I was re-playing FF7 for the 5th time and I realized something. You see, the reason (I've found) Sephiroth has attempted complete distruction and caused constant mishap is not solely due to the fact that he wants to reach the Promise Land. It's also because he's pissed that he was "created" by a race that practically killed off his race and made an abomination of his mother. After getting through the Corel Prison, I realized that Dyne has worse intentions for a worse cause! He wanted to destroy everything, not to make the world better, just to destroy everything. Sephiroth did it to also make a better home for his race. Dyne wanted all of what's good in existance to siese. Also, I think I'd rather have my wife be killed and sent to heaven because of a mistake a friend made rather than my entire race enihlated by the same race that tortured my mother and created many deformed brothers and I. My point is, why do many people consider Dyne a "good guy" that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yet, they consider Sephiroth to be a mindless mass murderer just because he's better at what he does? That doesn't make sense to me. Also, Sephiroth spent a LONG time thinking out his actions and considering what he's going to try to accomplish. For people that either think Sephiroth is NOT a bad guy or think that Dyne IS a bad guy, this doesn't directly apply to you but feel free to post more input if you feel it's necessary. Please refrain from flamming! It's against the rules!

Dyne is far worse than Sephiroth cuz Dyne says before you fight him that he wants to kill Marlene cuz his wife is crying in heaven and wants company.

Nither are truly bad because due to different reasons both went insane, and an insane percon has no controle of their actions.

I'm going to have to disagree. Yes, I can belive Dyne went insane. However, Sephiroth spent many years study'n and finding out just who he is. Also, Sephiroth takes time in planning out his next moves and is constantly reminding himself of his motive and goal. These aren't the actions a clinically insane person would take. I know from experiance that someone in such a state of mentality acts on instinct and never looks at things from heinsight.

Sephiroth wanst all that bad, he did what he wanted without caring about the concequeces. He did snap when he found out he was created, but thought he was created to bring back justice to his race. So he went hell bent and kicked a**. Cept he went too far with Meteor sweatdrop & killing Aeris. crying

Dyne was just plain insane, he would destroy everything if he could. That guy had problems 3nodding

Sephiroth. He killed Aeris, wants to kill the planet, and is obsessed with the Promised land and Jenova and keeps toying with Cloud's mind.

Dyne just fought Barret and said mean stuff. sweatdrop

I agree that Dyne was bad, although Spehiroth was bad, he has no excuse for the crimes he commited, as stated earlier, he summoned meteor and was continueously toying with clouds mind. Apparent;y he needs to get a life.......lol.

He summon the meteor for himself to become god, The meteor will do massive damage to the earth which crys in pain, if it success then he will be able to absorb the energy that the planet use to heal itself (which contain souls) that why he killed Aeris to stop her chanting and join the planet if you hear Sephiroth that. But he is awesome, I guess Dyne could be bad murdering people in the golden sacucer. (can't spell) xp

NO NO NO!! (not to really disagree with everyone but...) Sephiroth wasn't the one doing that, in a way. It was Jenova controlling him, and telling him what to do, I mean, the who ancients thing might of had a bit to do with it, but it was Jenova who was telling him to kill them, just like how cloud almost killed Aeris himself!

So did Hannibal Lector... I feel Sephiroth is worse than Dyne. Ever of hot and cold crimes? Hot crimes are crimes done under passion; they're typically unplanned. The kind of crimes that Dyne committed... he did not take the time to rationalize his actions. While his reasons may not be as big as Sephiroth's his lack of consideration for his actions becomes evident in his suicide.
Now, Sephiroth... as you said took time, a great deal of it, and considered his actions and planned his every move. Sephiroth committed what would be considered cold crimes. He was not driven by a blinding passion like Dyne. He took that time to consider what was the best move that Dyne didn't and still decided to continue.
You could also consider it like this... Hypothedical situation...
Dyne crimes: This could be considered as like this... say Dyne had been happily married for years. He suddenly walks in on his wife and the man she was having an affair with and in the heat of the moment grabbed his gun and shots them both without thinking just angry.
Sephiroth's crimes: Now, in a similiar situation, Sephiroth discovers some things aren't right and realizes that not only is his wife cheating on him but they were stealing money from him and trying to socially/politically ruin him. Now, they don't know he knows and he has time to consider his options and instead of turning them over to the police or, something along those lines, he still plans how he going to kill the two.
I hope you guys understand that.
So that's why Dyne was considered mislead psycho while Sephiroth was considered a cold-blooded murder. But Sephiroth being so "evil" is what makes him such a great villian.
