Any ideas of how to make this guild run better, feel free to post it in here.
Note: Nobody from any army will be made into "Crew", before anyone tries to suggest that. The edit button would be used in some... negative ways.

let us discuss how battles will be conducted and where they should be held.
I feel that there should be over all rules. Like role a 10 sided dice and, depending what you role, will determin if you hit or miss. When fighting elite units, the stats should be bumped more toward the favor of the elites. for example if you roll with infantry vs infantry (or like VS like)
1- miss 2 -miss 3 -miss 4 -miss 5 -grazed target 6 -hit target in the leg 7 -hit target in the arm 8 -hit target in the torso 9 -hit a vital organ (like lungs) 10 -head shot
and if fighting something uneven then it should be unbalanced, like this infantry (with out anti vehicle equipment) vs tank (or weak VS strong)
1 - miss 2 - miss 3 -hit, but no damage 4 -hit, but no damage 5 -hit, but no damage 6 -hit, but no damage 7 -hit, but no damage 8 -hit and weakens 9 -hit and weakens 10 -hit and weakens
and if you have the advantage then... (like tank vs infantry or strong VS weak)
1 - miss 2 - miss 3 -grazed target 4 -hit target in the leg 5 -hit target in the arm 6 -hit target in the torso 7 -hit target in the torso 8 -hit a vital organ (like lungs) 9 -head shot 10 - pulverised taget
of course there can also be a roll for other actions (like opening the hatch to an enemy tank) that we can discuss and figure out how they will work.
The other thing is where should our battles take place. We could do it in the chatter box, it would be good advertisment for the guilds fighting, but it will cause non members to join the fray. This will cause more damage than good. I recomend that we open a sub forum here for the sole purpose of wars. the lead officers in charge of the battle can discuss where the fight can take place and who's on what sections of the map (of course they will be out of character when doing this, but it's for the little people!).

I really like this idea, but I don't think it should replace the standard RP wars. Maybe we could do both.
And yes, I, too, see the similarity, Pakuun.

um... I have War Hammer "Dawn of War", but this idea was inspired by "Dungeons and Dragons"... regardless of it's origins:
we should all agree on some kind of universal number system for the dice. This way it wont have to be created and agreed apon for every fight.

I had 40k, but that's irrelevant.
Actually, this idea mixed with the "PICK A COLOR" thread would easily make a good combo... the interesting thing is that if we can find a good artist, we could have each member of each army made into characters as well, adding a squad idea with it...
or will that just make thing complicated?

Ah man, Warhammer 40K kicks a**.
Anyway, I think that this could work when doing an 'all-out war' kind of thing, where we're fighting each other on a battlefield, but then have RP sections where players fight each other or go on spec ops/stealth and espionage operations. It could work, but I think we'd have to really put some work into the rolling system, something that everyone can agree on and is fun and fair.
And as for having an artist make special people, like actual people, I think that's a badass idea, and while I'd make my own for free, if we plan to do this, I could do other armies for a price.
And what of actual people? How would they fight against NPCs and each other? I don't think it's fair that a guild with more skilled players would get creamed just because another guild has more people. What will be done in that instance?

This could possibly be like a game of chess with living pieces. The units could make their own decisions based on what the commander wants them to accomplish. And I say that the either the commander, vice-commander, or a general should be in charge of the npc's actions.
Ahem.
Welcome to Gaia's version of Warhammer/D&D/chess/Advance Wars...

What would be best is if we had some one that could program a game from scratch or something. Something that was extreamly simple to use and could run online with almost any computer. It would have terrible graphics, but atleast all able bodied men could join.

That may be pushing it, the game. The problem would not be the actual game itself, because we have pleny ofd resources for that, including several people (such as myself) that have some level of programming skillz.
The main problem would be placing it online for others to use. If we have people on both sides that have decent photoshop ability, and photoshop for that matter.... people could save it in psd format and email it to eachother, the layers would allow for people to make around without destroying the map. The soldiers could inform the person with photoshop where they move, based on a grid system.
It's long and tedious, but could work assuming communication is good.
Well, there's my opinion on the matter

Well, there's my opinion on the matter ...Dude!!! why didn't I think of it before!? The Games Factory! you can buy it and download it to make games. You can download a trail version, but it dies out in a few days. If you buy the normal version, then you can make games for as long as you want, but other's would need it to play... but if you download the super version (don't know what it's called exactly) then you can have other people play it, even if they don't have the Games Factory installed! The Games Factory is simple. You make any kind of game, shooting, scrolling, what have you. I've made several scrolling games (like sonic or mario games), and using Advance War sprites wouldn't be difficult at all for me. They only hard part is to make it work online. I have never made a multi player game... Ontop of all this, I only had the trial version... here's the link - http://www.clickteam.com/English/tgf.htmIf any one has a spare $50... you want the Pro version. (buy me one while you're at it! ninja )

Could we not just have someone who is usually online use MS Paint to constantly update a map and have everything else be text-based?

Not the MS Paint system, because that could take half an hour per turn.
Photoshop (psd) documents work in layers, wich makes it easy to move everything else around while the map would stay unchanging. I would volunteer to do that, I have it.
Heck, it'll give me something to do finally!
