I can't believe there was no thread for the funniest character in DL.
Tasslehoff brought a much needed comedy element to the series. Also, his "Innocence Lost" journey he takes shows much character growth and adds a touch of sadness as well.
My only problem with Tasslehoff is.....they won't let him die! I realize he's a popular character. But I'm tired of Raistlin and Tasslehoff popping up again and again.
When characters die I like them to stay dead. When a person has to fear for their favorite character there is a deeper connection. But if they always come back from the dead then that sence of fear and concern is taken away.
That's the same reason I don't watch anime anymore.

so true
But I think Tas popping up like he did worked for the story.
I'd have to say one of my favorate Tas moments outside of 90% of his stuff in Chronicles and Legends, was the "Kender Spoon of Turning". LMAO! The damn thing still had jam on it from his meal rofl

While he is technically only a supporting character, I fell that he cuts straight through to the heart of the story. We feel as he feels. He's the emotional anchor to the series, which is probably why Weis & Hickman have a hard time keeping him dead.

Very true. Tas also experiences the most growth as a character of all the companions, with maybe the exception of Caramon.

Yeah, a lot of the other characters are introduced to you as how we generally perceive them. Kit has always been a militant and somewhat of a pushy lady, nudge nudge wink wink. Caramon has always been 'big and stupid.' The elves, with the exception of Tanis, who is absolutely riddled with human angst, and Dalamar, who was 'cast from the light,' always seemed somewhat shallow to me, both in personality and as characters. Even Raistlin hasn't experienced growth as much as we've slowly unpeeled his habits and true nature from him. That boy has more layers than an ogre. Or an onion.

I think originally Tas was only there for comic relief. But as the story went on he became an essential backbone to the series becaus of his innocence.
Everything he did was to "help" someone or to "keep them from being lonely" or whatever.
Though when I first read him swearing like Flint I laughed out loud and made the other people in the area look at me as if I were nuts.
Haven't made it to the "Spoon of Kender Turning" part yet. Heck... I can't even find that danged Book out here!

As Weis and Hickman say, Tas is great becuase he doesn't try to be! He's just himself, and never attempts to be the epitome of greatness.

Tasselhoff is a truly wonderful character. He's there along with Flint to provide comic relief and to contrast characters like Tanis and Riverwind. The brothers Majere too, to a degree. I like Tas in that he's not like other kender. He can feel fear now - not for himself, except in the Shoikan Grove - but for his friends. He also helps to provide some truly heartbreaking scenes, like Bupu's testimony before the Conclave of Wizards, and when the Knights were killing the dragon that killed Sturm, not to mention when his friend Gnimsh the Gnome was killed by Raistlin (crazy kaq archmage scream ! Don't go pawing at other people's lives!)

Poor Tas went Squish!
but in going squish he gave big mean giant Chaos a paper cut and thus he was defeated.
Give a hand for Tas.
I loved how no one had the heart to tell Tas that the spoon was just an ordinary spoon whenever he brough it out. Heck, Palin even ENCOURAGED him at one point.

Tas is the best kender in DL hands down. He's so funny...yet he knows how to show a more serious game face, too. I want....to pet him..and give him a cookie.
