my mom is bipolar and i spent most of my childhood thinking that it was just an excuse... and watching everyone else feel the same way about her. now i have SOMEONE telling me that i just use it as an excuse. I DON'T EVEN TALK ABOUT PERSONAL CRAP TO ANYONE BUT HIM!!! SO HOW CAN IT BE AN EXCUSE!? he said he was sorry. we were just in a fight at the time and he didn't really mean it. but it sruck a chord...

my friends used to say that abotu my ex-boy toy when we were still dating. That always made me made. I saw home much he hurt. Feeligns are never wrong. No one could hurt that much for no reason.

None of my friend's have ever said that about me, but now that you brought it up, I think they probably think that way. Some days I'll be really... down... for absolutely no reason. My friends will bother me asking me what's wrong repeatedly. I just tell them that nothing's wrong, I'm just mopey, but they keep asking. Sometimes I'll say "I'm bipolar" and that's all, so I'm sure they think it's my excuse so I don't have to tell them what's wrong.

god i hate when people say im using it as an excuse....tbey dont know what im going through so how would they know....i sometimes i wish people could take a walk in my shoes....but i know that probably wont happen, so i just try to be patient....the other day, my mom said she didnt know whether to believe me when i say i cant do something cuz of the med switches or side effects, or when i call from school and say im too depressed to function in school, or dont feel good or whatever...that made me so mad, especially when shes been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, and she tells me almost the same things all the time, and i say ok, cuz i understand....why doesnt she understand, it upsets me to think she doesnt believe me....

Well there's a big difference between someone who recognizes, respects, and treats their disorder, and someone who was told they have it, and blame their behavior on it. I know I've seen people be total assholes and then say, "Well I can't help it because I'm bi-polar." I'm bi-polar too but that doesn't mean I am going to be an a*****e and blame it on the disorder. If I'm an a*****e it's because I'm in a pissy mood, not because I am bi-polar. Savvy?
