Want to attend a convention but don't know which one to go to?
Trying to find information on a certain con but have no idea where to look?
Never been to a con and want to know more about it?
This is where you can come to find information about various anime conventions! I'll be posting links to different convention sites and giving little bits of information about them.

Otakon
This is directly from the site:
"Otakon is the convention of the otaku generation: by fans, for fans ? and we're about to throw the best con yet. (Yes, we say that every year.) We believe Otakon to be the biggest and best celebration of Japanese animation, manga, J-pop, and east Asian culture in the world."
Otakon is held in Baltimore, Maryland during the period of August 4th-August 6th, 2006 at the Baltimore Convention Center. This con is the largest anime con in the east coast. This year attendance will be capped and hotels are going fast. If you plan on going to this con, I suggest planning for it A.S.A.P.

AnimeNEXT
AnimeNEXT is held in Sacaucus, New Jersey during the period of June 16th-June 18th, 2006 at the Meadowlands Expo Center.

AnimeExpo is held in Anaheim, California during the period of July 1st-July 4th, 2006 at the Anaheim Convention Center. This con is the largest anime con on the west coast!

Anime Boston
Anime Boston is held in Boston, Massachusetts (duh!) during the period of May 26th-May 28th, 2006 at the Hynes Convention Center. This is the largest anime con in New England.

FanimeCon
This is directly from the site:
"In FanimeCon's eleven-year span, we have grown to be one of the largest anime conventions in the country, home to panels, videos and video premieres, special guest appearances, concerts, and more."
FanimeCon is held in San Jose, California during the period of May 26th-May 29th, 2006 at the San Jose McEnery Convention.

PortConMaine
This is directly from the site:

Well, this sounds pretty fun! ^^ According to Bunny porn!, there are themes every year, and this year is pirates! (Last year was the ninja ninja ).
PortConMaine is held in Portland, Maine during the period of June 30th-July 2nd, 2006 at the Sheraton Hotel & Resort.

Last Otakon my friend (Youko Kali) and I dressed up as Hiei and Youko Kurama...(can you guess who was youko kurama? xd ) Anyway, on the second day, she asks for a piggy back ride, so I give her one and as we're going down the hallways, guys stop us to take pictures because, come on, how often do you see Hiei giving Youko Kurama a piggy back ride?! blaugh And on the third day I carried her bridal-style down a hallway... people got out of the way and were clapping and cheering!!! blaugh heart Otakon is one of the few places you can do that and I loved it!!!!

lol! that's great! xd
my first year cosplayin' at fanime was last year and i did a REALLY quick dress of shuuichi (i'm goin' again as him this year...kind of ^^U) and i got my little sister to do a quick cosplay of ryuuichi. while walking around looking at the food we could buy, we hear behind us "HOT YAOI!" from the yaoi stand (heh heh).
my sister pulled me over to look at the yaoi stuff and like at one point i was kind of fadin' out when i hear someone go "HEY SHUICHI! WHERE'S UR YUKI?!" and i turn around cuz someone finally knew who i was. i'm like "....i dunno. *looks around* omg, no seriously where did my friends go?!" and i freaked out cuz i had actually lost them.
some ppl were like going "aww!" and kind of laughing cuz i looked so sad. then i saw my friend and attacked him. he has blonde hair so they all clapped loudly and went "THEY'RE BACK TOGETHER!" my poor friend was so confused (he hadn't been converted yet) so i go "just pretend"
then my little sister ran up with a dog leash and goes "LOOK! I FOUND IT!" and we all burst out laughing. i tried it on and my friend yanked on it. he then chuckled and went "mmm the power..." and started to drag me away when the guy goes "u need ta pay for it!"

omg that's awesome!!! xd I'm going as Yuki to Otakon this year. 3nodding heart I can't wait. I'm already blonde, but I'm going to dye it...more blonde. xd And cut it, of course. *squee!!!* whee I can't wait! ...is it sad the only time I really get "FWA! *squee*" is for Otakon? sweatdrop

@ Maron - Ya, but my mom still hasn't said "Yes you can go" Yet. Remember how she said she'd ask my dad? gonk I really hope I can go though. Then I can latch onto your leg and stuff cool
@ Maki - From the past anime cons I went to the sweaty fanboys hung around the DDR machine. surprised Then again I don't pay much attention to the people around me... just the stuff and cosplayers around me.
