Backstory
Long ago, eons before the rise of technology, Humans and creatures of all kinds lived together, peacfully coexisting as equals. Dragons, Elves, Dwarves, Spirits, Mystics, Fae, and Were's of all kinds lived side-by-side with minimal conflict, and war was but a concept of pointless death and violence over meaningless material things. Majik and nature flourished in this world, and all was good for a time.
However, no peace lasts forever. Over time, humans grew to fear the beings that differed from themselves. Anything they couldn't tame was to be destroyed so that they could be the dominant species. Their weapons took form, and thier number became many, and in time, they had either killed or forced every 'monster' that opposed them into hiding. The 14 great Mages, masters of each elemental form of majik, forsaw this onslaught years before it was brought to light, and fled the planet Earth.
Knowing that no world close enough to this sun would be far enough away from the humans, the mage of Fire and the mage of the Cosmos combined their strengths to form 3 new stars. The mage of Stone used her own body to form the planet on which tey would live, the others bringing to it the life it would need to survive. Countless being of each race were brought to this world, the humans being left behind to reap what they sew.
The Story
This is our story. We are they who were forced to leave or perish. To flee or die. Submission was not and is not an option. The humans have yet to find us, and with any luck, they won't. So, safe from humanity, we'ver been free to grow, develope, and live out our lives in our own society. Majik is still very widely practiced, and the 14 mages are still around to teach it, all except Fiera, who's name we gave the planet in her honor.
Today is a momentous occasion. A family of dragons has laid a clutch of 20 eggs, and today their shells are hard. Soon they will crack, and a new generation of my race will be born. Many have come to celebrate with the proud parents, and a festival is to be held this evening in a feild a mile or so down the forrest path from their cave.

Now for a few simple rules:
1. Follow Guild and Gaia TOS at all times. Any breaking of the rules, even In-Character, will result in the standard punishments.
2. For those of you that don't know what the heck that is... no spamming, flaming, trolling, advertising or otherwise causing a nuisance of yourself. Anyone found doing so will be promptly ridiculed at our discression and repeat offenders will be unhesitataingly reported to the nearest moderator for further such ridicule.
3. Romance is fine, it happens in every good story. However anything above PG13+ will be reported swiftly, take it to PMs and IMs for cybering and such. We're here to RP a decent story, not to make out...
4. Do not God-Mod. Ever. It's no fair to anyone else, and no one likes a God-Modder. We're willing to let you know just how little we like them as well.
5. No killing one another period. This is a place for life, not war and destruction.
6. Please keep the level of literacy at a decent high. I can't stand 1337 or chatspeak (shortening your words to "u r" or "y u" etc. It's annoying.)
7. Keep OOC to a minimum.

Kazumay walked along the dirt path slowly, not really in a hurry to anywhere because she had nowhere she needed to go. For the forth time in a span of five minutes, Kazumay's stomach let out an angry grumble. Scratch that, she did have somewhere she needed to go, the next town to get some food. She had eaten her last ration of food last night and had currently been traveling on an empty belly since the sun had risen 'Food!' Kazumay's mind screamed as she sniffed around for anything. She'd even resort to berries if she had to, but there was nothing.
The Fox Were's silver ears flicked behind her as she heard the sound of an approaching horse draw wagon in the distance. She only had to wait but a moment or two before the wagon came into view as it topped a small hill and slowly came to a stop at the girl's side. Driving the wagon was a friendly looking Elf as he smiled down at the girl before asking for directions.
"Do you happen to know the way to the town with which they are holding the festival?" The elf asked.
"Festival?" Kazumay questioned, "I'm sorry I haven't heard of any festival going on."
"You haven't heard?" The elf seemed a little taken back by this as he stared down at the Fox Were in disbelief.
"Um ... no ..." Kazumay replied, not too sure how she was supposed to reply.
"How could you no have heard of such a momentous occasion?" The elf questioned, still baffled as to why the girl was so clueless, "A clutch of 20 dragon eggs are fixing to hatch!"
"Dragon eggs?!" Kazumay gasped. How could she have not heard of such news? Oh yes ... she had been traveling through the forest for a good three months, but still that was no excuse, "Would it be okay if I hitched a ride off you? I'd very much like to see a hatching!!" At that moment Kazumay's stomach growled at her again, "That and I don't think I'll make it walking to the next town on my empty stomach." The elf let out a heartily laugh at the girl as he patted the space next to him for Kazumay to climb abroad.
A good ten minutes later all they simply had to do was follow the crowd of other wagons as they headed for the town where the eggs were to be hatched, and a few more minutes later they were there. Kazumay thanked the elf for his hospitality just before she was swept off into the town to find the mouthwatering food that she had been smelling a good five minutes before they arrived at the town.

Rith ran by the entrance to the town carrying several buckets of water hanging from a long wooden pole mounted uon his shoulder, nearly knocking over the white Fox Were. He flapped his wings suddenly and stopped before her, one of the buckets flying off the end of the pole. "Ahhh!" He thrust out his hand and the bucket froze upside down in the air, the water holding rigid within it. With a quick turn of his wrist the bucket replaced itself on the end of the pole and he bowed hastily tot he girl. "Sorry! I'm in a real hurry." He turned and continued running, His hands holdingh tightly to the pole as he blew small lick of flame at the bottoms of each metal bucket to keep the water hot. Turning a corner he dissapeared behind a wooden stall.

Kazumay stood ridged as she watched the Dragon Were continue along his way in quite a hurry. 'Well,' thought Kazumay as she relaxed slightly, 'that could have ended much worse ...' Kazumay's stomach let out another angry growl, reminding her once again what she was looking for in the first place; food! The Fox Were easily maneuvered her way through the crowd as she followed her reliable nose to a small stand cooking an assortment of meets, but her mouth was preferably watering for the fish.
Two minutes later Kazumay was happily munching on a roasted fish upon a stick, another one for later in her other hand, as she surveyed the area. 'Now where is this hatching taking place? I'll get a horrible view if I'm not quick to get there.' However, with everyone around her all going in different directions Kazumay had no idea where to go. This was one reason why she hatted towns. Her sense of direction was never the best, and getting lost in crowds was far too easy for Kazumay. With a heavy sigh, the Fox Were took another bit of her fish as she stepped into the crowd and let them take her with the flow.

Rith ducked out of sight from the rest of the festival, into a park in the center of town. Siddling through trees and bushes, carefull of where he sent his flames as to avoid starting an unwanted fire in the underbrush, he made his way to the edge of a large pebble beach along the town's lake. Bowing slightly before a great golden dragoness and her black scalled mate as they sat protectively in the waters, he knelt and set the buckets on the stones, slipping out from beneith the pole, carefull not to catch his horns. Sliding the pole out telekinetically, he tested each water's temperature with two fingers. They were each good and hot, so, after looking to the dragoness for her approval to approach her clutch, he disperced the contents of the six pales into moats around each of the twenty eggs.
"There..." He said whiping his brow as he emptied th last bucket. "That should keep them warm till they hatch Marisai. How much longer do you think they'll be?" He tilted his head at her curiously, her head a good fifty feet above his.
She replied with a smile in her eyes. She closed her eyes and leaned agianst her love, nuzzling him softly as they kept a vigil over their clutch.
Rith grinned and bowed with wings spread. "Any time Marisai. Glad to be of service." He folded his wings and sighed looking at the eggs, then turned back to the dragoness. "I'd best get back to Rena. I'll send word to the Mayor that it's almost time." with that he turned away and ran off back through the woods.

It had been a long while since Kazumay had been in such a crowed place that it excited her and yet put her on edge at the same time. Kazumay had finished her fish a good while ago and was still walking along in the flow, unsure if she was going in circles our not but her head was beginning to spin nonetheless. It was then that Kazumay's eyes were caught by a vender selling beautiful beaded jewelry when she slammed into the back of an innocent pedestrian, almost knocking them in the fruit stand.
"I'm so sorry," Kazumay gasped as she bowed in apology, "I wasn't watching where I was going."
"So we meet again," a male's voice spoke, one vaguely familiar to Kazumay, before he let out a light laugh, "Did you find something to eat." Kazumay blinked before she lifted her head to find the elf that had given her the ride to the town.
"Yes!" Kazumay replied with a smile.
"At least you found what you're looking for," the elf replied, "I'll never be able to find my family in all of this mess." The elf let out small chuckle before he continued, "Did you hear? The hatching is going to start soon!"
"It is? Gosh ... even in a town I can't get any news," Kazumay grumbled.
"Hard to believe that with such ears," The elf teased, "I'd have quite the headache if I were you."
"Yes, well, I had been ignoring that pain until now," Kazumay remarked as she glared up at the elf, "thanks for reminding me."
"Any time," the elf replied with a smile, making it hard on Kazumay to resist smiling back at him, "You look lost. Would you like for me to show you to where the hatching is going to be?"
"Oh, yes! I would be very grateful if you did," Kazumay said as she began to follow the elf through the crowd keeping up with him as best as she could as they made their way to the hatching grounds along with many others.

Rith cleared the brush at the edge of the forrest, standing still hidden behind shop-stalls and food-booths. Looking to the sun to get himself oriented, he turned left and ran along the edge of the festival, caredfull to keep his wings tucked in, should he come across another unsuspecting pedestrian. The main forest path to the lake lie ahead of him, but that wasn't where he was headed. He merely needed to pass it. Leaping against a stall to his left, kicking off it's wooden back wall, and bounding off a nearby tree, he spread his wings and flipped over the stream of townsfolk milling into the forest. Landing on hard stones, he continued running along the outskirts of the festival untill he slit to a halt before a small drink stand. There sat Rena sipping at a tall iced drink, her tail swaying idly in the dust as her foot bounced to some faint music drifting out from the town square. Turning around to the sence of his presence, she smiled and motioned for him to sit with her, but he merely shook his head out of breath. Unable to breath slowly enough to speak, he reached out to her mind and spoke as dragons normally did. He gasped for some air and held it, letting out slowly.
At that notion she smiled and removed the straw from her mouth, setting the glass down on the table and walking over to her love. "You ok Rith?" She asked teasingly as he flapped his wings idly to cool himself.
He nodded and stood, still swaying his wings in the breeze. "I will be..." She took his hand in hers and he began leading her towards the forest. "Come on. We'd better hurry if we want to see how this works clearly." She smiled and they slipped into the trees, heading towards the lake via a little used animal trail.

Kazumay followed the elf into a rather large wooden area of the town as they made their way slowly through the trees until finally coming to a clearing. Two mighty dragons, a golden female and a black male stood silently in the lake water as they watched over their beautiful eggs protectively. The Fox Were could only stand in awe before the dragons as she completely froze. The elf had to pull Kazumay along, not wanting to leave her standing in the way of others at the edge of the woods, but even then the girl was in an awestruck state as she walked along awkwardly, tripping over her own feet before she came to her senses.
"You just stay right here, and save me a spot, okay?" The elf asked, "I'm going to go try and find my family."
"Sure, I'll save them a spot as well," Kazumay beamed as she watched the elf run back into the woods. Her golden eyes returned to the eggs once again as she continued to smile. 'My first hatching ... How exciting!!'

Rith and Rena leaped easily up into the lower branches of some trees near the lakeshore. The travelers were pouring in below, trying to get as close to the eggs as the Marisai would let them, which wasn't an in over three yards. She'd cast a spell shortly after she layed the eggs that wouldn't let anyone near them without her help. It was still mid-day, and the sun was dirrectly overhead, beating down rather intensely, more so for furred folk. There was a very slight breeze through the trees, but hardly enough to keep the masses content. Finding herself rather hot, Marisai flapped her immense wings gently, cooling herself off as well as stirring up a much appreciated wind that left all the spectators silent and smiling.
20 eggs was a large clutch, a very large one, an average dragoness nesting with only about 4 to 8 at a time. They had been a very lucky pair, Marisai and Kyrisan, to have had such a large family. Now, in this small town beach, their children would hatch. A low, nearly inaudible rustle of beach stones brought the crowd to silence as the first of the eggs bagan to move. Marisai layed her face close to the egg, a good five feet tall, but tiny to her, Kyrisan right beside her. The other eggs, as if on cue, all began to rock gently. Marisai glanced at Kyrisan, and he nodded to her in reply, turning quickly to the water and leaping into the air, flying off to get food for the hatchlings he'd caught earlier that day.
It only took him a few minutes to bring back a scorched and gutted animal carcas, the dirty work taken care of hours earlier. He set it on the stones a few yards away from the eggs and returned to his loves side, Rith taking Rena's hand in his own as they watched the two dragons nuzzle eachother affectionately. By now nearly all the eggs had stress cracks in the shells, scratching sounds comming from within many of them. This hatching was bound to be a good one.

'Where is he?' Kazumay thought to herself as she began to panic, 'They wont have a spot if they don't hurry! I can't hold them off forever ... I don't even know how much space I have to be saving ... He never really said who all in his family was actually going to be here ...' Kazumay began to panic even more until a tap on her shoulder brought her back to reality.
"Finally!" Kazumay gasped, "I was afraid I wouldn't have your spot by the time you got back!" The elf let out a hardy laugh at the girl as he gave her a pat on the head.
"I thank you for saving a space for myself and my family," He replied before turning to a beautiful young elf standing behind him, wrapping an arm around her hip in a protective and yet loving way, "This is the Fox Were I was talking about, love."
"It's a pleasure to meet you," The woman said softly with a warm smile upon her face, "I'm Nienna."
"It's wonderful to be able to meet you as well!" Kazumay replied with a small bow, "Your husband was talking about you non stop on the way here!" A light blush graced Nienna's cheeks, "He also mention--" Kazumay was stopped short by a tug at her tail. The Fox Were slowly looked to the ground to find a small elf girl holding onto her fluffy, silver tail. "... you daughter."
"Alassea!" Nienna gasped, "Don't do that!" The woman quickly pulled the giggling girl away from Kazumay's tail and sighed, "I'm sorry ... She's never see a Were before so controlling her curiosity is quite difficult."
"That's okay," Kazumay said with a smile as she dropped to the child's level, "Hello there little Ala! I'm Kazumay!" She smiled warmly at the little girl before continuing, "So, how old are you?"
"Five ... and a half ..." Alassea answered as she started up at Kazumay with wide eyes, "C-can I touch your ears?"
"Well, since you already grabbed my tail you might as well," Kazumay answered with a bright smile, only for a jolt of pain to irrupt from her ears as a giggling Alassea took hold of them. Kazumay simply let out a few awkward chuckles of her own as tears brimmed her golden eyes.
The time had come for the hatching to begin as Kazumay stood on the tips of her toes to see over the crowd with a bouncing Alassea upon her shoulder as she held a firm grip still upon her silver fox ears. Kazumay's pain was soon forgotten as the first egg began to rock, followed shortly by another. Soon every one of the twenty eggs were swaying and rocking with life as the dragons inside of them fought to break free. Her eyes widened as cracks began to form in the eyes and excitement swelled within the Fox Were. Any moment now the egg would hatch ... any moment ...

The rest of the hatching happened so fast it was hard to keep track of. One egg after another giving way as limbs broke free. Each egg hatched, all 20, all revealing creeling hatchlings of assorted colors. Kyrisan and Marisai each dirrected the newborns to the meat nearby, nuzzling them all as they emerged and purring intensely. With each one that emerged the crowd gave mixed emotions of surprise, excitement, encouragement, apprehension, and the random cheer.
Meanwhile, Rith and Rena sat silently in the tree, holding eachother's hand in thoughts of the day it would be their nest, and their clutch hatching. They stayed in these half forms for now, while they looked for a good place to call home, so that day would have to be delayed. Nevertheless, they held eachother close in thoughts of such a day, watching happily as each new life came into being, each soul taking it's first breath in this time. It was a truely magnificent sight, despite the annoying cheers of the spectators. Sometimes Rith wondered if they thought this a sporting event, and was rather glad they weren't going to have anyone around for the birth of their children.
These pleasant thoughts and daydreams were quickly pushed aside. While Marisai and Kyrisan were cleaning their children as they quickly fell asleep, the crowd suddenly fell silent. Far above the tops of the trees, high in the sky, what looked like a great commet falling through the atmosphere streaked slowly across the clouds. Too slowly, and far to big. The dragoness and her mate watched intently as the ball of fire crept across the sky, Rith and Rena doing the same.
Rena gripped his hand tightly as a powerfull wave of a very unnerving energy swept past the region. "What's going on Rith?" She asked partially frightened.
Rith stared at the unwelcome fire sliding through the air, days away. "I don't know..."
