Well After I get it warmed up it sputter's really bad then back fire's. It has no power when it does this I'll actually slow down. One time it did it I couldn't go 10 MPH in first. By the time I got to 5th I was going 40 and that's as fast as I could go. If It's doing it and I push the clutch in and rev the moter It'll be fine for a little while. Some time's If I just floor it it'll Backfire a few times then take off like a bat out of hell. I put some injecter cleaner in it but that didn't do it. Now Im going to replace the fuel filter see if that helps. We went though the comp. program and found out it's got a bad O2 Cencor so I mite replace that too. My dad said I don't need to replace the O2 cencer yet b/c the Check engine light hasn't come on yet but the Mantince Requried light has been on since I got it. I cleaned the cap and rotar and checked the Plug wires but that didn't do crap. What do you guy's think it mite be?

Well you covered everything I would check/replace. Maybe your fuel pump is going. Even worst case, your heads could have a crack in them, but it wouldn't get better if that happened. Just check the filter, plugs, even the gas if the truck has been sitting for a while. That should cover it.

Is the engine Timing correct? Sounds retarded to me.

It's geting worse. I was driveing my G/f home tonight and I almost couldn't make it up the first hill (I live in a really hilly place) So I had to floor it down the hill's then hope I made it up the next. Well the truck was siting but that was about 5 tank's ago so I dought that, that's it. I guess I should try a new fuel pump. Yeah I doubt it's the head's. Timeing should be fine. If it wasn't it would of been like this since I got it. The strange thing is the Gas milage just jumped up. My dad drove it a few month's back and took it very easy and only got 14mpg. I drove the piss out of it and Im geting almost 18mpg. So I think it's deffently something in the fuel system b/c it's acting almost like it's not geting enough fuel. My dad's going to get a filter from his shop tomorow and Im going to see if that does it. If it's not that then Im just going to check stuff and hope it stops I guess. Im geting a job this week so Im just going to save money and buy another Jeep to make mine a 4x4 and maybe try to convert it over to the newer V8's there running in the Cherokee's but thats too much wireing for me so I'll prob. just get an older V6.

it doesnt sound like the filter, causing that much trouble, however it could be your fuel pump. Yet, in most cases the deterioration of the fuel pump isnt so sudden and it is noticeable before it gets that bad, unless its completely gone gonk

Well I think I figured it out. My truck's just jelous of my G/f. I don't drive her to school so It never happen's. Tonight she had to work so I just drove home and nothing happend. 3nodding

Well my dad's still convinced it the filter. Im not sure at all. If it's not that then I guess I got to change the damn pump... That's going to suck Is my truck new enough to have the pump in the tank? I hope not. Usually replaceing the pump on my VW's is simple b/c it on top of the moter. Why the hell do they put them in the tank now?

Yeah fixed the prob. I got a new truck and slaped a For Sale sign in the back of mine. I was going to fix it but then my nabor decided to sell her 91 GMC Sonoma 4.3L with 95K mile's. So I bought that. It's a hell of a lot better than my jeep.

Yeah I got one pic. of my jeep that I can have scaned. but I have no pics. of the sonoma yet. I got to get it runing right first it won't idle you have to drive with 2 feet one covering the breack and one on the gas so it don't die. I've accedetly breack torqued it a few time's already. This thing's a ******** power house. I can't wait to get it on the road. After school yesterday my dad made me go to his shop. He had a S-10 with Camaro Wheel's and a Pioneer Stereo. So He brought it home and put those part's on while I was at work. He also turned the Air fiter over so now there's a gap so I can get more air. My buddy thought it was a high Performance air cleaner so I had to explain to him that, that's what they did to muscle cars for more power and a cool sound. So Now sounds good look's good but run's like crap.

What do you mean they break easly? I thought it was suposted to be a tuff truck. The only thing Im worried about is the trans.

the 4.3 has motor problems. do not run the crap out of it. if you do it will break quickly. is it 4wd or no? so long as you keep the maintenance up on it you should be fine. how many miles?

Its got 95K mile's. Its 2wd. For the first 60K miles of it's life it had a guy drive it. He put in a Performance chip and my dad saw him spin the tire's out of the shop almost every day. Then for the next 5 year's it's been owned by an old lady that never really drove it so the Gas was all crapy So I figure the probs. it's haveing are in the fuel system. Oh I'll defenetly take good car of it. I mite ever once in a while spin the tires leaveing school. I guess it all depends a on who's around and if one of my girlfriend's is rideing along.

You can probs get another 100k out of it if you play your cards right. We had a chrystler minivan at my work with 235k miles on it, and it actually ran beautifully, except the AC had just recently died in July.
We sold it to some guy for $500 and made his day.

200 thousand miles is a possibility but more than likely unless it is a manual trans the trans wont make it to that far. does it have a posi unit in it? if so watch out on water as there isnt much weight on the back and they will spin around quite quickly. i would recomend having your fuel system cleaned(most shops do it) that may help your problem.
