Though many of you probably haven't played it yet, this thread is dedicated to the original Playstation Guilty Gear game. Talk about anything related to the genesis of the series here

Lol, apparantly not. If there was some kind of emulator for it, I'd play it. xd

I heard you can whore the IK over and over again without penalty...is this true? gonk

Indeed it is, although if you fail it leaves you open to attack

That's not as bad as losing you tension bar completely. Survive the attack then do the destroy move again? confused

Thing is, you can escape instant kills, so if your opponent's skilled, you probably won't be able to pull it off

True, but the instant kills were still WAY over powered in the first one, and only able to use justice, testament, and baiken in vs. or practice was crap....

We can all agree it's not as good as X2. It was still fun to play, though. You just shouldn't use it in a serious tournament

Many of the people over at my arcade played GGXX because they remembered the original game which had unlimited "Destroy" potential. They thought they could play the game like the original. Oh so many people walked away when they couldn't.

I hope it gets a bigger following here. I'm not practicing day in and day out to fight against the CPU.

You feel the same way, huh? Say, Art, if you don't mind me asking...are you a little green with the GG series? I know you're a seasoned veteran at Street Fighter and (I believe) King of Fighters, but you seem a little less certain about GG. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just wondering

Indeed. I'm not going to hide it. Although I've been interested in the game for quite some time now, I've never had the chance to play it on even a semi-competitive level. I remember playing GGXX on my friends PS2 but he wasn't really extremely good at playing 2D fighters to begin with. (He has played tourney level Tekken, though.)

I lost interest when even my lowly scrub skills could dominate in that game so I dropped playing it for a very long time. Then it finally popped up in my arcade and this is the only time I actually got a chance to seriously play it.

Sadly, even at the arcade, there are very few people who play it at a high level. I'd even go so far as to say that there are NONE who play it at a decent level. So if I happen to be a little green in some aspects (Gameplay wise especially), that's something I'm not going to apologize for.

That's no problem, man. You really don't have a console? You seemed pretty knowledgeable about the other fighters. You played ALL those in the arcade?

I really don't have anything past the PSX. Every single game I've played was practiced in the arcades with my money on the line everytime I play. Unfortunately, this means my practice time for most games are limited and my level of growth is severely stunted if I lack fundage.

I still plan on making myself known at my arcade with this game though. A little thing such as a third world economy isn't going to stop me.

I'm trying to get it from some kid I know from the arcade... I feel so sad I never played it...
