I know there's an anime thread around here somewhere, but this thread is about your first anime! What was it? How did you come across it? Did it open to door for you to other anime, or did it take a while for you to come to like other shows?
Discuss!

I'll start!
My first anime was a show called "Iria: Apprentice Monster Hunter." (The REAL title is "Bounty Hunter", but I guess it was changed for TV.)
This was back when my parents were still together... So I was probably in 5th or 6th grade. I asked to stay up late to watch this cartoon I had seen commercials for (I think it was on SciFi?), and my dad said sure. I watched it in their room on their little TV so I wouldn't wake up my sister because we shared a room at the time.
This show is NOT age-appropiate for a 5th or 6th grader. xd There's guns and blood and death and fighting. But I liked it. I actually didn't watch any other anime for quite some time after that... I eventually watched Digimon, Sailor Moon, and Dragonball Z. I really liked DBZ, though I saw it on a month or so ago and it is by far one of the WORSTLY DEVELOPED SHOWS EVAH. The plot sucks, the animation is shoddy... But there are a couple cute anime-guys, so I'll forgive it (AKA Vegeta and Trunks and older Gohan. xp )
So that was my experiance. I don't like most of the animes on Cartoon Network nowadays. But then again, I've come to like manga more. whee

eek I can't remember my first anime. I was so young. It was probably Robotech or Vampire Hunter D. To this day Vampire Hunter D is still my favorite. I discovered anime through my older brother, who is ten years older than me.
Vampire Hunter D isn't the best thing for a small child to be watching but I turned out just fine. *is secretly plotting to take over the world* ninja

I saw the freiza saga in japan in 1991, I was 7 years old. If the Thundercats or Transformers count, then I saw my first anime when I was 4 or 5.

I was there since Season one and I'm proud of it 3nodding

That was the first quality anime I saw, on Sci-Fi's Anime Summer in 1997, along with Armitage III, which was also very good.
