Anybody have individuals in their family who are also bipolar?
My mom was diagnosed in college, but she only took Lithium for a little while and then never treated it again. I've never noticed any bipolar behavior out of her, but my dad is totally a textbook case (he's the type that doesn't really believe in psychiatry).
Oh, and my paternal cousin was recently diagnosed bipolar. Other than bipolar, alcoholism runs on my mother's side, and my maternal cousin attempted suicide last year.

I suspect that my father is. But like your dad, my father would just assume not acknowledge he has any issues, let alone talk to a shrink.

My father was bipolar, yes. A couple of other people on my father's side of the family are bipolar and a lot of other people in my family have been diagnosed with other disorders. It runs in the family, I guess.

My father is bipolar, but he'd die before he went to a psychatirst to get put on medication. He's avoident, and thinks I'm insane half of the time. My grandfather (my father's dad) is also probably bipolar. I don't know anything else from there.

My dad is super bipolar, and he's been on meds for it as long as I can remember. He's has really low lows, and really high highs. I'm not the same as him at all. I have never been on meds (I have something against meds... don't ask), and my ups and downs are generally under control.

My husband is bipolar, and so am I.
Any kids we have will more than likely be bipolar. (and left-handed, since we're both lefties, too. wink )
