... they have a different feel for each album, so could they be classified as Experimental?? I think it fits the band 3nodding
And btw, Pirates > Ninjas!

Nah, not experiemental. The Residents are experimental, and Placebo is about as far away from The Residents as you can get.

I heard an interview where they were talking about how after this new album all the reporters said that they went from Goth to Glam and they always thought they were rock and roll, but if you look at thier MySpace, it says they're Alternative, so go figure...

They aren't goth. Not at all. And they never were goth.
They have some Cure influence, but even the Cure were questionably goth.

I've always considered them alternative. Especially because they change styles like every album. sweatdrop
