I just got done working my butt of at the largest anime and video gaming convention in florida ^_^ it was a blast! I'm just curious whether or not any of you actually go to cons.

No, I don't, but I would love to go to one. Many of my friends have gone to them. I have trouble getting to them, unfortunately. It sounds like a great deal of fun, though. I really wish I could go to one.

My Friend went to the Comic Convention in Motor City (Detriot for those of you not fluent in Michigan terms)
I was so jealous of him.

Storm Slayer Wh . . .what?! Chess? Now I want to go even more! About what percent of the people there dress up as anime/manga characters? Are there any that don't? Depends on the con and the year, and how hard the outfits are in the most popular animes really. This year with metro it was about 1 out of 4 or 5 who were out of costume which is a lot considering that this years metro blew last years out of the water in attendance and last year we had 3500 people(I have gotten the actual numbers on this year yet or I would tell you a little more specifically.)

Comic coneventiosn are a little more creepy I think, the fans aren't really as open and fun as they are at anime & videogame cons from what I've heard. But that depends on which ones you go to and where I guess. ^_^

This coming weekend is Anime Expo...the largest anime con in the USA! The last 2 years I worked as a volunteer...it is a lot of work! Its fun though, and you get to meet new people and have fun. I'll be going just as an attendee this year. Starts July 1 and goes through the 4th if anyone is going to be in the Los Angeles, California area! http://www.anime-expo.org/

Wish you could go! Its like heaven for anyone who loves anime and asian culture!
Lets see....I'll try and hit all the big highlights...There are:
LOTS and LOTS of Cosplayers
AX Idol contest...listen to ppl compete in singing their favorite anime theme song biggrin
Jpop concerts!! This year was Yozuca* who sings the opening to Da Capo and Girl's Bravo!
4 Video Rooms, 1 Film room showing anime on BIG screen, some of them 1st time screenings. Saw the new Full Metal Alchemist movie coming out in August I think?
Exhibit hall with possibly over 100 vendors selling everything from DVDs to manga to swords to plushies to outfits to video games to figures to art books to graphic programs to gatchapon.
Meet and get autographs of some of the people who make anime happen biggrin This year it was CLAMP!!! Also there were Laura Bailey (english voice of Tohru in Furuba!) Crispin Freeman (from Hellsing) Vic Mignogna (Ed from FMA and Kurtz from FMP)
Get news from industry panels on the direction of the anime industry, new titles being acquired, and provide feedback to the companies on what you want.
Anime Music Video contest biggrin
Masquerade contest... dress up as your favorite anime char as a group and put on a skit! Some of them are really funny biggrin I couldn't get in this year...got in line too late and the room was full sweatdrop
Anime Game shows!
Console gaming...arcade room (with DDR of course biggrin )
Karaoke contest
Animatsuri festival, and yes, you can scoop for fish and take them home! Booths with traditional Japanese food too!
Kimono workshop, Tea ceremony, traditional dancing
Dance with DJ's playing Jpop
I'm sure I didn't get everything lol. And there's no way that you can do it all in 4 days.

The Comic-Con MOAC (Mother of all Cons) is this weekend in San Diego, CA. A little too far for me to drive to, and with work I'm not going. Next year though!
