I can't stop watching the Super Smash Bros. Brawl promo. When they introduce snake, it's just awesome. And Metaknight for the frigging WIN.
Plus the super moves will make it interesting. Kinda like a cooler version of the legendary Pokemon.

Plus, FFXIII and FFXIII vs both look interesting.

FFIII is coming to the DS

So many hopes for the next gen systems. Who'll you go with?

I know, I keep watching that trailer over and over.

Thank you for putting in Pit! They really need a new Kid Icarus game. And it is legendary when you hear the codec ring. And I'm excited to see how all the new characters play.

FFXIII looks good, and apprently there are multiple versions planned, according to rumor.

I'm glad they're finally porting FFIII. I need to start collecting all the gameboy ported FFs.

Personally, I'd like to see the Wii do well. Mostly because it's in my price range, and I want to make use of the download system. With the backwards compatibility, on top of having downloadable games from the 8 and 16 bit eras, it'll be interesting to revisit a lot of classics. And hopefully they'll make use of an online service this time around, which would really help.

The PS3 looks nice, but is far too expensive for me to consider in any kind of respect. They'll have a lot of the standard series, and I like that. The downside being I only know of one person who is thinking of getting it, and I'm not sure how popular Blu-Ray as a format is going to be compared to HD-DVD. I mean, if it takes off then $600 would be worth it to play those discs, but if it flops then you have a $600 betamax in that respect. Plus I get the feeling we'll be seeing less games like Ico and Res and more "Splinter Cell: Why hasn't this ended yet?" and "Xenosaga XXIV: Why didn't we just make Xenogears 2?" I'm worried the games will become too standardized.

Xbox 360 has Live play, which is nice. I use it every time I go over to my friend's house, but it doesn't feel like they have much in the way of variety. They're doing better than they did with the Xbox, by far, but most of the games seem to be american publishers. Nothing wrong with that, but there isn't a huge US gaming development other than EA and PC based gaming companies. If they don't get some companies to actually make console games for them, I don't see the point in buying it. I can play Oblivion and Call of Duty and Battlefield on my computer, why should I get a 360?

All in all, damn Smash Bros. looks good. I'm excited for the new things, and I hope that we don't get the same games for the next 5 years.

I'm all for the Wii; the controller sounds spiffy, I hear rumors of getting some of those Sega Genesis and/or Saturn games as download options, and I've always been a nintendork.

If you've got digital cable, you can view some G4 stuff on E3, and it shows the Wii controller at work, and it does look interesting (albiet a bit overly dramatic in the commercials). But one thing did strike me as funny when my little brother saw them swinging the controller as if they were playing tennis: "If they're gonna do that much work on a video game, why the hell don't they just go outside."

He's got a point. neutral

I don't care how many hours you must wait.

Find and download the Smash Bros. video.

It IS that cool.

Snake and his box, hah!

And howcome Metaknight gets no love? Why's everyone fawning over the obscure NES character and the fanservice Samus? Samus without her "Pop gun" just seems wrong to me, and Pit...well if he's anything like Ice Climbers, he more gimmick than fighter. Bear with me, I know everyone's gonna defend Pit and Ice Climbers, but really, was he actually THAT cool or is it just because he hasn't been seen since NES?

Metaknight FTW. 3nodding

Now all we need is Sonic, Bomberman, and Megaman, to name a few off the top of my head.

Thing is, Setz, if I try to download it, my connection will lapse and it'll NEVER finish.

That, and like I said, without sound, it's not worth watching commericials. ><

I've heard that the console is going to be online all the time, whther it's turned on or if it's off. Don't quite get the purpose of it being online while not powered on, but oh well.

All in all, I'm looking forward to Wii much more than PS3, and I've never even played an Xbox game. <<;

It IS that cool.

That aside, I hear more people excited for Metaknight than Pit. I just like Pit because Kid Icarus was one of my favorite games as a kid. I rather like the thought of him using both a blade and a bow, and I assume he'll fight a lot like Link but with a triple jump.

I'm actually really excited for all the new characters. Metaknight will probably replace Roy/Marth for a lot of people. He has some great looking combos.

I assume fanservice Samus will be more of an up close fighter instead of a range fighter, and play something like Peach with the lightsaber. I just think it's an interesting addition, like Pichu is to Pikachu. They play differently, but they are kind of two sides of the same character.

I, however, will not defend the Ice Climbers. I've seen them used well, but that doesn't mean I'll like them any more.

Sonic would be wonderful, but I'd like to see Knuckles. His glide would be more useful, and I assume he'd have high power and an awesome throw.

Bomberman I'd love to see, I wonder if Hudson is still making games for Nintendo? It would be great to see Smash Bros. turn into a giant tournament fighter like that.

Megaman, ahh, Megaman would be awesome. I'd really like to see Protoman and Bass be around as well (Or Zero, but ******** Axl). The downside I think is that Capcom would never do it, simply because they already do so many fighting games.

@Fatal: Yeah, I've heard that as well. But I mean making the online service actually worthwhile. Technically the Gamecube has online capabilities, but you never hear about it. It's because it's only useful for two games.

But if they had, say, more online games, a buddy list, etc. available (Like the Xbox does, and PS3 supposedly will) and downloadable demos and promo items for their upcoming games, it would be really cool.

But so far I haven't heard anything to suggest they're going to go that way.

Edit: Also, someone called my sig girl pudgy. I couldn't believe it. She is aerodynamically curvaceous.

The Wii in general looks really awesome. >> I would pay more then the PS3 for it but I'm insane. XD Wario ware looks awesome for it and yeah Brawl... I want that pretty bad. D: Like now. >>;; I am still playing SSB: Melee with my friends and stuff and now we're all down in the dumps because we want the new characters so bad. XDD

I'm not too happy about Snake being in there though. >>; He's not nintendo.. it throws off the SSB way of being! D:

See, I think Snake is cool. As does everyone else.

I may argue that he is too serious to belong in SSB, because, well, he does. I do NOT want to see any real fighter characters in there (Much love to Akuma and Sub Zero, but back off) because that ruins the playful feel of the game.
However, I'm totally open to out of Nintendo characters, as they were stretching their limits with Melee (Roy, Marth, Game and Watch, Ice Climbers, and 2 more pokemon), and it expands it.
So as much as I'm neutral on Snake (although in the demo movie I get chills at his entrance, I'm a geek, I know)

The out of Nintendo market opens up a lot more characters, so that Nintendo doesn't have to start getting lame. A few old school, sure. But I'd much rather see Pac Man vs Mario vs Sonic vs Pikachu than anything else.
PostPosted: Sat May 13, 2006 6:46 pm

I can't imagine any other game having Jigglypuff as a serious fighter, and I like it that way.

Nintendo does actually have a lot of characters they could go with, but I'd really like to see them use more outside characters.

Snake is cool, I'm glad he's there. Snake is just playful enough to belong in SSBB, but I wouldn't want it to be a trend. I'd rather have characters along the line of Sonic and Bomberman that lend to the style.

Ah, yeah, I see what you meant. The Gamecube has online abilities? This is the first time I've heard anything about it. Out of curiosity, what are the two games?

It would definitely be awesome for that to happen, especially since they're re-realeasing all of those old games. It could be a blast to play those games with so may different people instead of just your childhood friends.

Pudgy? Her curves are just softer than those stick girls you see everywhere. :<
