Edible Plants List
*Note*
Do not eat anything you are unsure of. Be sure you know the species. Some pansy ssp. are edible and some are not. Do not eat plants from lawns, roadsides, or anyplace that has used chemicals on them!

Angelica- Has a celery like taste.
Anise Hyssop(Agastache foeniculum)- Tastes sweet and like licorice
Apple(Malus)-
Basil(Ocimum basilicum)-
Carnations- Peppery
Catnip(neopeta cataria,sp?)- Purple, white, pink flower spikes. Use dried leaves and flowers in tea. Sprinkle in your cats food if your cat won't eat.
Chamomile(Chamaemelum noblis)- Sweet aroma. Great as a tea.
Chives(Allium schoeonoprasum)- garlic/onion flavor
Chrysanthemums- pungent
Dandelions(Taraxacum officinale)- Bitter tasting greens. All parts of the plant are usable. Use petals in salad or wine. The root can be roasted, fried or boiled.
Day Lily(Hemerocallis)- Not all lillies are edible! The flowers are used. often prepared stuffed. Yum.
Gardenia-
Gladiolus-
Garlic and Blossoms-
Hollyhock(Althea rosea)- bland flavor
Honeysuckle(Lonicera japonica)- Sweet smelling. Do NOT eat the berries as they are poisonous.
Hyssop-
Impatiens- Bland flavor
Jasmine- Sweet flavor. Good as a tea.
Lavender(Lavendula)-
Lilac(Syringa vulgaris)-
Marigolds(Tagetes patula)- Bitter and spicy flavor. Use in salad and sweets.
Mint(Mentha)-
Nasturium(Tropaeolum majus)- All of the plant is edible. Buds are sweet/peppery. Use flowers and greens in salads.
Pansy(Viola X wittrockiana)- Tastes sweet and tart. Use in salads and sweets.
Passion flower(Passiflora)-
Pea(Pisum)- Do NOT eat flowering ornamental species.
Purslane-A common weed. Use raw in a salad or sauteed. High in omega-3 fatty acids (5 times that of spinach) and vitamine c. Tastes peppery.
Red Clover(Trifolium pratense)- Flowers are not easy to digest raw.
Rose(rosa)- Hips are a good source of vitamine C. The petals can be used as a tea or in salad.
Rosemary(Rosmarinus officinalis)- Fragrent, Pinelike taste.
Sage(Salvia officinalis)-
Snapdragon(Anthirrhinum majus)- Use as a garnish.
Squash(Cucurbita pepo)- Blossoms often prepared stuffed.
Sunflower(Helianthus annuus)- Young buds have a artichoke flavor.
Tulip(Tulipa)- Bulb is prepared stuffed.
Violets(Viola odorata)- Sweet tasting. Candied or fresh on a salad.

youve just been talking away to yourself, havnt you!! so i just had to join in, in case you were lonely!! heart
the only herb i grow is basil, but iv got onions, carrots, spuds, peas, cabbage, strawberries, raspberries, blackberrys and gooseberries growing alright!! its a lot of work tho. my dad kind of takes it over, so i let him!! xd

Yeay, its Cael! If you have a sunny window or porch you could try a few little things. I am lucky that the owners let me grow what I am growing now. I was going to throw some pumpkins out there but my Gma stopped me. twisted
mwah ha ha!! forgot, id pumpkins at one stage!!they were mutants, twas so cool!!! cept i didnt like anything i made from them, so i just threw em into the field next door...they kinda stank!!

realt Yeay, its Cael! If you have a sunny window or porch you could try a few little things. I am lucky that the owners let me grow what I am growing now. I was going to throw some pumpkins out there but my Gma stopped me. twisted mwah ha ha!! forgot, id pumpkins at one stage!!they were mutants, twas so cool!!! cept i didnt like anything i made from them, so i just threw em into the field next door...they kinda stank!! LOL, my cousin smashed a pumpkin in his yard one year. That summer their whole front yard and some of the back yard was covered in pumpkin. It was soo funny because the yard was once bare and you could walk straight through it and then you couldn't even see the ground. His parents were uh really pleased. I don't live in an appartment not but I did a few years ago. I planted moon flowers and morning glory vines on my balcony. They grew down onto the bottom floor appartment and the one on the side of mine. I didn't get in trouble for it either. Side note, don't eat moon flowers or morning glories they are poison.

I just got a new book on herbs and spices that I will add on my day off. I havn't found a good flower and wild food book yet. I am looking for one with very good illustrations and information.

I would like to point out that a plant called Queen Ann's Lace is edible. Its roots at least, and they smell like carrots. But it can be dangerous trying to eat this plant because there is a plant that exists that looks almost exactly like Queen Ann's lace. It's called Spotted Water Hemlock, it is the most poisonous plant in North America, it can kill in less then fifteen minutes and there is no cure for its poison.
Pick carefully, friends.

I've eaten rose petals. ^^ Today. They taste very bland, and very plain..like rubber.
I'd like to point out that Dizzy Lizzy berries are poisonous, trust me I've eaten them when I was younger. They were so juicy and sweet...but later I regretted it, I suffered from a most painful stomach ache. -_-
