I know this isn't directly connected to bipolar or the guild, but it's an issue I'd like to discuss. People's behavior on Gaia in the general forums is disgusting. The flaming, insulting, cursing, and harrassment has gone too far. People are getting sworn at and insulted for posting in the wrong forum, or spelling and grammar errors. That's ridiculous! No one shuld be flamed so badly for simple mistakes. This monstrous wave of poor behavior and bad attitude is turning old Gaian's away from Gaia and discouraging new members!
I'm asking everyone here to keep this in mind when they're posting in the general forums and be considerate towards others.

Not our fault if all the grammer nazi's came here. Even thought these grammer freaks find it funny when they call themselves by this title, yet get annoyed with someone tells them to slack off the grammer correction. A vicous cycle....

A vicous cycle.... *nods* We didn't bring them here, but we can try to deter them. If you see someone getting flamed for a petty reason, you might consider politely sticking up for them. Or at least don't join in. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here in the guild. We have a great group of people here. I'm talking about in the general forums.

I try to be all friendly to people in the GD. I actually try not to flame. I act like an a** sometimes, but it's more of a debate kind of thing than anything else. (:

I don't care about grammer really. Aslong as the message gets across. Sometimes not using proper grammer makes what ever your trying to say come across better. Get what i'm say'ing eek

It's pretty bad. I don't like it either. I want to talk to people but these others keep butting in sometimes and kill threads.
The only times I've flamed someone for spelling was when somebody called a thread poster stupid for having poor spelling, with a post with even more spelling mistakes than the person she called stupid. And the other time was when this woman was going "les kil al teh nOObs!" in GD.
Admins don't seem to get why people get all upset about the poor behavior.
Legitimate threads die sometimes without bumps because they've been buried by spam ones. Then the people who post get flamed for bumping. rolleyes

Meh, I must be avoiding the really bad areas, because I'm not too terribly annoyed by people doing those sorts of things within my view... then again, I've been avoiding GD since loooong before most of you even joined. sweatdrop

... I only give out to people for spelling because they spell in text speak (For example: I luv u!!mari me nd i wil luv im 4eva!!!") Only because I'm Obsessive though. (By the way, that was IMPOSSIBLE for me to write!!!) There's no excuse for spelling like that except for pure laziness. I do agree though, General Discussion has gone to the pits (Is that the right term?). Personally, I blame Chatterbox moving.

Agreed. My chief annoyances are:
1) Posts that are so badly butchered, as far as grammar/spelling/punctuation go, that I cannot read them.
2) L33t (Ouch! I die a little inside every time I type like that.)
3) People who are incapable of coming up with a reasonable, logical method by which to debate you, and thus end up just telling you, "******** off" or the like.
For these things, I will flame people quite brutally. I am proud to say, however, that I do not come down like a ton of bricks on some poor new person who does not understand Gaia yet.

Right I'm going to stick my hand in the air right now and say I was an elitist grammar nazi of the music forum.
I'm not proud of it but when I first joined gaia I realised that there are aload of people who are just plain lazy to use the literacy they have been given. I mean spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes I don't mind because I'm dyslexic so I can't expect people to type properly all the time when I can't (even if my user name is hypocrite).
We've cooled down in the music forum, FG is now just our little hiddy hole.
