The outer Garden and grounds

Here you enter into a lush semi tropical garden.. the for part has a long manicured lawn, lots of flower beds decoratively placed and hundreds of paths through sculpted grounds.. but this doesn't last for long.

Just beyond the manicured garden is a large expanse of untouched tropical forest. This is where the wilds, the strange and the exotic blathanna blooms are found.

Many blathanna have been known to appear here, yet others have been known to bring a mate here when courting.
The young tend to chase the wildlife here but are forbidden from going into the forest for fear they will get lost.

Val walked into the Garden, his family following after him. Whisper, as usual, wasn't nearby, but Val was fine with that. He wasn't keen on introducing Whisper to his father -which was who he was hoping to find today - yet, as he hadn't really talked about his own heritage with him yet. And Marei's mates weren't here, as he was hoping to make this just a small gathering to introduce Fritz to his new descendants - and he wasn't sure how long the two would be staying with his child.

He sighed and settled down to watch Sigh and Blanka hop through the flowers in the garden, while Marei watched over its kits and sent periodic callings in the hope of attracting the impressive demon.

Chyou, bright-eyed and in a rather common, playful mood, stretched his back and waved his bushy tail to and fro. Jora, his guardian, eyed the autumn blath warily as he watched him prepare for what he was about to do. "You'd better not," he warned, glaring.

Chyou smirked. "You know I will," he said, as if it were a challenge he was accepting.

"Chyou, I'm warning you! DON--!" he growled, getting caught between two gold paws as he tried to flutter away. "CHYOU!!!" he yelled, trying to squirm free of his captor.

"Nyaaar!" the blath growled playfully, poking the guardian with his nose. His smile was wide and rather childish, but he didn't care. "Come on, Jora, you know you deserve it! You've been trying to embarrass me for weeks, and you're annoying on purpose! Don't try to deny it, I can tell!"

Jora stopped squirming long enough to gasp in mock shock. "Chyou, how could you say something like that? Me, your own guardian, trying to ruin your life? Never!" he stated matter-of-factly, trying to escape once more before Chyou could do anything further.

But he was too late. "Bah! You liar!" Chyou accused, biting at Jora's small wing lightly in a bluff. "I'mma EAT you for that!"

"Chyou!!!{/b]"

Raymond watched from a comfortable sprawl on the ground in the shade of a small tree, his own guardian Kelly sitting on the end of his left wing, as he usually did. "Heh, now there's an idea, Kelly."

Kelly rolled his eyes. "Aw come on, even I know 'ya would not do that to me of all people."

"Gah." Raymond flopped his head down onto his paws, curling his tail up along side his body as he watched Chyou and Jora play. "I wish there was more water around here, Kelly."

"Ahh, quit your whining. I know 'ya love the water but you smell like a wet dog for hours afterwards."

"Is there anything WRONG with smelling like a wet dog when I more or less AM a wet dog?"

"Just the aesthetic, Raymond. Wet dogs don't go over well, and you know it."

"But still, Kelly, it's better than sitting around here getting all dried up in the sun."

"You're in the shade you dolt."

Out of a dark patch of forrest Fritz watched.. The young one was calling him.. not to keen on being summoned though.. even by family, Fritz sulked for a bit in the shadows.. it was sunny, bright.. and horrible weather.. Ugh.

Wearing a look of disgust he finally sauntered out of the shadows to his waiting son and grandson...

Val waited for quite some time, nearly drifting off in the warm sun. He'd nearly forgotten his children and grandchildren playing around him. Well, at least Sigh and Blanka were playing. It had struck him as odd that only of his daughters had fully grown, while Blanka had stayed small and cute for so long... It was almost as if she had known that there were things she should learn while she was still little, though Val wouldn't know what they were.

His sleepy thoughts were shaken as Marei "cried" out that their "prey" had been sighted and then ran out to greet its grandfather with a swirl of very dark-tinted rainbow colors. Val shook his head and rose, stretching a bit before heading off, making sure everyone was following. "Father! It's been some time... As always, met with a surprise. I hope you're in the mood for it?"

Fritz squinted at the sky but looked back at his half demonic son and grand-son. " Not the best of weather, not quite like our first meeting. But the call sounded urgent, I'll have to teach little Marei how to call me.." he said patting his grandson on teh back a bit and sending a teleckenetic wink his way "I tend to detest summons. Grates on my demonic nerves." he shifted " Is it possible to get you both to come to the shadows to tell me what you wished me to come here for? This sun is far to bright." he hunched his shoulders a bit then noticed four other blath near them.. three young adults and a near teen youth. His green eyes fixed on them for a dark moment then he looked back at his son and eyebrow raised.
"uh.. who are they?"

Marei would have purred if it had been able. Instead, it settled for sending a single red blossom to its grandfather, pleased at the thought of learning how to communicate with the distant demon. It was the first to dart to the shadows as requested by Fritz.

Val nodded at his father's suggestion, though he vaguely noted that Marei was not so little any more. Unless compared to Fritz... ah. "I'm sorry. We didn't know how else to get you to come... It is urgent, yes." Val turned his head briefly as Fritz noticed the new blath, then turned back. "They are important, I assure you. Perhaps we should retreat into the shadows so you can look at them better before we talk about it?" Val was already moving as he spoke, leading the four others into the shade. Blanka, knowing she was very important that day, walked beside her father.

Slightly curious now but releved to return to the darker shadows Fritz strode back to the darker shade. Once there he streched his large wings once, the claws on the joins rakeing the air. " Ahhhhh, Much better"

A small sprite poped out from a dark hole in the trees and zoomed over to Fritz, Fiz wasn't happy to be left behind.

Once everyone was settled the big demonic blath looked his son in the eyes again, in the shade, his green ones almost glowed " Alright, we are all here and settled, so.. what is all this about?" His voice boomed a bit louder now he was back in his eliment.

Val looked up his father, a bit concerned as to how Fritz would take the news of his now further extended family. While certain that the demon wouldn't reject them, he was a bit worried about Blanka. There was always the chance that his father wouldn't want her...

He shook these thoughts as Blanka took her cue and padded over to the demon to sit at his rather large feet. Certainly this was a good thing to do. "Well... I suppose first I should introduce our... companions. The lovely girl at your feet is named Blanka. The other girl behind me is Sigh. As you can see, they are both unique, as Marei is. They are my daughters, though Blanka has not grown as her sister has. The two males behind me are Jalen and Phario. Jalen is the gray, and Phario is the red. They are... Marei's pups." Val nodded toward each in turn.

"As for the reason for this visit... I wanted to introduce them to you. More importantly..." Here, Val paused, unsure as to how he wanted to phrase his request. "More importantly, I wanted to ask... If you felt bad about not raising me, or even seeing me until after I had found a mate and was raising my own family."

Fritz was stony faced for a bit, He looked down at the stark white teen, a stark contrast to his near black fur, then glanced at the three other youths.. all his blood, he could smell it now.. faint but it was there. How very odd.

Things were sinking in slowly, a curiously perplexed look crept across the demons face "Sooo I'm a Grandfather now.." he shook his head. Some small laughter echoed from behind his wings and he glared at his sprite.

While one thing was comprehended another struck him, the question from Val, His son.. Had he felt bad about not raising him? uh.. demons were always bad.. feeling bad was natural.. but he did feel something.. regret, the missed chance to pass on some of his demonic heritage.. maybe it was hard to tell in the old demons head.

" Well..." he said eyeing the white youth before him.. were her eyes red? Nice demonic trait.. yes... " Val I've had to absorb this whole family thing slowly, not many demons have kids.. in fact very very few. Were not sure how to er.. to be parents let alone grandparents and such. But teaching youths to be there most demonic is one thing we know and losing the chance to teach you your inner demon, that's one thing I do wish I could have done. I think you would have done me proud, Son."

A serious look of confusion crossed his face "There's so many in my direct blood line now, I don't know how I'll keep up." He chuckled then and the ground seamed to rumble with his laugh. "But I don't understand.. I believe last time we met I expressed the same regret, that's about the best you will get out of me. Demons rarely feel many emotions, usually even regret is lost, helps to be numb when doing unpleasant things.. we are demons after all. So Why basically ask me that again?"

He looked at Val.. sensing something more to this.. the white one was sitting awfully close.. if she was not family he wouldn't have allowed it.

Val's ears twitched. He did not remember his father expressing regret... "I remember you being surprised at meeting me... There is a point to this, though - my asking you." There, the half-blooded Blath paused to collect himself while his head turned to gaze at his small daughter.

He wondered if he would have felt as strange as he did now if he had been raised by his father. Surely, he would not have given Whisper a glance, and none of his children would have come to be... As it were, it was hard enough for him to express his desire to leave Blanka with someone else.

"Great-grandfather. You are a great-grandfather now. But that's not important, I suppose. I'm not here to tell you that, really... You are a parent, though... And sometimes, I regret not having been near you, raised by you."

Again, there was a pause. Val was sure the demon before him had not had near so much trouble... giving him up, in a sense. "Did you have much choice in not raising me? I'm under the impression that you didn't... And I'm not sure if you would feel the same, but I feel that every parent deserves the chance to raise their children. You may not be able to teach me, but I know that all of my children are very special."

Looking away from his daughter, who happened to be a bit annoyed with him for taking so long, Val gazed seriously at the larger demon, his father. "I think that you could raise Blanka, if you wanted to. It's what I offer to you now - to take her and raise her as you would have raised me."

He continued to gaze at his father now, silent as he anxiously waited for an answer. The others settled down to watch as well, except for Blanka. She stretched and moved closer to the demon, shifting to half lay on one of his paws, then lifted her head to look up at him.

The look on Fritz face as his son finished his explanation and offer was a mix of disbelief, demonic glee, and confusion. The thought of taking a quarter blood demon and training/raising her in her hereditary ways was a gleeful thought. The fact his son wanted this and offered it to him confused him. A nubial impressionable youth to grow and twist to his ways! Did his son know what that mentioned?! Probably not.

He grinned and curled the other paw around his young grand daughter "Blanka, so you wish this? If you do I will happily take you with me but I need a small sacrifice from you. A drop of blood to bind you to me. Then you can come to my domain. Are you willing?"

No, Val didn't really know what would come of his father raising the little kit. But this was his father, and Blanka his daughter. This was family. And Blanka's heritage. No matter that it was his as well - Val had never gotten the chance to come into it. Blanka had a right to be raised in it, and Fritz had the right to take her. He was glad to hear it was possible for Blanka, and that his father was happy to take her. Not quite so happy about the needing blood part, but... he'd said it was only a drop right? Maybe it was a demon thing...

Blanka didn't look quite so sure about it, either. She was, after all, still a kit. And while she had yet to be afraid of her grandfather, she wasn't quite so thrilled about the thought of bleeding. Bleeding usually meant pain! But she was a brave one. And bold. Daring. Determined. Maybe a little reckless. Certainly full of pride! She puffed herself up to look as proud and brave as she could, and finally being spoken to, said the first thing she had all day. "I can do it! I'm not scared!"
