I have pet rabbits and I eventually realized that they were no different from the poor animals in slaughterhouses waiting for their deaths. I saw the way animals are really treated and I lost my appetite.

My older sister was a vegetarian for a while, what she said made sence, but she eventually went back to meat. I planned to from then on, but never got around to it. Eventually, I fell in love with a girl that I later found out was a vegetarian, so I figured if I ever planned to, then would be good.

I became a vegetarian after realising that I was being a hypocrite calling myself an animal lover while holding a hamburger in my hand. I didn't fully make the transition until I was 22 years old...but I'm so glad that I did.

Animeomega Raelis Shai I've been a vegiterian all my life, but from reading through this guild I've decided to become a vegan. I'm on my way. Wow. This guild inspires people! Neat! Good luck! Thanks! I've got to get rid of all my chocolate and 10 or so packs of egg noodles(my dad buys in bulk) and by which I mean eat.... But I've nearly finished the chocolate.... domokun Before reading through this guild I only had a vague fuzzy idea of what happened to the calves so we can get milk.... Must buy vegan shoes... or clean the ones my mother gave me... whatever's easier.... xd

LornaFlame I became a vegetarian after realising that I was being a hypocrite calling myself an animal lover while holding a hamburger in my hand. I didn't fully make the transition until I was 22 years old...but I'm so glad that I did. The exact same thing happened to me. I'd planned no being a vegetarian for a LOOOONG time, but one day I was at my friends house and her dad started going on about how he wanted to have rabbit for supper... Then her dad's girlfriend said "I'm not going to eat rabbit". That made me think..."What's the differance between a rabbit and a cow? They'rew both alive, adn both have feelings. About a week afterwards i told my mom and dad that I wasn't going to eat meat any more.

I was at the library in February of 2003, and I stumbled across Animal Factories bey Jim Mason and Peter Singer. I'd never met a vegetarian before, and only once even heard of vegans, but that book shocked me. Unfortunately, my family was not supportive, and the school lunches sucked. Then, that August when I went to camp, I met a girl who was a vegetarian, and I figured that if she did it, I could, so I went vegetarian the next month. I'm now working towards veganism, but that's a problem for my mom, who cooks everything in butter and thinks all vegans have an eating disorder. xp

I researched Veganism for a school project in grade 7, and it opened my eyes. I've been a Vegan ever since.
I got an A+ on that report... not that it's relevant.

I was also one of those 'I love animals' while holding a hamburger in my hand people too. Now they just get on my nerves.

Well, one day I read a book by Animal Liberation ... there was a chapter on how pigs are raised and "slaughtered." Yeah, needless to say I was rather horrified. It took me a while to become completely vegetarian, but I did it. =]
Veganism came as a natural step-up a year or so later, and I've never looked back for five years now. Yay.
I'm trying raw veganism now, which seems a natural progression for me again. 3nodding
