I've been sitting on this concept for a while and finally buggered myself enough to put it up. Of course, it was due to some prodding from Snoo and the fact the concept contest was arriving, but hey, I got it up right? Enki is dear to my heart due to his excerpt.
The Neverending Story has been one of my favorite books since I was very small. I've read it many many times and am the proud collector of all the movies.
So, please, feedback on the concept is always appriciated.

Forgotten's Name: Enki
Forgotten's Gender: Male
Daemon's Name: Transparent
Daemon's Species: Earth Dragon
Forgotten's Appearance (Physical): Enki wears typical Native American like clothing. Natural hide/leather tunic, pants, and moccasins. His hair is a gradiant of dark green fading into a very faint gray before becoming a transparent white-grey towards the ends. The boy's eyes are a deep earth-toned brown with flecks of green.
The best way I can describe him physically is that he looks like he's "Fading" from existance. At times he looks solid, at times he looks just a hint transparent. In fact, his feet are the most transparent of all his body, his head being the most solid.
Forgotten's Appearance (Traits): Standoffish is the best way to scribe how he looks.
Daemon's Appearance (Physical): Transparent is a light brown dragon who has green leaves and dried twigs seeming to grow from her skin. Her back is ridged with what appears to be very dangerous thorns. These follow all the way to the Daemon's tail, which ends in a barbed ball. Transparent 's wings are leathery, like the rest of her body, and at the very tip of them are thorn-like spikes matching the ones on her back. Her eyes are the color of golden honey, and always seem to have a mischievous glint in them.
The dragon is NOT very large, at all. In fact, at first, she's small enough to fit in the palm of Enki's hand. Fully grown, she should be no bigger than a slightly larger than average house cat.
Daemon's Appearance (Traits): Protective.
Forgotten's Personality: Enki is...A very giving boy. He just really wants to be liked and appriciated and accepted. However, sometimes he's generous to a fault. He's the kind of boy who would give up his own food and starve rather than let someone else go through it. Then again, he doesn't need to eat at all, so it's really not relevant is it?
He's a good listener, a good shoulder to cry on, and better yet, a great friend for girls. Why? He won't try to get into their pants like just about any other teenager when the time comes. For two reasons.
Transparent hates females and while he understands females probably better than most males (Which isn't saying a whole lot), he'll most likely have had enough of them with his two older sisters. Who are both VERY Feminine.
Needless to say, Enki would probably be more like "Boysplzkthx" when it comes to partners. Note that this isn't set in stone and RP changes and modifies everything. This is just how I see it - mostly because of how Transparent is.
At times, generally around the new moon, when the sky is it's blackest, Enki falls into a week-long bout of depression. While the new moon only lasts one night, the effect of it lasts 7 days. Enki, at this time, generally feels as if everything is desolate and dying. He doubts himself, and others, and loses the generous sweet nature which has come to be known.
In fact, he's almost dangerous. His depression, unfortunately, is rather catching. Like a plague. During these times, Aiden tends to lock him in his room by his own request.
Enki himself can be very very stubborn. Mostly, the stubbornness rubs off from his daemon since he has to constantly battle with her for every little thing. If he weren't stubborn, Transparent would likely walk all over him.
Despite all his quiet and reserved nature, there's a need for adventure, for expanding, always inside of him and fighting with his shyness. Often times logic beats out jumping off a ledge or going sky diving, but if he feels comfortable enough with the group of people, he may actually let loose.
Later in his teenage years, he may or may not, depending on role play, let it all hang out and let all that pent up desire for adventure free. It'll never go anywhere, staying bottled up inside of him. Needless to say, if it happens, he'll be rather reckless and if not for Transparent, he'd be likely to get himself killed. Or irrevokably maimed.
Throughout his life, he'll most certainly take on the hobby of gardening. A bit cliche, but he can talk to the plants and whether or not people believe it, some of them actually have pretty wild imaginations. Besides, talking to them makes them more likely to grow.
His other hobbies would be reading (How could he not love reading with Khalindra in the house?) and cooking. Considering Aiden cooks about as good as a blind monkey and Alex is always too busy to do anything, Enki would probably take this job on just to keep him and his sisters from dying.
Okay. Aiden's not THAT bad...But he sticks to the same dishes he knows how to cook and it does get a little bit old after a while. Therefore, Enki takes the wheel as soon as he's able.
And don't tell Transparent but Enki really wants to learn how to sword fight. Convinced he could be the next Inigo Montoya, from childhood to adult hood, the Forgotten will, more than likely, beg one of his sisters' sword-wielding friends for lessons.
If he could find someone nifty with a bow and arrow, he'd most likely take on archery as well.
Daemon's Personality: Transparent, contrary to Enki, is a very unpleasant creature with a bad temper and a healthy dose of sarcasm thrown in to the mix. The only one she's fond of is Enki, and even then he has trouble with her sometimes. She's fiercely protective of him, and will, so long as she isn't held back by the boy, strike at the smallest sign of danger with her barbed tail.
Her tolerance of Enki's depressions is rather LOW...At first. Eventually, she'll get used to them, but until then her normal snarky nature will attempt to snap Enki out of his moods.
Generally, it won't work. Her bluntness, while usually appriciated by the Forgotten, has no affect on him during his 7 day dark periods. It annoys her to absolutely no end. Which is why, later on, she learns to ignore them.
All other times, however, she's quite the blunt dragon and will tear him a new one more times than not if he's being dense. She's also the kind of dragon that enjoys complaining about anything she finds remotely annoying.
All in all, she's a combination of a best friend, mother, and enemy to Enki. They have a definite love/hate relationship and while they fight, a lot...A LOT...They'd never purposely hurt eachother - at least, physically.
And if they do end up doing so, either physically or mentally, you can bet that one of them will eventually break down and apologize. Sometimes it takes longer, and they like to see who will break first, but it WILL happen.
Transparent also despises other females. Of any species. She does not like the competition. At all. She barely tolerates Enki's two sisters, and they're lucky she doesn't swing at them with her barbed tail.
...Even if Enki sometimes, secretly, begs her to.
Excerpt:
The tops of the trees nearest him were still green, but the leaves of those farther away seemed to have lost all color; they were gray. A little further on, the foliage seemed to become strangely transparent, misty, or better still, unreal. And farther still there was nothing, absolutely nothing. Not a bare stretch, nor darkness, not some lighter color; no, it was something the eyes could not bear, something that made you feel you had gone blind. For no eye can bear the sight of utter nothingness.
How does the excerpt affect the pair?: It affects their appearance (the fading foliage, the leaves) and Enki's depressions (Their 'fading' desolation. From happiness to despair in a gradual way) and of course, Transparent's protectiveness (Who wouldn't be protective over their fading world?)
What does it reveal about..
.. their past?: It shows the impending event of their world fading forever. However, since there's no conclusion and it's left hanging...One can only guess what happens, right?
.. how they are now that they are "reborn" as a Forgotten? Enki's indecisive on this point. Half of him believes that because the excerpt is only a small piece of their past, that he can change it and rewrite the outcome of whatever it was that happened. The other half feels he's doomed to fade away. Then again, this side generally only shows during his moods.
.. their future?: Truly? It doesn't show much of their future. It fades away. Enki believes it's to be able to write his own future, rather than follow a written law.
Powers, talents, special traits?:
Photosynthesis -
Enki, due to his earth-like nature, does not need to eat. As long as he's in the sunlight for a few hours a day, Enki has all the energy he needs. His body makes it's own food.
Communications -
Enki can communicate with plants and animals. If it turns out he doesn't take well to others, his best friends will most likely be animals. Because of this, he also seems to attract animals and loves to take in strays.
Phasing -
The ability to turn into different densities of mist is also Enki's. Usually it's triggered by extreme emotion, but eventually he'll be able to control it. It seems to be a knee-jerk reaction

His generosity reminds me of Elias' @_@ but that's about all that they have in common. biggrin which is totally fine IMO.

Appearance - the fading part is pretty cool :3 totally different from the monochrome-ness of Otium biggrin

A couple minor things-- what shade of green is his hair? Also, I'm curious about his skin tone: is it a dark indian red colour?
Also, I agree about the powers. I'd say take the plant/animal communication out, at the least. Possibly either the growing or the phasing as well, depending on where you want to go with him. It seems like a general mishmosh of any earth/plant related powers you could think of with phasing thrown in for fun. Make him mist-like or plant-like, but probably not both.
