5/10/06 Keiji is yet a newborn still and thus spends most of his time sleeping. However, when he wakes, he either craves attention or food. Both seem to be his main entertainment at the moment. His interests will all change as he grows older, however. These are his thoughts and experiences in life thus far.

Keiji, the ball of feathers and fuzz that he is, laid curled up in a ball on lush green grass. The blades of the grass almost taller than him. One might even accidentally trip over the small youngin, seeing as how he practically looked like a dirt mound with his dark brown fur. The brown fur he possessed would soon become a great asset, if it wasn't already. He stirred slightly, unable to see or hear, he wasn't sure where he might be laying or what was prickling through his coat. He let out a medium ptiched chirp.
And who to come strolling by then a conceited, (though after recent events, a less-inflated ego) headstrong Gryph? Lirit hummed a tuneless song to himself, trotting along the patch of soft grass- fairly carefree, for once. It wasn't long, though, before the child nearly lost his balance, sidestepping with agrivation to avoid a collision with what looked to him to be a fuzzy brown rock in the middle of the ground.
Grunting harshly, the Hippogryph let out a fleeting cry as his forepaws crossed each other and he fell onto the ground just beside the chick with a dull thud. Quickly scrambling back to his feet in an effort to regain his composure, Lirit's soft blue eyes danced around the field quickly to ensure that nobody had seen that.
Nobody had seen it. Good. Right. Right? Nobody had been watching.
"Watch where you're laying next time, pal!" he shouted bitterly at the lump of brown that just lay there. Gulping slightly, hoping that whatever he'd tripped on was actually alive, Lirit nudged it gently with his snout, poking at it carefully. "Hullo?"
Keiji felt the vibration of something falling near him, which alarmed him. He didn't know what was going on and feared that he may become food for something. His distressed showed through his voice as he let out a, now high pitched, chirp. The call decreased in alarm slightly as it recieved a soft nudge to its side, but he was still unsure. He stirred a bit again and tried to get his small legs to move away from the spot.
What was next to him? Was it his mother? Father? A sibling? Among those questions racing through his mind the loudest of his thoughts was: "Don't eat me!"
A very small pang of familiarity coursed through Lirit's mind, and before he knew it, he was groaning lightly to himself.
Settling his wings calmly, folding them on his back, the Hippogryph sat down just beside the chick, watching him steadily. Yep. He was right.
A short while ago, he'd encountered a very similar creature. Just about the same size, shape, and... width? Anyway, the damn thing couldn't talk. Lirit wasn't even sure if the other creature had understood him when he himself spoke. Disappointment poked at Lirit's heart, and his face sagged, a bit crest fallen.
"Can you hear me, little thing?" he asked quietly, poking at the chick's neck with his nose gently, hoping that he hadn't scared the poor thing.
Well. This was a side of Lirit never seen before. Keiji felt the warmth from the other hippogryph and calmed a bit. He didn't think he was going to be eaten, if he was, he would have already been dead by now. He shifted his head towards the direction the poke to his neck came from.
Had they said something? He couldn't really hear at he moment. Life seemed rough, but this is how he came into the world. At least he know had someone warm next to him, even if he didn't know who or what it was. He chirpped again, this time just to show he was there, considering he couldn't really communicate with the other being.
Lirit grinned lightly. The original squeaks from the fluffy thing had sounded alarming and fearful- but now whatever this thing was seemed to have calmed considerably. Smiling almost with attachment to the fluffy thing, Lirit nuzzled it again, his tail wagging absent mindedly behind him.
This behavior was something that Lirit had never demonstrated before, ever. Generally he was headstrong, cocky, arrogant, and manipulative. He tried to intimdate others, (who were almost always oblivious to his efforts) and made a great effort to come off as scary and powerful. Now, though... Now it almost seemed as if he wanted this thing to feel safe beside him. It was entirely uncharacteristic.
Even after deciding that the fluffy thing couldn't hear him, Lirit chose to speak anyway. "Well, I'm Lirit. Maybe when you grow your ears you'll be able to hear me better. I'm older then you. Prolly smarter too, but that's okay. Your brain is tinier then mine, so it's expected." Smiling cheerfully, Lirit yawned calmly, scootching beside the baby happily.
Keiji's chirps seemed to turn into 'coos' as the small Hippograph snuggled up against Lirit. He had no idea what the other being was doing as he started to feel Lirit's body take in breath differently than before. Keiji didn't recognize this different breath intake to be that of Lirit speaking. However, Keiji didn't seem to mind or be alarmed by the sudden change. He was warm and that was all that seemed to matter at the time, warm and safe.
A thought suddenly popped into Lirit's mind. He was distracted from Keiji's happy crooning, and his brain mulled a thought over, entertaining it for several moments before he finally spoke. Well aware that Keiji couldn't understand him, Lirit was speaking rather for himself then for the chick.
"I have an idea," he mumbled happily, standing up just beside the baby, his paws flexing slightly beneath him. "I'm going to teach you how to walk." Lirit decided triumphantly. "That'll be fun." he insisted, as if trying to convince the deaf Hippogryph to be enthusiastic.
But how to go about it? Contorting his face into what he considered to be a 'thinking' mode, Lirit brought his muzzle down to the side of the chick, and he nudged it gently- not just nudging to the side, but also upwards, as if trying to get the baby to stand. "Don't worry if you can't do it. You might be too little," he explained optimistically- something else he generally didn't do.
Keiji suddenly felt Lirit's muzzle nudging the side of him. He was, again, unsure of what was going on. It seemed, to him, that the being beside him had finally decided to kill him. He let out a distressed chirp again. However, his destress subsided once more as he felt the familiar feeling of the hippogryph speaking. He didn't recognize it as speaking, but it was now a familiar feeling to him.
His body was scooted to the side as his legs stretched up a little. He was still not sure what to make of the situation, but at least he wasn't being devoured. His legs stayed up for a bit and he stumbled forward as they gave out from under him.
What was that sensation? Was the thought in his head. The grass that had been surrounding him flattened when he did, but he had felt the blades of grass under his paws. He vaguely remembered the feeling before, but couldn't place it in his mind. He remained on the grass for now, resting.
Lirit was so pleased with the fact that the baby had gotten up- even if just slightly, that he almost didn't recognize the distressed chirp. Almost. Frowning diligently, Lirit shook his head back and forth quickly, as if to convince the chick that he wasn't a threat. "No, no no-" he began softly, hoping that he had been sucessful at making his voice soothing. He wasn't used to speaking like this. "I'm not gonna hurt you, fluffy thing," he insisted quietly, his voice gradually becoming familiar with this new tone of talking. "Wanna try again?" he asked the deaf Gryph, smiling eagerly as he stepped foward to nudge the chick upwards once more, hoping the baby would recognize the familiar movement and not be alarmed this time around.
Keiji did recognize the feeling of the hippogryph's muzzle this time and wasn't alarmed. He tried again. His little legs lifted slightly again and stood for a few moments longer than before, before giving out once more. The excersise was exhausting. His little body not used to it at all and neither was his legs. He let out a small huff as he rested against the long prickly grass.
Lirit smiled cheerfully- the little thing was doing it! He nearly let out a yip of excitement, but that would've been pushing it just a bit too far. Simply grinning excitedly was far more then enough to express his enthusiasm for knowing that the little guy could do it.
"Good job!" he praised with a smile, the tone of his voice gentle once again. "That was really, really good, fluffy!" well, it was fluffy. Besides, what else was Lirit supposed to call it? He didn't know it's name.
Noticing the small 'huff!' the the Gryph let out after his second attempt, Lirit decided that would be enough... For now, at least. He didn't want to fatigue the poor chick.
"You did really good, fluffy." he praised encouragingly once more before settling down beside the baby a second time. Crossing his forepaws over one another to create a comfortable place to rest his head, Lirit yawned mildly, looking up to the chick sideways. "Once you get bigger, I'll teach you how to fly..." he mumbled, half in a daze. Pfft. Lirit himself didn't even know how to fly yet.
Keiji softly smiled to himself as he felt the warmth of the hippogryph beside him once more. He wasn't sure if he became boring to it or if he dissipointed it by whatever it was attempting to make him do. Regardless, he was warm again and now could rest beside his new friend? At least that's how he now saw it. The being obviously didn't want to kill him, it would have already done it. So, Keiji thought, it must have been his mother or father beside him. He knew no better, but at least he understood that the one who had taken an interest in him must be like him. His little body nestled in Lirit's coat in comfort.
Mother? Father? Lirit would've been extremely insulted and terrified at the same time if he could read the baby's mind. However- this Gryph was no mind reader, and thus remained calm and dignified beside the chick, unaware of what it's little brain was processing to be the truth.
This was quite peaceful. Lirit, the naive little thing he was, was totally unaware that had the circumstances been any different, (say, another Gryph had been in the eara) that he would've never made this new friend.
Yes, he's a friend, Lirit decided with a smile as his eyelids fluttered closed, his body slowing down to a resting level. Even though he can't talk. I'll teach him, maybe. But first he's gotta... There was a large yawn. Open his eyes and grow bigger... And with that, Lirit gave one more glance up to the chick before letting his heavy eyelids fall down.
Keiji also felt sleep drifting closer to his shores. He had quite an eventful day, full of excersise and activity, and if he had been understanding the situation he was in correctly, a new friend. As it was, he figured that the hippogryph beside him was a friend and a relative. When he got older, perhaps he would realize this without needing a rude awakening, but for now, he had to sleep. Since his eyes were already closed, the only thing that was noticably different when he fell asleep was his breathing, which became more shallow and calm.

Keiji had been sleeping for a good few hours before he woke again. He let out a wide yawn and shook his coat slightly. As he became more awake, he remembered what had happened not too long ago. He had been cuddling against his mother or father, or so he thought that's who they were. He also remembered the excersise he recieved as well. He wanted to see if he could duplicate that sensation of standing that the hippogryph from before had tried to make him do. He attempted to force his small weak legs up, but could not. He let out another 'huff' and sniffed slightly. He suddenly noticed the fresh smell of the grass he was laying in and the dirt below him. He tried to mouth the grass, but only sucked on it. He let out a small chirp at the new taste in his mouth.
What was this? That familiar lump of brown seemed to startle the young Hippogryph, though upon further inspection, his shock seemed to melt into pleasent suprise. Trotting bouncily over to the fluffy blob he knew to be his friend, Lirit tossed his head into the air with an imperious sense of happiness, grinning lightly down at his baby friend.
"Have you grown at all, Fluff?" he chirped softly, hoping that he had sucessfully mastered the same voice he'd used during their precious encounter. Shadowing over the little ball of fluff with a serene, uncharacteristic smile, Lirit nuzzled the side of the Hippogryph happily, before speaking again. "Remember me?"
Keiji paused as he smelled something different in the air. He sniffed around, moving his head from side to side and finally turned his head most in the direction he smelled the familiar scent the best. He let out a loud pleased chip in response to the scent. His little legs then began to wiggle and move forward, crawling to Lirit. It was hard work, but he was determined. As soon as he got to Lirit, he chirpped happily again.
Hey! That was a new way of walking that Lirit'd never considered. Crawling, he thought, rolling his eyes at himself dramatically. How could I've not thought of that? Grinning happily at Keiji's enthusiasm to greet the familiar Gryph, Lirit took a step or so foward to make the baby's trip less exhausting. Besides. He wanted to practice standing up again!... Not just yet, though.
"Let's see," he began with a bit of playfulness in his voice, perking his head to the side as he stood just next to the chick. "Can you see anything yet?" he asked in vain, ignoring the fact that he knew Keiji couldn't fully hear him- nonetheless understand him yet.
Bringing his snout down to nuzzle the baby fondly, the child grinned happily. This wasn't so bad! Lirit was used to being (or trying to be, rather) intimidating and superior. Being nice once in a while was actually quite refreshing!
Keiji chirpped twice at the nuzzling from Lirit. He figured he had made the other hippogyph happy with his moving to get to them. However, he was still blind and deaf. However, Keiji somehow felt that would be his condition forever. He couldn't help but think that if the other Hippogyph could nuzzle him, then perhaps they had a way of knowing where he was more than he, himself could tell where they were. He rolled to one side a bit and let out another pleased chirp. He sure was more vocal this time, perhaps it was because he knew he wasn't in danger.
Aw, he's not so bad at all. Lirit thought with a grin, puffing out his chest just slightly. He couldn't help but feel proud of himself! After all, he'd made a friend with something that couldn't see, hear, or speak. That was something to be proud of, he figured.
A cheerful smile pulled at the corners of Lirit's muzzle, and he lolled his head slightly, perking it dramatically to the side to watch Keiji. "Aw, you wanna play!" he decided, not noticing as his fluffy tail began to wag absent mindedly behind him. "Alright. I know you can't hear me, but this's what we're gonna do," he explained with a heartfelt grin, before he collapsed beside Keiji, rolling onto his back to face the sky. "Me an' you are gonna close our eye-" Lirit paused sheepishly. "Well, you can't see anyway. I'm gonna close my eyes, and we're both gonna roll around all over the place till we crash into each other! I'll be careful with you, though. You're little." he said unecessarily.
Knowing that Keiji hadn't heard or understood any of that, Lirit decided that he'd just have to show the little Gryph what he meant. Tucking his hind legs close to his body, the creature began to roll in circles and half circles, occasionally bumping gently into Keiji. "You try!" he encouraged happily.
Keiji didn't quite understand what was going on as he felt Lirit fall to the ground. He then felt the hippogryph bump into him. What was he to do? He first crawled and then rolled to the side away from the playful Lirit. He stopped after that, however. He chirped, wondering where or what the other hippogyph was doing. I wish I understood things more. He thought to himself, feeling as though he was missing out on a lot.
Lirit was patient. He smiled happily, crawling over towards the unreactice chick, who probably didn't quite understand what was going on. Nodding his head, more to himself then to Keiji, Lirit spoke.
"S'alright. Maybe we'll play when you're a little older. It's kinda fun, I think." he explained to the air, before glancing down to the baby. "Wanna practice standing s'more?!" Lirit suddenly remember, clambering to his feet as he positioned himself beside Keiji, hoping that the newborn would recognize the familiar nudging.
Lowering his muzzle to the baby's side, he nuzzled him slightly, nudging him upward as he'd done at their last encounter.
Keiji recognized the nudging. He knew what to do this time, whether he could or not, however, as another thing. His legs extended slightly and he stumbled to the side. His body wobbled before he collasped on the grass as he had done the last time. He was more determined now, he wanted to do what this hippogryph was trying to get him to do. Perhaps if he did, he would understand things more, be able to do more. For now, he sat on the ground in the grass. He couldn't get his little legs to go up on their own yet. Letting forth his very best sympathetic voice, Lirit sat down beside the little one, nuzzling his cheek in an almost big-brother-protective fashion. "It's okay, Fluff." he nodded encouragingly, his ears twitching lightly as he spoke. "You knew exactly what to do this time!" he added with excitement, and the tone of his voice showed his great approval of Keiji's progress.
Thoughts began to swirl around busily in Lirit's mind. What else could he do to further encourage Keiji? Lirit supposed only time would help the baby gain confidence and skill to stand up- then maybe even play Lirit's rolling-crashing-game. For now, though, the child would have to be patient with his newborn friend.
Lirit nuzzled Keiji once more, before a silly idea popped into his head.
Mimicking the chirp that the baby had uttered upon his arrival, Lirit cleared his throat, before chirping happily, waiting for Keiji's respose anxiously.
Keiji chirpped happily at the nuzzle again, but there was a pause when Lirit chirped. Suddenly Keiji squirmed and rolled into Lirit slightly, letting out another chirp. At least the other hippogryph wasn't upset with him and he almost though that they made a chirp, yet his ears were still deaf to the noise. He let out two other chirps and wiggled across the ground some more.
Lirit smiled suddenly, raising an eyebrow. This might be fun! Speaking in jibberish chirps... And maybe it'll make him feel a little bit better about not being able to stand, Lirit decided thoughtfully before biting back a laugh as Keiji squirmed around wildly.
"Mm, brrrlp!" Lirit decided to be creative, spluttering out nonsense from his own muzzle, trilling chirps and peeps in hopes to entertain Keiji- even if the newborn could only barely hear him. Keiji rolled around still and chirpped some more. He eventually snuggled up against Lirit again and his chirps became more soft and almost as if they were a low mumble in this throat. He was still happy, he was just starting to feel his burst of energy starting to fade, as does happen with newborns. He sniffed the ground lightly before accidentally smacking his head gently into the side of Lirit. He let out a startled chirp.
Lirit was disappointed to see Keiji's energy begin to dwindle- though pleased at the same time to see the baby cuddle up against him. He'd never admit it again, but Lirit was quite content with the little chick all snuggled up next to him. He felt like a parent! NO, no, not a parent. A big brother... Family. He decided happily.
Just as his eyelids were fluttering lazily, he felt a gentle smack against his body. Stifling his laughter, and instead grinning broadly at Keiji's suprised yelp, Lirit nuzzled the cheek of the Gryph reassuringly. What a silly thing!
Keiji felt Lirit reassure him against his cheek and chirpped softly, the hippogryph's attempt at reassurance succeeding. Keiji now placed his head safely on the ground. Both safe for Keiji and Lirit seeing as how it wasn't as likely Keiji would loose control of his head like that on the ground. He was surely safe with this gryph. However, figuring out, with his way of thinking, how this gryph was related to him was puzzling. Could they be his mother? Or his father? It would have to be a question for another day and time, for he couldn't figure it out at the moment.

Jenna had only been in the world for a sand's grain of time and already she was picking up so many sights, sounds, and smells that sparked her newly hatched interest. Little nostrils flickered as she nosed up a patch of clover and sunlight showered over her in bands.
Keiji, also the small newborn that he was, laid in the tall grass half asleep. The sweet smell of the grass continuing to waft through his nose. He snorted it out for a moment before yawning and lifting his head to 'look' around. His still closed eyes not able to give him any sight details, but his nose picked up on a few scents in the air. He could smell a few other unfamiliar things in the air at the moment, but couldn't place them.
Jenna yawned wide, the wind dancing on the grass with a gentle whoosh and the sound of birds warbling cheerily were lulling her into a sleepy swoon. She stretched and rolled to her back before curling up again and letting the sounds fill her mind with dreams.
Keiji sniffed the air again as the gentle breeze came over him. He then started to wiggle his small body across the grass and over to the odd smell. As his body inched across the grass he came closer and closer to Jenna. He smelled the scent growing stronger and so let out a loud chirp.
Jenna let out a squeal, a scent she didn't recognise came close and instead of getting scared like most would do she started chirping the "begging" chirp she gave to her mother and father when she wanted to be cuddled, washed, or fed. Her head turned this way and that but all she sould see was sunlight on the back of her lids.
As soon as Keiji reached Jenna finally, he practically ran into her. He couldn't really tell where he was going, he was simply following his nose. He let out a chirp as he hit Jenna's soft coat. Keiji sniffed at her coat as well and confirmed to himself that it was the scent he was following.
Jenna chirruped and felt another warm body that felt just as soft as hers bump against her. She knew it wasn't mother or father, but perhaps it was a brother or sister? Without hesitation she moved to stick her nose against Keiji for a thorough sniffing. Without thinking, instincts drove her to try and wash him.
Keiji was slightly startled to feel the other being attempt to wash him. He didn't recognize the others smell and so wondered why it was attempting to clean him. He turned his head towards the hippogryph cleaning him and chirpped lightly while nibbling at her fur. He didn't know who they were, but he supposed they weren't a threat.
Jenna chirped with enthusiasm at Keiji, she tried to wobble about to move around him for further inspection only managing to inch about in a tight circle. Stopping suddenly to yawn, she felt the urge to sleep flood her all over again
Keiji could tell by smell and the way the grass and other plants moved that the gryph was moving about him. He let out a small chirp and wiggled to the side as well to face Jenna. He stretched his head forward slightly to sniff the air for her. He moved his head to the side slightly and sniffed again smelling the clovers this time. He hadn't noticed them before due to the excitment of smelling Jenna. He let out another chirp.
Jenna snuggled up against Keiji and gave a little stretch, feeling the warmth of sunshine and of Keiji's body against hers made her feel soooooo sleepy. She started chirping so softly that it was barely audible, almost singing herself to sleep as her head began to droop and her little paws tucked snuggly underneath her.
Keiji felt Jenna's small body snuggle up against his. He could feel her chirp softly by the way she took in breaths, but his mind started to become sleepy as well. He let out another chirp, he didn't want to go to sleep yet. He hadn't figured out who his new friend was. It wasn't like the other hippogyph before, Lirit. He nudged his head to the side against her and rolled slightly to the side.
Jenna tried to wake up against, though her curiosity wasn't enough to sustain consciousness for long. She peeped back at Keiji, hardly able to lift her head in response. She tried to peep once more, but a yawn overtook it and her mouth opened wide.
Keiji could tell now that the other gryph was going to sleep. They were less responsive. He 'huffed' and then let out a yawn. He was defeated for now. His curiosity would have to wait it seemed. He set his head down and surrendered to his own newborn sleeping tendancies.

Log 1 as an Infant
5/20/06
Keiji mouthed a blade of grass as he stood in the familiar field. The field had been his home durning his newborn days and he was still too new and unsure of his world to venture too far from it. However, now he could actually see his lush green feild and hear the air wisk past his ears.
Autumn trots around happily, eyes closed, nostils flaring. Young boy seems to be enjoying the afternoon, the smell of the rich, green field. His trotting is a bit obnoxious, just a happy little boy tromping slowly through the fields.
But then he catches a different smell! Another gyrph? Eyes open and he spots a brown one not too far away. Boyish giggle sounds. New friend, maybe!? He rears up a bit, and gives a few stomps of his front paws on the earth, then makes his way merrily to the boy, from behind, "Hi!"
It wasn't too long before Keiji caught smell, then hearing, and finally sight of the new gryph as he turned around. His front legs started to shift and move about in sudden excitment. "H-hi!" He responded, his ears perking forward in curiosity. He had never seen this gryph before, actually, it was the first gryph had had actually seen rather than smelled. Keiji would be greeted by another little boyish giggle, then an introduction. "What's yer name?! Mine's Autumn!" One paw lifted, shortly after settling on the ground again. Then the other paw did the same. He was sort of in the mood to play. Tail wags ever so happily behind him, smiling widely.
Keiji smiled slightly at the gyph's giggles. "My name's Keiji!" He informed and watched as the gryph wiggled around. Wonder if he wants to play..I can play! Yeah..that would be fun! He thought to himself. "Wanna play!?" He asked eagerly, his own tail starting to steadily sway behind him.
"Sure!" Autumn exclaimed excitedly. He wasn't sure exactly what game to play. His front paws stomped in alternating patterns on the grass, playful whinny at Keiji, and some laughter as well. Such a perfect, fun day! It was nice to have someone to play with besides little chicks. After a few little stomps, he lowers front half to the ground, rump in the air with tail swishing side to side. "Whatcha' wanna' play, Keiji? Wrestle? Tag? Hide 'n' Seek?" He giggles, and tail keeps moving.
Keiji chuckles at the gryph. He wasn't sure what he wanted to play, maybe just wrestling! "Let's wrestle!" He announced and then tried to tackle Autumn to the ground playfully. The energy Autumn displayed did make Keiji more excited than he felt before. He let out an high pitched chirp, must like he made when he was still just a newborn.
The young boy managed to respond with an "Okay!" before he was tackled over. Snickering, Autumn rolled over swiftly and countered the play-fight move with a gentle pin, "Pinned ya'!" Then he let up and ducked down into pouncing position, rear end in the air again. Still that tail of his was whipping around joyfully. He was taunting Keiji to try and tackle again!
Almost as quickly as Keiji had tackled Autumn, he found himself spun around facing the sky. After Autumn got off again he chuckled and put his front part down as well this time. "Oh-ho, you asking for it?" He chuckled and then lept at Autumn again, trying to throw him down and pin him this time. He wasn't so steady with this action, depsite his best intentions to be so. This said, he was probably easily thrown off balance.
"I'm askin'! C'mon and -" here he comes! Autumn let Keiji pin him, just grinning for a moment. Before Keiji could make any other movements, he test waters to try and see if he could perform the same move of countering.
A firm shove at Keiji!
If successful he'd get Keij on his back again and roll right off, giggling. Triumphant smile as he tauntinglh trots around Keiji. He was just ASKING to be pwned.
If he fails to shove him over, he's just try to roll out from under him, which was easier to do, possibly sending Keiji muzzle-to-dirt.... just maaaaybe. And after that roll, he'd leap at Keiji to pounce on his back! Or try to, which might be avoidable if Keiji was fast enough to see him and move out of the way. Keiji cocked his head slightly as Autumn grinned at him once he had pinned him. Then he realized why. Keiji fell off of Autumn with the shove, but just as he did he tried to pounce back on him, however he failed. So instead of sticking around, he started to dart around Autumn a bit. Running to one side and then stopping and stomping the ground slightly. "Catch me if you can!" Keiji taunted this time.
Successful with the shove, trotting around watching the failed pounce, then the prancing the other gryph was doing. Just what was he doing? Ohhh, that's what! The little fall-colored boy ducked to the ground. "Yer gonna' get it!"
With that, Autumn's hind paws pushed him up off the ground and he dart into the air and starts running, heading towards Keiji for what he presumes a game of chase or tag. Keiji let out a giggle before he turns, almost getting his front legs tangled up in each other and tripping himself. After the initial stumble, however, he darted off in a run through the long grass, trying to create some lost distance after his stumble. He ran around a rock and then tried to scramble up it clumsily. "No..can't catch!" He said, his sentance structure poor.
"Yes huh I'll get you!" proclaimed the little Autumn boy. He had chased Keiji to the rock, and reared up on his hinds, little whinny with the gesture. Front paws land with a thump on the rock's side. One paw lifts up, batting the air in Keiji's direction. Who knows, he might hit some part of Keiji if the other boy was close enough! Of course, he's not hitting very hard, either.
Keiji could feel Autumn bat at his tail and back leg and lunged his front legs up farther up ontop of the rock. He stood proud up ontop of the rock and glanced around before looking back down at the fall colored gryph. "Can you climb up here?" He asked, almost taunting.
Autumn's tail wagged, his paw settling back on the rock. "Yes! I can! But... I think I should go find my daddy 'n stuff... they're prolly wonderin' where I am. I'll show you next time! I'll get up on that rock before you! I'll be king of the rock!" He giggled at that and pushed front paws against the rock, landing them on the grass, starting to trot off in the direction of his nest. It wasn't an excuse to get out of climbing the rock, he really did have to go!
Then he remembered a goodye, so stopped and turned his head, "Oh! Bye bye, seeya Keiji! I had fun, maybe we'll play again!"

Keiji pounced and trampled around the empty field. Keiji was flatting mole holes for fun as he pounced around, that was, until he spotted a butterfly. The motion of the lightly fluttering black and blue wings caught Keiji's attention.
He put his front legs down, butt in the air before bounding after it. The butterfly fluttered away as the young gryph chased after it playfully. It was unsure as to what he would actually do to the bug if he ever caught it, but at this point the main entertainment was the chase of the insect.
"Get over here you little twirp!" He shouted after the butterfly in the mist of his chase. The butterfly did not listen, of course, and even flew higher in the air.
"Grrr...get back here! Cheater!" Keiji shouted as he jumped and lept below the bug. He wasn't getting too close to the insect either way, but it was the attempt that counted. As the butterfly flew beyond it's reach still, Keiji watched it run off and sighed in dissapointment.

Keiji pounded his infant weight around the open field in hot persuit of a frog he spotted. He didn't have an intent on killing it when he reached it, but at the rate of his pounding, he just might do so. "Get back! Stop jumping little green thing!" He insisted, continueing to bound after it.
"It's called a frog," Artemis explained upon coming up near the other gryph. Her mother had told her as much-- and she would know. Gaea seemed to know -everything- there was to know.
Keiji jumped slightly, hearing Artemis from behind. He turned to look at the other Gryph. "A frog?-Oh hey! It's getting away!" He shouted glancing back at the frog jumping away from them as they spoke. "Help me catch it!" He pleaded as he turned to pound after it again. Artemis didn't like being ordered around, really, but chasing after the frog did seem like fun. She took off after it as well, though clumsily. She was, afterall, even a bit smaller than Keiji was. "Here, you take that side and I'll take this," she said, coming around to the frog's left. Perhaps they could close in on it that way..
Keiji did as the other gryph instructed. He hadn't thought of such a strategy. The other gryph must be pretty smart, he concluded. He ran around to the right. The frog stopped for a moment and then hopped again, stopping once more and croking. Keiji's ear twitched to the side for a moment at the sound.
Artemis didn't even seem to notice the croaking. The second time the frog stopped, she pounced on it. She didn't want to hurt it, of course. Just to catch it. "Ahaa! Got you, you little bugger."
Keiji trotted slowly over to Artemis in excitment. "Lemme see! Lemme see!" He pleaded and hopped around her, his tail swishing back and forth. He knew what the frog looked like, but not close up! So of course that was a priority on his list of things to do.
The little green gryph lifted a paw to let him observe the frog. He was certainly acting like the younger of the two of them! So immature. Ah well. Not everyone could be like Artemis.
Keiji calmed for a moment and bent down to look at the frog at its own level. "Oooh.." He let out as he observed the new creature. Suddenly, the frog hopped onto Keiji's small snout and his eyes got large in fear. "It's on me!! Get it off!!" He said as he shook his head, tossing the poor frog to the side. He let out a relieved sigh. Mostly likely convenced that he was going to die.
Artemis raised an eyebrow at the other gryph. He struck her as a little silly...but endearing in a way, she supposed. Interesting, at the very least.
"I think you'll be okay," she assured him, "Frogs aren't poisonous or anything. We have lots of them where I live." Keiji looked to the female gryph. "Really? Where do you live?" He inquired, turning his attention to the gryph now rather than the frog. He felt the girl seemed much older than she looked. She was so calm and knew a lot of stuff!
Artemis liked seeming like she knew a lot of stuff. So she cultivated that idea. "I live in Damia Natura territory," she recited, remembering that her mother had told her to tell that to an adult gryph if she ever got lost. "To the South some."
"Oooh.." Keiji nodded, trying to sound like he knew what she was talking about. He turned around in circles a bit trying to find out which way was South. In reality, he had no idea what she was talking about. "Um..so, what games do you like to play?" He asked, trying to change the subject now. To be truthful, she didn't really know which way was south either. But, he didn't have to know that. Artemis blinked, looking at him for a second and then contemplating his question. She didn't really play a whole lot of games. Mainly she explored things and wrestled a bit when the occasion presented itself.
"Er...I'm not sure," she said quietly, "I mostly just...do whatever I feel."
Keiji turned his head slightly. "Well then, let's play tag!" He announced and tried nudging Artemis with his muzzle before running off. "Catch me if you can!"

Malcom was asleep, Jenna was on his back and talking in her sleep. It was the typical scene when it was naptime. Malcom slept like a dead rock as of late with Jenna running him to the ground at every waking hour, naps were treasured and Jenna for all her energy was pretty good at settling down for a nap.
They both lay there asleep in the overcast light of the afternoon.
Keiji was casually walking through the field and towards the rock the two were sleeping. He didn't notice the two sleeping, his nose was down to the ground sniffing the moist damp earth, the grass tickling his nose making him wiggle it a bit. He finally lifted his head and glanced at the gryphs on the rock and cocked his head to one side before walking over to investigate.
When Jenna did talk bits of words and sentences it was usually in her sleep. She had as of late been too impatient to convey any kind of sentence to anyone and her vocabulary only consisted of things that amused her anyway.
"Jen-jen..." she muttered. "SHWOOM!"
Malcom had gotten used to those naptime outbursts and was sleeping through it, though his paw always twitched and flexed when she shouted.
Keiji's arms perked forward when Jenna muttered and shouted her phrases. Was the gryph awake or asleep? She was talking, yet..sleeping? When he reached the two, he nudged the talking one slightly. If she didn't wake or say anything then he would leave her, he guessed. He didn't want to wake her if she was actually sleeping. However, the outbursts made him curious, so he had to investigate. Jenna squealed shrilly in her sleep, she started running with her feet in the air where she was on top of Malcom's back. Malcom muttered in his sleep and heaved a large yawn.
"Not now, Jenna..." he muttered and smacked his lips before resting his head down again. "Five more minutes, okay?"
Keiji jerked his head back quickly for fear of the gryph's feet smacking him in the face. He was still puzzled as to whether this gryph was awake or asleep. He knew the one under her was asleep, or partially asleep..
"Excuse me?" He whispered harshly, still not wanting to wake them, but yet, he supposed in a way he did also

Keiji was, once again, playing in the feilds, romping around as though he were playing with another gryph. However, he was not. Instead, he was chasing after a fly, small, yet entertaining to Keiji.
"I'm gunna get you! Just wait and see!" He taunted the fly, who just darted around as usual.
Keiji tried to chomp at the fly, but was unsuccessful and the fly soon flew upwards. He tried to jump up and catch the fly with his teeth again, yet, again, was unsuccessful. The fly flew beyond his reach and Keiji watched it was it drifted upwards and out of view. He pouted in disapointment and hung his head slightly.
"Maybe I ought to stop trying to catch fast moving bugs.." He mumbled to himself in frustration as he dragged his hooves across the dirt to under a tree. He flopped onto the grass under the tree's shade and curled up slightly, looking out into the feild until his eyes grew heavy and he fell asleep.

Keiji was not in the usual field he found himself in almost everyday of most of his life, well, at least not in the middle of it at least. He stood at the edge of a stream by the end of the field today. He had found the new splashing water amusing and so decided to make it splash as much as he could, pummpling his feet into it, soaking his fur as he did so. He let out a boyish giggle as he tossed his mildly damp muzzle in the air in enjoyment.
Waddling to this same stream is the domestic Hippogryph, Whisper. His appearance is distinctive only because of the lack of wings. He comes up on this stream, sticking his mouth down into it to begin sucking up the water when he notices from the corner of his eye the older, wilder Hippogryph splashing and wading around.
He lifts his head up, blinking his widening eyes as he observes. It took Keiji a good four minutes to realize that someone was watching him, but when he did, his playfull splashing halted. He stared back at the domestic Hippogryph and cocked his head to one side. He noticed almost right away that this one had no wings, none what so ever. He didn't understand why. He would have to investigate.
"Hey!" He said in enthusiasm and started to trot across the stream to meet the gryph. On his way over he nearly fell completely in, having slipped on a slimy rock and plunged into the water partially creating a large splash. "Ooof!" He let out just before he recovered himself from the fall and quickly looked around to make sure no one other than the strange hippogryph before him saw his mistake. When he finds out that he's been spotted, the young Gryph stumbles backwards, tripping over a rock himself and falling on his butt into the soft mud with a whinny of surprise. He turns his head to look, seeing his creme colored coat covered in mud. He wasn't arrogant and didn't care much about his looks but this meant a bath, which no child likes.
He jerks to look back at the odd Gryph when he hears the shout. He forcefully pulls his temporarily stuck butt out of the mud, grunting at the added weight from the wet dirt. He shrinks back when the other male trips and falls face first into the water it seems, his ears flagging down against his head.
Judging by the frightened expression on his face, it doesn't appear as though he registers the fall as a mistake or any kind of accident. He doesn't even seem to register it happened at all.
When Keiji realizes no one else was around to see his fall but the odd gryph, he shakes himself off and looks to the other gryph before walking forward a bit. He paused for a moment, however, noticing the kid's ears pinned back on his head and so cocks his own head in confusion.
"What's wrong? Why don't you have wings? Where are you from?" The young Gryph blurted out his questions in a furry, not even realizing that perhaps all the questions were, one, rude, and two, too much for the strange gryph.
His eyes only grow wider as this Hippogryph comes closer, and he shrinks further back and away as if trying to get away. Of course it's pretty obvious that he is but he can't seem to get his legs to move. That doesn't help him in this dilemma.
He was younger than this other one; that was fairly obvious judging by his size, and without his wings he doesn't look that impressive either. He doesn't answer for whatever reason: a lack of ability to speak or just the fear of what this male could do to him.
The lack of answers makes Keiji even more curious and confused. He stopps his approach, however, leaving him still in the stream, but away from the most mossy part of the stream. The vibe the younger gryph was giving off only now hit Keiji, seeing as how he wasn't the most observant gryph he could be. He wasn't sure what to do about the wingless gyph now. It didn't seem to be able to talk, he concluded.
"Well, it's ok if you can't talk...I'll tell you who I am!" He announced with joy. "I'm Keiji and I'm from the western flock!" He said.
This was a little too much for him. He watches, and when he sees that this other Hippogryph isn't going to come any closer, he forces some strength to go into his legs so that he can skitter backwards to put more distance between them. He didn't dare turn around and run though; he was in a prey position, and it hadn't yet occurred to him that this one isn't a predator and is certainly friendly.
Despite what's said, he only stiffens more and from the sight of him it looks as if he's about to pass out at any given moment.
Keiji saw the little gryph's body stiffen this time and was confused once more. He was going going to hurt him. Had he never seen another Hippogryph before? Maybe he was lost and was scared.
"I'm not going to hurt you. Are you lost?" He asked, trying not to be so hyper and scary to the gryph, but was not used to trying not to be scary and hyper.
That was really it for him. Something snapped and he jerks himself to his feet once more, scrambling against the ground and bolting to get away from the other Hippogryph. Of course since he doesn't have the greatest sense of balance and is quick to lose his footing, tripping over his own feet and flying off the ground after he rolls and slamming onto his back a few yards away.
Keiji's eyes widened for a moment as the gryph struggled to dart away from him and winced as he rolled backwards. He decided to go check and see if the little gryph was ok, whether or not it would scare him, Keiji did not think of. He picked up his pace, exiting the stream and following the path the small one took as he stumbled backwards.
"Are you alright?"
He was dazed, his mind swirling, his eyes clouded. He grumbles to himself, feeling the dull throbbing in his back and his skull from the unfortunate crash. He rolls himself forcefully to his stomach, wobbly rising up to his paws.
Blinking slowly he doesn't realize that the other Hippogryph has come up to him, and he lifts his head up, trying to focus his blurring eyes on what's in front of him.
Keiji looked down at the gryph as he stood up. He stopped just infront of the domestic gryph and looked him over. "You ok?" He asked, tilting his head to one side. He didn't even realize that Whisper might turn and run again at the sight of him.
His eyes were still seeing birds, and he forces himself to sit down before he falls again. That had hurt him. He lifts his head up, tilting it to look at the face of the Hippogryph but whatever had made him run before is not forcing him to do so again.
However he doesn't speak either, but nor does he nod or shake his head to actually answer.
Keiji stares back at the gryph silently for a few moments. He was almost at a loss as to what to say. He finally moved his head forward to sniff the other gryph as if it would tell him if the small one was injured or ok. If anything at least he would be able to tell his smell again next time. Not to mention that he hadn't been able to get close enough to sniff at the little gryph.
He shrinks back when the nose comes near, his eyes slowly accumulating back to their normal line of vision. He knew it was the other Hippogryph but at this point he also felt it was futile to try and run off. So he stands there, letting him sniff and poke at him as much as he wants while patiently waiting for him to go away at the same time. Keiji sniffed at the youngin and then moved his face away from him. He tilted his head once more, noticing the gryph looking at him again.
"So, you not scared anymore? Can you talk?" He tried asking questions again.
He manages a small, a very small sense of relaxation when the head is drawn away. This comfort isn't enough to make him lose the tension entirely; he remains in that stiff posture feeling himself growing smaller under the gaze of the other, even if it wasn't a crude one.
Still, he keeps himself quiet, refusing to speak one might assume, and by now he has also dropped hi shead as if waiting some kind of blow that may never come.
Keiji watched the movements of the other gryph intently. What was it about the gryph that made it think he was going to hurt him? This he could not understand. He offered a slightly chuckle to ease the tension, or so he thought, between the two. He then attempted a soft nudge with his muzzle at the other gryphs small shoulder.
That was it for him. Yes it was. As soon as he felt that nuzzle he was on his feet and bolting away once more. This time he doesn't fall and he was heading right back to home!
