Mithandrel Beatrix Hallows Gender: Female Age: 23 Birthday: Dec 1st Height: 5'7"
Brief History: Mithandrel spent her childhood with her parents, in another city from Hawick. It was a small city, but, still a city, and she often yearned to permanantly reside with her grandparents, in Hawick. She had often stayed during the summer with her grandparents, till their deaths when she was 12. She hadn't been there since, but during those summers, she had studied the animals that lived in the area. When she wasn't in Hawick, she mentally devoured any and all information she could find on Mythical and Abnormal creatures and beings. when she was 14, her parents divorced, and she traveled with her father all over the world, gaining the opportunity to study different creatures on every single contenant. Even with this much interest and time spent on studying and learning about things such s the Loch Ness Monster, Tao Tie, and Bufeo Colorado, just to name a few, she never grew tired of the topic. In fact, she only became more intrigued. She studied for almost 8 years, before she recieved a letter stating that she was the owner of the Hallows House, in Hawick. She decided this would be an excellent place to call home, and to settle down for a while, and study in one place.
Lecture: (Done in RP format)
*Mithandrel stood in front of the blackboard, smiling at her students. She had the class set up in her backyard, so they could be comfortable, enjoy the weather, and watch the animals that often wandered onto the property. She turned, and wrote "Bufeo Colorado" on the board in white chalk, while speaking* "Today class, we'll be speaking of the illusive Bufeo Colorado, a Brazillian Mythical creature. As we spoke of before, many creatur- Trysta, did you just feed your blob a jellybean? ...What flavor? ....Can I have some? Oh wait, nevermind. Teaching, right..." *She looked back at the board* "Where was.. Oh right! Many mythical creatures are spoken of in folklore, and unbeknownst to non magical folk, these stories and legends often ring quite a bit of truth. In the instance of the Bufeo Colorado... Has anyone heard of that creature before? Can anyone give me the other name for it? Trysta? Yes, yes! The Pink Dolphin. Good job, you read the book." *She smiled, and turned back to the board, writing 'The Pink Dolphin in Black Water', starting to draw a dolphin rather well next to the words* "This particular legend speaks of a race of Gods that live below the surface of the Amazon river, in beautiful cities far well below the range of the eye. At night, these Gods occasionally rise out of the water in the form of man, with one exception. They have blowholes on the top of their heads. If you follow the Bufeo Colorado back, and are lured into the water, the legend says you become so enchanted that you will never return." *She took a breath, and looked back to her class* "While the legend is close to true, the Bufeo Colorado are not in fact Gods, and there are no cities. Instead, they are a type of nymph, luring unsuspecting people into the water to feed off of. Just another reason to b- DIMARCO! Did you just put your blob into your mouth?! .....Do you know where it's been recently? .....I thought not." *Mithandrel went to hand out papers with images of the Bufeo Colorado, still continueing the class*
Lesson Plan: Includes feeding and careing for blobs given to the class at the begining of the semester, logging changes, as well as interacting with other various creatures that Mithandrel brings in. There will be tests, pop quizes, and very occassional, feild trips.
Sample Assignment: Students are to think of a common animal, such as a squirrel, horse, cow, and write a legend about them, speaking of mythical properties the animal may have. Legend must be 300 words or more.

Profile
Name: Raawiya Zere Age: 29 Sex: Female Race: Human -subclass: African-American Height: 5'10 (without her shoes) Weight: 170lbs Eye colour and shape: Large and expressive, honey coloured. Hair colour and style: Dark brown curls that are held in a loose pony tail and reach the small of her back. Skin colour: Dark tan.
Appearance: Raawiya's good bone structure, and muscled limbs have gained a layer of fat over the course of her life, making her look chubbier and more rounded. She has a classic pear-shaped figure, with her tiny shoulders, average bosom, large hips, and shapely thighs and calves. Delicate features are set into a cheerfully round face, with high cheekbones and a full mouth offsetting large eyes. A simple silver nose ring gives tribute to her continued youth, and contacts replace her need for glasses.
Personality: Raawiya is one of those people you'd call 'larger than life' (no pun intended). She has a very excentric personality, and often seems strict or harsh to people meeting her for the first time - one of the many reasons that rarely ever are there more than a handful of people in her classes. But, when one takes the time to listen to her and get to know her, she becomes less of an imposing figure, and more of a motherly one. Raawiya likes to think of herself as a mother to all the students she sees dayly, and more often than not she has a dish of goodies for them sitting on her desk when they come in for their herbology lessons.
Lecture: In rp form.
Waiting for her students to make their way in from the outter gardens, Professor Raawiya Zere (known as Raya to her students) read over the notes she had outlined for that days class. The students came into the herbology room in clumps, three students here, another four there, and then lastly - one student hurried to take his seat as she got up to close the door behind the handful of students who made up her class. She couldn't help but smile as she noticed that each student had made a run by of her desk to pick up one of the cookies she had made for them last night, walking the edge of her desk to stand infront of it's mahogny surface and face the sea of chattering students.
Crossing her hands over her torso she clasped them infront of her as she cleared her throat to grab the attention of the students who were rapidly gaining in volume. It only took that simple gesture and a pointed look at one or two of the students who didn't take the previous hint to calm the room. Those that kept returning to the class day after day were there to learn, and thus it was easy to keep them under control from the beginning to the end of the lecture.
"Today, class, we're going to be talking about plants with magical attributes and how they are used in normal society." Bringing her clasped hands up to a position just below her chin, Zere rolled her wrists, sighing with relief as she heard the barely audible cracks that emitted from her knuckles and felt the pressure that had build, dissipate. "Most normals don't understand the magical means behind the herbs and flowers they have in their gardens or in their lives. Who can tell me -ONE- type of flower that normals use, which contains a magical attribute they don't use to it's potential?"
Suveying the classroom, Zere nodded to a hand she saw in the back of the classroom. "The floors yours." She murmured, resting back against her desk as she watched the shy young man stand slowly to his feet and shift from one to the other, chewing on his lower lip nervously.
"Well, Lavender is one.. Raya." He half-whispered, voice weak and a little shakey. Zere suspected that the boy had never answered a question in her class before and smiled, nodding her encouragement for him to continue. And continue he did, voice growing stronger in a subtle way at her approval, "While most normals only see Lavender as a pretty flower, they often overlook the fact that it has soothing and restorative properties, and is also used for protection and purification."
"Yes. Good." Zere nodded to the boy, standing up straight again as he sat down at his lab-table. "Lavender is a prime example of what we're going to be learning today." Heading straight into the start of the lecture she moved over to the chalk boards that were hung along the left wall of her room.
"Most of the herbs and the flowers that normals grow, they grow because they think they either; smell nice; or taste good. Not much thought it put into the practical uses of the plants. For example, Nepeta cataria.." Waving her wand at a piece of chalk, the chalk raised into the air and scrawled the words onto the board, drawing underneath it a picture of the normally greyish leaves, and the white-purple blossoms - although the colour of the plant wasn't dectable with the white chalk. "This is the true catmint -not nepeta mussinii, which is often referred to as Catmint- and a wild mint. The plant has greyish leaves which are woolly underneath, and white-purple flowers in summer. Cats adore the plant for some reason, rolling in it and even eating it. It is found in the wild hedgerows and wastelands. Most normals can't see past the fact that their beloved four legged friends love to eat this to see the fact that when steeped in tea it can induce sleep. It is also good for nausea and can reduce fever when ingested."
Giving the class a moment to take down notes, she busied the chalk writing another word on the board and drawing another specimen. The students soon found the words 'Althea Rosea' scripted on the board, above a picture of a plant with pods shaped like wheels of cheese.
"This, class, is the Hollyhock, does anyone know what magical properties the Hollyhock has?" Looking around the room, Zere couldn't help but purse her lips, "No one?" She prompted before shaking her head at the class. "The leaves and flowers of the Hollyhock can be used to prepare a lotion for dry, itchy skin and sunburn. It can also be used to aid digestion. The plant itself is useful in treating chest ailments, and the root contains vitamin A, calcium, zinc, iron, sodium, iodine and B-complex vitamins. Hollyhock can also soothe inflammation and relieve dryness and irritation in the chest."
The words came easily to Zere, this was what she studied all her life to do, but she couldn't hide the dissapointment that the class didn't do their reading especially since they were supposed to have done it to prepare for the day's lesson.
"Since you don't seem to have read the homework I assigned to prep you for this lesson, your homework today.." Zere felt her temper twitching as a groan came from the students situated infront of her, "CLASS." She reminded them who was infact the teacher in this room, and nodded as they settled down at her sharp tone. "As I was saying. Your homework for today is to read the pages I assigned yesterday, write a paragraph summarizing the readings, AND write a paragraph about a plant, flower, or herb that we -didn't- mention today, describe how it is used in normal society and it's magical properties. Class Dismissed."
The words were music to the student's ears, about class being dismissed, anyways. Zere made her way back around her desk to settle down into her chair once again, picking up one of the left over cookies and nibbling on it thoughtfully as her classroom quickly emptied out. Chalk board erasers seemed to find a life of their own as she snapped her fingers and looked back down to the open books on her desk.
Sample lesson Plan
Like in the above rp lecture, the lesson plan was about plants and how they are used in normal society. although it focused alot more about their magical properties. In this lesson, students were given a chance to voice things they knew about the subject as well as Professor Zere going over Hollyhock and Catmint as examples for their homework assignments. By the end of the class, students should have been able to identify the plants, not only by there formal latin names, but by their appearance, and should have an idea to their magical and medicinal uses.
Sample assignments
Things like, "Read this and summarize the readings in a short paragraph" or Review the notes you took over the course of the class and write a short essay on a related topic. For example; The Paragraph about a plant, flower, or herb that Zere's class didn't mention today, describing how it was used in normal society and it's magical properties. For assignments where students have to summarize readings, I will provide and internet site for them to read.

This is just an OC of mine, so some of the info might not line up exactly. But just say something and I'll fix it. Word kinda messed some of my punctuaction in the history part too I think O_oProfile Name: Vincent De Valoniis Nicknames: Vince, Vin, Vinny (<- annoys the hell outta him ;-; ) Age: 24 Birthday: January 23rd Race: Human, Italian-French Origin: Milan, Italy General Appearance: Bust
Personality: Vincent is practical, systematic, and methodical through and through. He has good qualities of leadership and organizational skills, shrewdness, and analytical ability. Mathematically adept as well, he has great patience with work of a detailed nature such as bookkeeping, accounting, or technical research. Particular about his material possessions, Vincent keeps everything he owns in a good state of repair, and he budgets his personal finances very carefully. But because of his matter-of-fact influence, he isn't very flexible and spontaneous. He tends to treat new and unfamiliar ideas with skepticism, usually a mask of his real feelings, hesitation and timidity. Because of these serious, responsible qualities, he has trouble recognizing the importance of a sense of humor and optimistic perspective of life. Some would not peg him as a Diviner merely for these more noticeable habits.
Special Abilities: Divination; he only works superficially with it, but most of his predictions have come true at some point in time. Vincent is cynical in his endowment, however, and usually fails to see the reality of it all. Tarot cards, pendulums, and runes are among his favorite implements and usually reveal clearer forecasts. He has been known to tamper with a crystal ball, but the idea is so stereotypical that he rarely bothers. While at school, he used the benefits to earn extra money off other students by telling their fortunes. Besides that, it is difficult to understand why, with his character, he dabbles in the art at all. Vincent also has the habit of unconsciously recognizing and making note of every kind of omen, good or bad, which crosses his path. He is only just now begining to truely believe the idea that magic exists in the world and in his own abilities.
History: Vincent is the second of three children. His older sister is 23, and younger brother 16. They are all loving, but it is apparent by his sibling?s features and traits that he isn?t linked as close by natural parents. In truth Vincent is only half-brother to each. He is the result of an affair brought on by his Father?s lewdness. He had been captivated by a woman with whom he worked with, and began leading a double life for many years. It wasn?t until his cohort approached the family after an argument that the truth was out. The woman was already at least a month pregnant before confronting Taddeo, Vincent?s father. He became upset and started to ignore her calls, avoid her at work, and shut her out completely, refusing to accept the dilemma. When the reality of the situation was finally exposed, Vincent?s stepmother, Caprice, was very lenient and understanding. Even though her husband rejected any idea of assistance, she soon became good friends with the other woman and helped with the pregnancy, as opposed to a lawsuit of some kind. Sadly, Vincent?s biological mother died shortly after giving birth. It wasn?t until he was a little over 15 when his stepmother had explained it, but the revelation came as no surprise. It was common knowledge, unlike Vincent?s beginning, that somewhat similar circumstances had ruined his father?s earlier marriage, with a less than lasting effect. Dante, his younger brother, was the only positive outcome of the relationship, but not in the same light as Vincent. Besides that, he was always fairly resented by Taddeo. It was clear now why he was constantly nit picking and over critical. Discipline and education only made it worse over the years. Edification was very important to the family, so much that each individual typically spent years at college, and had high expectations. It was evident in their affluent lifestyle. Vincent did more than surpass these prospects, but it was persistently met with criticism and disapproval. In retaliation he would often skip ?lessons,? as his father had named it, and neglect his studies. It made no difference his final grades, but it irked the family. Save for his stepmother and siblings, it was exceedingly difficult to get along with any other family member. It continued like this for many more years, until Sienna married. Her choice wasn?t what the family had expected, and they were more or less disappointed in her choosing. Sienna had regularly been what most would call ?the favorite? child. Vincent thought it simply because she was the only who was related to each parent by blood. Dante was from Taddeo?s previous marriage, but treated well enough. Ambrosi was his name, and he had told Vincent of a well-known privet school he had be enrolled in once that was looking for more applicants. The school was almost halfway around the world. Vincent eventually talked Caprice into letting his go, but left at the disapproval of his father. Taddeo reacted later by cutting off whatever short amount of cash he had been sending, forcing Vincent to take two jobs to keep a steady income. Secretly, however, Caprice has been sending his extra money, although little, to live off. For now he has taken the liberty of taking a break from school for a long while. Recently, he came across a special school he rather liked. While he had become very skillful in the craft on his own time, he was pleased to find the said school was taking applications for instructors. Vincet, adpet in Divination, settled in the area in a comfortable home and began putting together his application.
Lecture in Roleplay Form "Alright now," Vincent began, "Everyone take out your homework from yesterday. Most of you finished it in class, I belivee, so I'm not going to take any excuses this time if its not done." He nudged a pair of burnished glasses along his nose, and glanced over a few sheets of the students work. There was one for every student in the class, most filling the entire front and backside on the parchment. Setting the slips onto the desk, a satisfied grin curved along his mein. So they were paying attention after all.
Before starting the lecture, he took his glasses, and placed them along the student's assignments, folding them carefully so his fingerprints would not smudge the lenses. He could see well enough, but a few months of non-stop reading had made him hyperopic, or the more common term, farsighted. "So, let's get started. Somebody give me an example from their homework." A hand near the front shot into the air quickly. He nodded. "I used Friday the 13th as my example, and why its supposed to be bad luck."
"Thats a very good example. It's not exactly an omen, but its fits with the rest. What did you find?"
The girl cough softly to clear her throat, then continued, "On a Friday the 13th in 1306, King Philip of France arrested the Knights Templar and began torturing them. The people saw this as an particularly unlucky day."
"That is one of the more famous tellings, but there are a number of other reasons why that day is considered unlucky. But its all really just associations with the number 13 and the day Friday. Norse mythology tells us that twelve gods were having a dinner party at Valhalla, when a 13th uninvited guested arrive. Loki, the god of destruction and chaos. It ended in the death of a more popular god, Balder the Beautiful, the god of joy and gladness and the world mourned. A biblical reference also notes that Judas, the apostle who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th guest to the Last Supper. Theres also 13 steps leading up to the noose."
"A more mathmatical explanation can annotate for us about the number 13 though. Numerologists consider 12 a complete number. There are 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the zodiac, there are so many examples. Anyone else care to name a few?"
"12 gods of Olympus!"
"12 labors of Hercules."
"At least you know your mythology," he said with a laugh. "In exceeding that perfect number, 13 is considered being a little beyond completeness, and unlucky. But enough the number 13."
"There are more biblical accounts about Friday. It is it believed that when Eve tempted Adam with the apple, the great flood, the confusion at the Tower of Babel, and the death of Jesus Christ all took place on Friday." Another hand raised into the air suddenly, waving around enthusatically, obviuosly wanting to be seen. "Uh, yes?"
"My Mom told me that if you change your bed on a Friday you'll have bad dreams once. Does that have anything to do with it?"
"In a sense. That kind of superstition is a random taboo, but it could be related to the Friday the 13th influence. That should just about do it. I trust you were all taking notes?" A few began shuffling around in their seats, sorting through paper and reading over their sentences.
"There will be no presentaions today, so lets talk homework. This talk of Friday the 13th has given me a good idea. I want everybody to find five ways of how the fear of the number thirteen is demonstarted in everyday life."
The class groaned in unison, throwing back their heads in a sign of mock disappointement. "It won't be that hard. I'll even give you two." Forthwith, the children sat upright and listened hopefully, and those who had not been taking notes began searching quickly for something to write with and on. "This should be easy. You'll find tons just by looking around you. Many cities do not have a 13th street or a 13th avenue, including the one we're in. And airplanes have no 13th aisle."
"Oh!" a girl inturrepted, "Airports don't have a 13th gate!"
"Thats right too, and if you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck."
"Can you give us an example? That ones kinda hard." The same miss asked.
Vincent's brows furrowed in thought. His mine passed over quite a bit of information before he remembered a few. "Theres Jack the Ripper, Theodore Bundy, Charles Manson. If you know who they are its pretty self-explanatory."
They scribbled down the notes hastily, relieved to have four of the five they needed. "But since I gave you all of those but one, lets make it, seven, instead of five. Thats it for today though." Moaning again, the class gathered up their things, and began to exit the room, eager to find their friends to talk. "Oh, and don't forget to read the next chapter, we're starting mirror scrything tomorow." Sample Lesson Plan/Assignment Being the mathmatical person Vincent is, he has a mathmatical solution. His grades are weighed accordingly:
30% - Participation Divination requires alot of hands-on training, in which the students will be instructed in various methods. Group work is common, and this is a chance to gain experience with the technique. Credit will be given to those who share in the discovery of new or old means of Divination.
30% - Assignments In most cases, student work will consist mainly of research, for example, they are to make a list of common superstitions they know and figure out what first started the belief (like why some people think its bad luck if a black cat crosses your path). Sometimes students will have to do a certain technique at home as practive or in the classroom and record/analyze the results to turn in the next day. Notes that are turned in after a particular specialty is completeled are given as extra credit. Reading is a daily responsiblity.
40% - Tests Tests will analysis the students understanding of a style by either a written means or demonstration. Contact Information MSN/e-mail: darkified666@hotmail.com Preferred method of contact: PM ( I hardly ever check my e-mail xD; )

Name: Ellen Terry Appearance: Ellen has dark brown eyes and light brown curly hair that goes down to the bottom of her back. She has pale skin from often being inside and watching her potions. What she lacks in color of skin, hair, and eyes she makes up in clothes. You can often see her in bright red, turquoise, and other gaudy colored clothing. Her clothes are usually very loose, dresses and overlarge shirts with fitting cuffs and the same in pants. Age: She looks around 29, but appearances can be deceiving. No one truly knows how old she is, with the possibility of her brewing anti aging potions. Race: Human History: Ellen lived a normal human life up until the age of 14, when things started getting a bit weird. Odd occurrences seemed to follow her around and when some people suggested magic, her dad was skeptical. She ignored all the things happening to her because of her dad's skepticism, until the age of 18, when a teacher, most likely a magic user, suggested a woman who could tell her if she was truly a witch. When that was confirmed Ellen decided to delve farther into magic. Finding potions to be something she is interested in she studied herbs and potions, wanting to know good and natural herbs to make into potions. Wanting to share her knowledge she decided to become a teacher in Witchery.
Sample Lecture: Ellen brushed her hands against her pants, looking around the "in-laws quarters" that were nearby her house and she had recently renovated into a classroom. Ten small cauldrons sat on rock tables with nearby "Insta-Bunsen" spell directions. Small chairs were all around the room, she didn't like for students necessarily to sit at tables when she was talking, she couldn?t see them. Shelves with numerous jars and vials surrounded the room. Opening the door that led into the room she looked for students who were walking up, some slowly and in pairs, some quickly and in clumps, and some by themselves. Letting them all in, she beckoned for a particularly amorous couple to come quicker. They did grudgingly. Shutting the door behind the redheaded witch, Ellen closed the door and smiled at the crowd milling about. "Sit anywhere you want, as usual," she said, and made her way up to her desk. "Did you do the reading I assigned?" she said, looking at them closely. A few looked away, not making eye contact. "Not many at least," she thought ruefully. ?Could summarize it for those who 'forgot'?" A girl, completely in purple, raised her hand and Ellen nodded towards her. The girl cleared her throat, "Exorcism wards off evil spirits and dreams and the potion made for exorcising is to be dabbed on the person who wants the protection."
Ellen smiled at her. "Correct," she said, then added, "And potions are always strongest for the person who made them, though not by too much. So it?s best to make your own exorcising potion. Does anyone remember any of the ingredients for it?" When no one responded she shook her head. "Well, Seeing as no one knows there are quite a number of ingredients and you don't need them all, only as many as you can find, preferably all of them." Ellen started to tick off her fingers as she recited the ingredients she had memorized for years; it was one of the beginner's potions. Add too much or add too little it didn?t really affect the outcome of the potion. "There's Scotch Broom Reed, Rosemary, Asafetida, Angelica, Basil, Garlic, Sandalwood, annnd Saint Johnswort." She paused. "I hope you're taking notes on this we're about to make it." Most of the students scrambled for paper and looked off of the neighbors who had been taking notes and looked decidedly smug.
"Take the herbs and boil them in water, letting them simmer for a good 10 minutes, and then strain the herbs out. You then have an exorcising potion. Can anyone explain a few of the herbs and why we're using them?"
No one raised their hand. Ellen frowned; she wasn't going to answer all of the questions. Looking through the crowd of students she pointed at random at a boy with bright red hair who was nudging at another brown-haired boy. "You. Seeing as you've been paying so much attention," she said, furrowing her brows slightly. The rest of the class giggled at his discomfort.
He shrugged. "Well, Garlic's supposed to dispel negative things and evil, so that's a good thing for an exorcism potion. And Saint Johnswort, Basil, Angelica, and Asafetida do to, I'm sure of, and I'm pretty sure all the rest of them do the same."
Ellen smiled at him, "Exactly. Almost all of them do the exact same thing, that's why you don't really need all of them. Some of them are supposed to be burnt though before they're able to exorcise, and I've burnt those herbs already." Ellen started looking through the shelves of her room finding the herbs and set them up on the front of her desk. Taking a magical pitcher she filled all the cauldrons, the pitcher staying at it's same water level the whole time. Wiping her hands off on a towel she looked towards the group. "Please begin making the potion. If you fail to make it in class, you're homework will be to make it at home."
The students went into action hurriedly. Ellen smiled; it only took the threat of homework for them to actually work in class. Each of them stared at the cauldrons while they boiled, each with their own mannerism. Some swung their feet under the tables, some bit down on their tongue, and one long haired boy seemed to constantly be running his hand through his hair and looking over a girl who was busy making her own potion.
Once most of the potions were done Ellen looked at all of them, looking for the tell tale wisps of light blue that always came out of exorcising potions. Surprisingly enough, most of them had worked, only a few of them hadn't. Ellen stood at her desk while the students collected their things. "So you know your homework if you didn't get it done in class, but other than that your free to go." The students filed out quickly, and Ellen sat down with a sigh in her chair.
Lesson Plan: Usually she just explains a potion, explains the herbs in it, asking them questions about each, and then they make it in class or at home the same night.
Assignment: Explain the uses of a "Come to Me" Potion, the variations of it, and the herbs usually used it in, in over 100 words.
Weighting: 25% Class Participation: Classes usually consist of making potions, which is the class after all. 10% Essays: She doesn?t often assign essays, but when she does it often asks questions that are broad and if a student paid attention during class should be simple. "Why is it better to make potions in small quantities?" (Because i'?s stronger made in small quantities) Most essays need to be over 2 parchments. 40% Homework: Read a section and summarize, make a simple potion at home, collect herbs for the next potion to be made in class, etc. 25% Tests and Quizzes: After a unit on a type of potion and the many different ways to make it and variations of them, Ellen often has a test or quiz on the ingredients, why they're used, and overall what the type of potion does.

Profile Name: Ameko Cobbler - in reality, Ameko lacks a last name, and has adopted that of his guardian. Species: Kitsune Gender: Male (although sometimes it can be a bit sketchy to know for certain) Age: Unknown, although human appearances and general behavior pegs him somewhere in his twenties Birthdate: December 16 Birthplace: Touchstone Appearance(s): As a skilled kitsune, Ameko is not limited to merely one form. Rather, he can take any form he chooses - as long as the appropriate reagents are available, and he is able to keep his concentration. However, he prefers two in which to teach... any others will be made at his own discretion, and for the class's benefit. - Halfling (Partially Fox, Partially Human) This is, perhaps, Ameko's favorite form of all. In this, he stands roughly five feet tall, and weighs roughly one hundred pounds, although each are susceptible to small degrees of change (a pound here, an inch there). His body is mostly humanoid, and vulpine features, such as fur (white, with soft lavender markings, described in finer detail later), ears (tall and pointed), tails (three), paws, and a short, blunt muzzle. His markings seem to follow a general theme - they begin at a point (for instance, the tips of his ears and tails, as well as fingers) and flow outward in streaks. His face is also marked, with a gentle brush of lavender closely following the contour of his cheeks, looking rather like oddly colored tearstains and offering a startling contrast to golden vulpine eyes. However, he still retains some humanoid features, such as dextrous hands and a thick brush of violet hair. - Human This is Ameko's least favorite form; however, the nonmagical society in general is unwilling, at the moment, to accept halflings, and so it is this shape that he was most often forced to assume. He is, therefore, quite adept at shifting here, and does so quite beautifully, shedding fur without a trace (no messy clean-up), bones readjusting smoothly and fluidly, ears shrinking and rounding and repositioning... While human, Ameko is a touch taller than his halfling self - roughly five foot two, and a few extra pounds - and his clothes in both forms remain similar: overly large, rather unkempt, and closely following the spectrum between white and black, including all shades of grey between. His hair is, perhaps, a little smoother while human, although it is still violet; his eyes remain golden and his skin is extremely pale - not quite entirely white, admittedly, but very close. The tails are nowhere in sight. Personality: Ameko is terribly quiet and shy, given to allowing others to speak before he ever utters a word. Why, therefore, he was struck with the notion to apply as a teacher, he will never entirely decide... Perhaps it was a desire to share knowledge - for this, too, is one of his drives. As most kitsune will, he believes himself perhaps a little better than most others, thinking himself wiser and more in tune with the ways of the world - both good and wicked. This accounts for his demeanor, which is generally cynical, with a tendency to accept the worst. While lecturing, his voice remains soft, encouraging the students who are interested in what he has to say to quiet themselves - and the others are usually silenced with a sharp glare, serving as an immediate reminder that this teacher is not entirely human, and should not be treated as such. History: Ameko's past is neither very interesting nor involved, but despite this, he is seldom keen on sharing it. He was born as a fox just outside of a small town known to some as 'home' and to others as Touchstone - so named, of course, in the optimistic hopes that the word would influence the village's fortune. It did no such thing, and it remained nothing more than a small village, with no crossroads nearby to encourage traveling; the only occasional visitors were lost, or caravans. In this area, however, there was magic. And foxes are very keen on magic, of course - especially kitsune, which was nearly all of the foxes in this particular area. Ameko was born the quietest of four kits, and the soonest to leave the nest, and the soonest to be caught by a wandering magician as a particularly interesting pet: who, after all, had ever heard of a white fox with lavender stripes? Shortly after having a frightening nightmare involving darkness and glinting golden eyes, the magician wisely released the kitsune, who fled and took refuge with a young woman by the name of Jessica, who lived, at the time, with her sister. The rest of his life passed by demurely, with little consequence for his actions - he was allowed, for the most part, to do what he wanted, when he wanted, for both girls trusted his judgment... to a certain extent (it was only one mirror, and he still isn't sure why they are still upset about it). Eventually Jessica found love in a man named Owyln and moved out, taking Ameko with her and leaving her sister just next door. Once Jessica had funded tutelage for a magic-user, Ameko took immediate interest, thinking not unkindly of the magician who had been the first human ever met, and offered to move to Hawick in order to take better care of the arriving witch or wizard. Jessica agreed, and the story progressed to what is seen today. Lecture, in Story Format The morning had been rushed, hectic; the breakfast had been burnt; Sitara had been complaining of headaches and nausea, and had been running a fever of one hundred and two. It was no wonder that Ameko was late for his own class - one of the first sessions, to add insult to injury. As he hurried across the grassy knoll for the distant, crooked building in which he taught, he reasoned nervously to himself that even the best of teachers might be a little late, under such conditions. And it seemed that none of his students particularly minded; rather, most were enjoying themselves, scattered in small groups of two or three and animatedly discussing topics beyond his scope of interest. He gestured to them as he went, waving broadly above his head, and began fumbling with the key and lock, shoving hard against the door of the tiny classroom in order to get it to open. He allowed the class to slouch in over the span of five minutes, as he put up his coat and flattened ruffled fur and peeked in a mirror behind his desk, checking his appearance and straightening his hair. Once he was sure that most of his students had filed in and taken their seats, in the small poufs provided at short, squat tables, he turned and regarded them all with a warm, indulgent smile. "Hello, class. I know you're all rather distracted with the upcoming weekend, but let's try to concentrate, all right?" Someone laughed, although it was a quickly stifled, nervous bark of laughter. The lazy, thoughtful influence of the pending weekend was evident throughout the tiny room, with its students leaning elbows on tables and gazing off into an unseen horizon, eyes rather unfocused. Ameko frowned. This wasn't the way to teach a class, and this wasn't the way a proper class should look, so... Hello! A brief flash of light heralded a... change. Where there once stood a young man, entirely human, with an unkempt brush of violet hair, there was now a small fox. Its fur was white, with streaks of lavender throughout, mainly drawn against the grain of fur from points of extremities. A voice still spoke in all of their heads - echoing, perhaps, a little, but it was the voice of their teacher, and the classroom as a whole started and glanced up toward the little fox, who had leapt up onto the chair and then, with some difficulty, onto the desk. That's better, now that I've got your attention! Today I'll be lecturing on creatures notorious for their shapechanging abilities - some mythical, and others... not so much. A wicked grin curved the face of the fox, and a few witches in the front row giggled amongst themselves. First up! said the fox, pacing the length of his desk. The kitsune. An illustrious breed, with origins in two entirely different countries: India and Japan. In India, the kitsune was considered a tricksy demon; in Japan, it was much of the same opinion, although some kitsune were thought to be helpers of the rice-god, Inari. Kitsune were masters of illusion, as you can see... And the fox disappears, just like that, into nothing. Rather, in its place, seated cross-legged on the top of the desk, there was a young halfling, partially fox and partially human. He grinned cheekily at his group of students who were, by now, rather fixated. Only a few were taking notes, and upon noticing this, Ameko urged the rest to do the same. Only after the ensuing scuffle for parchment and quills had died down did he continue. "They were thought to be wicked seducers - at least, the evil ones were. Most of the breed were highly feminine -" and he primly chose to avoid another girlish titter from a small clique seated near the front of the class "- and often chose to masquerade as women. Most moral kitsune taught lessons - not of the sort that I am doing now. Rather, they taught on honor and loyalty, rather than making one something into an entirely different something." He grins again. "Would you rather I continue the lecture, or would you like a bit of hands-on work?" The general consensus of the class was in favor of the latter. With a grin, Ameko climbed down from his desk and produced a small bag of marbles. Setting one before each student, he said, "Change these into bells - or try to; the matchsticks into needles were too easy last class, I believe, this will be more challenging. Hopefully not impossible. And afterward," continued the kitsune as he proceeded back to the fore of the room, tucking away the velvet bag in his pocket, "please compose an essay, at least nine inches in length, on the lecture given to you just now, naming at least two other creatures whose talents focused on shapeshifting." A hand lifted and he moved toward it, chuckling. "Not two minutes and already you're having trouble, Sean? Here, let me see." Sample Lesson Plan Although Ameko is not particularly confident in his mathematical skills, a brief letter to Jessica and her immediate reply convinced Ameko that percentages are the only way in which to grade a class. But he has a very different idea of what makes for a good student... 40% - ParticipationAs far as Ameko is concerned, Transmographication involves a great deal of hands-on instruction - perhaps more than any other class, save for such pursuits as Herbology. Credit is given (and rather lavishly; chances are, your student won't have a difficult time making a decent grade in this class) for sincere interest in subject matter and effort spent, and of course style and end result - although this is to a slightly lesser degree. 40% - AssignmentsHomework in these courses consists mostly of research. Ameko does not often assign essays, although they are occasional small punishments, if the class has not been expressing sufficient interest or if there was a particular rowdiness to the day's lesson. Notes turned in after each completed section warrants extra credit, whose percentage is variable depending on the detail. 20% - Tests & QuizzesQuizzes are given fairly frequently, and often without warning. Entailed are a few simple questions pertaining to the present subject matter under study, and usually one small essay question. Tests are less often and similar, but lengthier, covering more areas of study and requiring more detail put into the essay. Ameko is kind to his students and gives sufficient warning for these.
