~ A Grumpy sort of Way ~

Grumpy, meanwhile, is just sleeping, curled up against his flock mother, True Heart.

Nestled off just to the right of Grumpy, Wish lay contentedly on the grass, yawning largely to the sun. Her mouth seemed to chew on air as she made a little 'phht' type noise. Pollen in her mouth.

The tiny wings on her back bristled as a quick breeze whispered by, and she stretched, snuffing beneath herself at the grass. Seemingly contented with this, the newborn flopped over onto her side and ended up halfways ontop of Grumpy.

Well, no time like the present to play. Sticking her nose to his side, Wish wiggled the best she could, her tiny folds of babyskin wriggling about weakly.

It was so hard to move around some days.

He grunts out loud when he feels that other Gryph roll and land almost atop of him. He stretches out and tries to wriggle away from her, though she does not weigh much more than this little sourpuss. He feels her nose pressing and he twists to roll onto his back, using a foreleg to shove away at her forehead though he isn't as strong as most might think so it's a futile and weak attempt, but it doesn't seem to matter to him. His expression is one of displeasure, obviously wanting to be left alone.

Wish almost seemed to grin at Grumpy's motions. This was like a game for her. As he pushed weakly at her, she pushed back. Quite obviously, she wasn't in any hurry to leave.

Her little tail flickered back and forth in excitement. Today was going to be a good day, and Grumpy was going to enjoy it with her!

He didn't care for her desires, only for his. He didn't care that it was a beautiful day and that she was determined to make him enjoy it too. No, Grumpy was not at all interested in a game or enjoying the nice hot sun. He just wanted to be left alone, which did not seem too easy to accomplish with Wish nearby. His little nose wrinkles and he pushes again before rolling once more to try and crawl away from her and hide in the soft, warm fur of True Heart.

Well, he was certainly a cranky baby today it would seem. Nevertheless, it did not deter the small gryph's determination. Pulling herself closer, she flopped her head over Grumpy's own.

No hiding!

Grumpy lets out another grunt, wrinkling his nose as he tries to push her off, jerking his head up and down as he attempts to fling her, but to no avail. He starts to wail, practically sounding as if he's demanding she get away.

Retracting a bit, Wish's little face contorted for a moment and she flopped on her side next to Grumpy. Why was he so upset? As her den-mate began to wail, she found herself following suit. She just wanted to play!

Grumpy was always an upset individual, rarely ever contorting to a more happier existence because that just wasn't him. He scowls and rolls away as she starts wailing and he only silences himself. There. Now she'll leave him alone.

He curls up and tucks his nose into his backleg, wriggling his little wings.

What a grump! ... Well, actually yah, he was Grumpy afterall. A few more minutes of wailing prolonged on before Wish finally got herself back together. Wriggling around on her back, she rolled over and pawed at the den mother's fur, snuffing towards her cranky den-brother.

Maybe if she was quieter and less pushy...

Grumpy didn't care less. He enjoyed himself when he was by himself, and Wish pushing him around and trying to plan didn't work. That little blue boy liked to hang out all on his own, and right now, he was nestled close to True Heart's foreleg, ignoring everything else, including Wish's wailing that finally comes down to a halt.

Slowly, quietly, Wish began to inch her way towards Grumpy. A few moments passed, and she was finally up by him once more. Flopping down next to him, she let out a tiny yawn, having somewhat exhausted herself from all the pushing and wailing she had done earlier.

Putting her paws up over her nose, she decided to content herself with just laying next to her den-brother. Too tired to play for the moment anyways.

He doesn't do much when Wish inches her way little by little towards him. Well, aside from curling up tighter into a ball, but he isn't too eager to shove her aside. He'll just choose to ignore her presence for the time being.

Pleased that Grumpy wasn't shoving her away, Wish let out another yawn and stretched a bit, her tail wagging once more. Nestling down she preened happily, letting herself slip off into a nap.

~ You can Fly, you can fly... you can fly! (Part 1) ~

Wish had found her way back to the fields once more. Her den mother had brought a group of chicks down to take in some of the nice sun. Stretching out on a rock, Wish flopped onto her back, sprawling out with her hind leg half hanging off the ledge.

It was such a beautiful day! Perfect for making wishes!

"Lia! Come back here!" Aeryn called out to her horsefly as the winged pinkie did rounds in the sky and fluttered around, chittering its teeth towards its owner's direction before continuing on. The spotty white hippogryph ruffled its somewhat grown wings and tried to catch it but failed. She has having too much fun though, so ending the game of 'tag' would go to a waste.

As soon as Lia came to an opening, its eyes blinked at a rather bright looking newborn and flew over, landing next to it to give it a sniff. "Mm? What is-Oh!" Aeryn was about to ask why the horsefly had stopped and quickly saw why. "Hello there.~" She cooed.

Reaching up with her paws to snug the muzzle that was snuffing her, Wish let out a soft mewling. She couldn't really respond with words, but the look on her little face was bright and happy.

Someone to play with! Her entire body started to wriggle with excitement.

"Aww. Aren't you a cute one!" She giggled and rested her belly against the ground while she placed her head just in front of the infant. Lia on the other hand had taken flight once more and made circles in the air before diving down to perch itself on top of the bright hippogryph's head. Aeryn eyed it for a moment or two then returned her attention to the smaller other. "I wonder what's your name.. Mine is Aeryn! And that horsefly is Lia. We are both pleased to meet you." She stretched out a forepaw and lightly poked the newborn.

Wish did her best to poke back at Aeryn, almost giddy that there was now a horsefly on her head. The little stub of a tail she had was furiously waggling back and forth, a funny site to see as her bottom practically wiggled with it.

She wished she could tell Aeryn what her name was, and that she had a very nice name herself! But alas, when she tried to speak once more, it came out in a shallow, tired whinny. Oh well. When she was bigger maybe!

Blink. Maybe it was trying to speak. But of course hippogryphs could not at that age. So, Aeryn decided to hush and keep quiet, pretending to be like what she was before, excluding the climbing over others bit since she would not want to squish the poor thing. Giggling at the poke, she moved over and curled around Wish, nuzzling the bright newborn's body with her muzzle. Now what did I like to play last time.. I can't really do anything much since I'm bigger than her.. Her eyes twitched in thought as Lia stared at her, mimicking her exact actions... or at least tried to.

Ohh... Aeryn was pretty warm and cozy to nestle down against. She snugged right up into the bigger gryph's side, a sigh of contentment passing her tiny lips. This was nice. And it was such a nice day too!

She'd made a new friend, what a wonderful wish to come true! She couldn't have been happier. Well, maybe if Grumpy were less Grumpy when she went home!

Feeling the snuggle, she peered down at Wish before an idea just went 'Ding!' in her head. I know!' Aeryn rolled over to the side, though as she did... she picked up the fuzzy bright ball and lifted the infant so she would rest within her left wing, as if it was a nest. One... two.. and wee! Aeryn flapped her feathers slightly and adjusted the right amount of energy so that the newborn did be bouncing up and down in a random pattern.

Lia chittered and flew over, following Wish's movements as she was being thrown around.

Oops! On the move again! Wish squeaked excitedly as Aeryn pulled her up into her wings. Wriggling once more she whinnied out when she was thrust up into the air, her tiny wings flapping like a hummingbird, trying to stay up! Alas, she fell back down into the wings, but up she went again!

Everytime she was up, her wings fluttered about wildly. This game was so much fun! It was like she was flying! But not. Wow!

Aeryn could not hold onto her tongue anymore. "Someday you'll be able to have your wings as big as your mammy's and pappy's! Then we could play around in the sky.~" She chirped and happily watched those tiny wings flutter, much like Lia's except they could not support the weight of the young chick. One or two more bounces. Then the game was over, adjusting herself back, she placed Wish back onto her original spot and wondered what they should play next.

Down again. Flopping over the rock, the small chick gryph let out an enormous yawn. That had worn her out a bit! Pushing at the rock, Wish began to attempt to sit up. Struggling, she only managed to flop back down on her side, one ear flopping backwards over her head.

Well, better luck next time! She pawed at the air, looking for Aeryn's muzzle again.

"Aww.." Aeryn shuffled over and got up on her bum. Using both of her front paws, she tried to help Wish balance in order to be able to sit up. The hippogryph was not too sure whether it would work... but there was no harm trying right? After all, there was nothing sharp around to fall on and she was there to protect the chick if anything was to happen! Lia too, apart from the fact that it would be squashed under, almost, anything.

Feeling Aeryn moving her around again, she reached up and clung to her muzzle, letting herself end up sitting on her bottom. Wriggling she padded the soft muzzle and let out a happy coo sound. She was sitting up! Admittedly, not all on her own... but she was up! Up!!

"Yay! You are doing it!"It was warm-heartening to see Wish having a seat on the ground with her help, but the moment her muzzle was caught... Aeryn had this wrinkly feeling in her nose and it was not comfortable... at all. Oh no. Unable to control it, she let out a rough sneeze and that caused her head jerk forwards while her paws fell to the floor, losing their grasp of the infant.

OH NO! Between the force of the sneeze, and the fact she no longer had anything to hold onto, Wish found herself tumbling backwords, flopping off the edge of the rock and onto the ground.

Ow! Trembling a bit, the small gryph began to let out a loud cry. That hurt! Wriggling her body around she tried to get up, but found herself stuck where she was. This simply caused the small chick to cry out again hoping Aeryn was alright and find her.

She really had no concept of distance, and for all her little mind could tell her was that she had been blown far far away!

Shaking her head about, she sneezed once more before the entire uneasy feeling in her nose stopped. Aeryn gave a sigh of relief but... something was missing. "Ack!" The fluff ball was gone! But it took Lia a second to spot Wish, a split second for the spotty hippogryph to hear her cry and find out which direction she had rolled off too.

She hurriedly padded over, a rather short distance, and saw what was the problem. Apparently Wish's butt was stuck within one of those smaller holes. "Let me get you out." Aeryn took hold of the infant by its neck rather gently and tugged slowly. Her horsefly had fluttered behind and was pushing the bright chick with all its little might.

Yay Aeryn! Wish whimpered but was relieved to have been found. She could feel the larger gryph pulling up on her slowly, and the Horsefly pushing against her back. Her but wriggled around in the hole, and she could feel herself moving out of it.

Slowly, slowly.... POP! She came flying up suddenly as the earth released it's grasp from around her.

The moment Wish was free from the hole in the ground, Aeryn fell backwards slightly but quickly caught the newborn and rolled onto the ground. "I hope you are alright! I wouldn't know what I'm gonna do if you're hurt!" She pawed at the ball on her belly and nuzzled her with her muzzle, quite happy about her rescue.

Shaking off the entire situation, Wish had finished whimpering and crying, almost forgetting what had happened entirely. Wriggling about Aeryn's belly, she nuzzled against the larger gryph's fur.

Aeryn was so nice!

~ You can Fly, you an fly... you can fly! (Part 2) ~

"Aww. I guess we won't try that again, huh?" Aeryn stroked the side of Wish's tummy, tilting her head upwards to watch the infant move around and giggled every so often at the tickling. Lia regained its conscious and fluttered weakly over to its owner, landing right next to the fluff ball, panting in a strange manner. It had used half of its energy, which was not a lot really, and obviously needed some rest.

Rolling over onto her tummy after Aeryn' petted her, Wish wrapped a paw over Lia. Snugging the little horsefly she gave a soft yawn and wriggled about. Lia and Aeryn were so nice. She hoped all their wishes would come true...

Lia squeaked at the touch and squirmed around a little since it had been so sudden. Though it only took a while to actually register that Wish had her paw around it and it chittered its teeth in delight. Flipping its long tail about, Lia licked the the infant's cheek in a friendly way, not that it fancied meat of course.

Aeryn smiled and turned over, holding onto the both of them first before she squished them, to let them rest on her back. Her wings neatly folded by her side while she let out a great yawn, ready to fall asleep whenever the time came. She could continue on playing but she was afraid Wish might want to rest for now.

Wish seemed to giggle as Lia licked her cheek. Such a friendly little horsefly. The hug she recieved from Aeryn was sudden, but she was happily hugged. This was a great day!

Content with the current situation, as Aeryn let both herself and Lia onto her back, she stretched out her little body, wriggling with glee. Kneading carefuly a bit of her back, a silly grin crossed the chick's face. She could just stay there forever! She nuzzled her cheek into the back of Aeryn's neck.

Aeryn wagged her tail around lightly as she watched a few younger hippogryphs play, her eyes rolled upwards to find a few mothers flying around in circles, probably either watching or looking for some fresh grass to chew on. Yawning once more, she looked over her shoulders to see how Wish and Lia were doing before turning back. "I wonder how your mammy and pappy are like.~" For some reason, she enjoyed meeting the parents of her other friends, getting to know them so she could hold a closer friendship.
Wish wished that she could tell Aeryn about her den mother and the like. Sadly, she was much to small to do so. Someday she would though. She would introduce Aeryn to her denmother and it would be good.

Letting out a soft chirp, and a small yawn, Wish stretched out once more, curling up next to Lia on Aeryn's back. She was starting to get tired as the day dragged on. Soon it would be sleep time again.

Lia had been the first to fall asleep.

Aeryn giggled at the movement on her back and idly poked at a sunflower shifting around in the breeze. Without much thought, she bit onto it and chewed away, sucking at the limited amounts of honey on its petals. Turning around with the part of plant sticking out from her mouth, she smiled at Wish and extended out her wings to pat the infant on the head, stroking her at the same time.

~ Finding Grumpy ~

Wondering where her blueish brother had tottered off to, Wish was circling the central grounds. Having just come into the ability to walk, talk, and generally get around to do her own thing, Wish had grown accompanied to knowing what was up.

"GRUMPY!" She called out across the plains, after all. He was the only 'brother' she'd really gotten to know.

Bounding along the grass, she popped her head over a rock, noticing familar blue feathers... and hey! White ones too!

The scent on the white one seemed famila... Aeryn?

Oh boy!

She smiled. Yay! Does that mean Grumpy has forgiven her? Or does he even remember what happened between the both of them. For the sake of not having the possibility of being friends with him, Aeryn made sure to push the thought out of her mind. "You're welcome!" She chirped but quietened down almost immediately.

Sooo.. what now? "Are you cold?" She asked him as the wind started to pick up, causing her fur and feather to sway in one direction.

Suddenly her head snapped to whereever the voice had came from and saw a rather bright looking hippogryph... She seemed so familiar.. Those colors. "Hello there!"

He shakes his head. "Nope," he answers, but blinks when he hears his name. His ears pin down against his head, grumbling out in mild annoyance.

"What is it Wish?" he calls back, pushing up to his feet to turn around and look in the direction of where he assumes he heard the voice coming from.

"Grumpy!" Wish grinned, hoping over the rock, catching her foot, rolling and tumbling down the hill before suddenly skidding to a halt in front of the bigger, blue, Gryph.

"I was just looking for you." she grinned, then leaned her head back to look at Aeryn, a grin on her face, "Hi, I know you I think."

She was watching Grumpy and pondered about his reactions when the other hippogryph came trotting along. Seeing how they both had a heart symbol on their body, she assumed they belonged to the same flock. How interesting!

Aeryn giggled and grinned back happily, fluffing up her feathers as she got up onto her four paws. "I believe I know you too! I'm Aeryn.~ We played once when you were so much smaller."

He shakes his head at her, ears swiveling as he stares down at her. "Oh. Do I have to go home?" he asks, sounding albeit disappointed at the possibility that he would have to miss the great storm out here in the open. He didn't much enjoy it from their mountain home.

"No." Wish shook her head and laughed, "Not yet. I just wanted to come see you." she rolled forward and hugged Grumpy's leg.

Wiggling her tail she pondered her meeting with Aeryn, "You pulled me out of the hole, right?" she giggled, "I remember that. We had fun."

Aww. They looked so cute.

"Uh huh! I did.~ So your name is Wish?" Aeryn asked to be certain, since she overheard Grumpy it out loud. The hippogryph giggled and padded over a distance, just to take in the moment of some other hugging onto the blue hippogryph.

"Oh, okay." That made him feel better, knowing he wouldn't have to leave yet. He goes quiet to watch the two of them talk, his ears swiveling.

Turning away from Grumpy's leg, Wish nodded a bit. "Yah, my name is Wish. It's nice to finally see you Aeryn." she wandered over and nuzzled against Aeryn's leg. A friendly greeting.

"I hope I didn't interupt you guys."

She smiled and lowered her chin to nuzzle the top part of Wish's head before sitting back down on the ground. "Hehe, you haven't interupted anything. We were just talking. Isn't that right Grumpy?" Aeryn turned her attention back onto the blue hippogryph, feeling a lot better now.

He shakes his head. "Nope, you didn't interrupt anything, Wish. We were just sitting here watching the lightning and listening to the thunder."

"Okay. I'm glad then." she giggled and padded her paws on the ground.

"I hear we're gonna get a biiiiiiiig storm." Wish puffed herself up a bit to emphasize how 'big' this storm was really gonna be. As though her small form could prove this to them.

She is so adorable. I wonder how their relationship is like. Maybe good friends! Aeryn could not help but widen her smile as Wish puffed up. "Uh huh! And we need to be weary about lightning. Since we are in an open area. Ain't going to be nice if one did strike and cooked us.~" She wiggled and extended out her wings before folding them back together.

"Huh. The chances of that happening are very small," he states with a wrinkle of the end of his muzzle. His little wings spread out and he steps down from the rock as he watches Wish wander off towards home. "Besides, most of the time it doesn't even last long..."

~ TrueHeart and Me ~
Having felt a bit sleepy after talking to Aeryn and Grumpy, and assured her 'brother' would be fine, Wish had started to make her way back towards her flock. Eyeing right, then fluttering her head left, she finally settled on the cupcake coloured gryph she'd been looking for.

TrueHeart.

Picking up her step, a cheerful trot, she padded along the soft ground over to see her.

Majestic white wings stretched out as TrueHeart examined the sky above, her eyes focused on the clouds, watching them dance about. It was another peaceful day and with the youngin's off on their own to explore, she decided to take it easy. But so happened one of the infants was makings its way over, and it turned out to be Wish.

A smile that forever stayed upon her lips greeted Wish. She turned around fully and awaited till the smaller hippogryph was near enough before she did ask. "Is there anything you need?"

Wish let her bottom drop to the ground and smiled up at her 'mother'. TrueHeart was sooooo pretty. Shaking her head she chirped out a "No!"

Stretching her legs she tilted her head a bit and wiggled her muzzle, "I just wanted to come over and sit with you."

She let out a soft chuckle at Wish's response. "Well then, I dearly appreciate your company. Thank you."

TrueHeart allowed her form to rest upon the ground, leaving a small distance between the infant and herself. "I was just admiring the sky and how peaceful it has been recently... But anyway, what have you been up to Wish? Made any new friends from the other flocks?"

Wish let herself fall onto her back, legs kicking up in the air. She seemed to be admiring her toes wiggling about. As TrueHeart spoke, her head nodded enthusiastically.

"Yup yup! I met this nice Gryph named Aeryn. She's all white and spotty! She has a horsefly too, but I didn't see it today. I dunno what flock she's from though..." she let her legs drop down to the ground as she thought,

"But she not from ours. I like her though." she reached down again, grabbing onto her paws, "She was fun to play with."

"Oh? That's wonderful to hear. I'd like to meet your new friend someday, perhaps." She watched Wish in amusement while her head lowered to weigh down onto her right paw as the other stretched out to pat the infant on the head softly. TrueHeart did encourage that the younger chicks build up relationships with those of the other flocks, as long as they are weary of themselves. Friendship was a fabulous thing.

"Would you like a horsefly of your own, Wish? Most of them are great companions when you are alone with nothing to do."

"Maybe someday I would wish for one." she grinned as her head was patted, reaching her paws up to wrap around the bigger one.

"Happy now though." she wiggled, "And I think you should meet Aeryn, she's even being friends with Grumpy!"

Her paw moved around lightly, as if she was trying to pick up Wish or just remove it from the tiny grasp. "I hope your wish will come true then."

Pink orbs widened slightly at the mention of the blue infant's name. "Oh? She is? I'm glad to hear that." As much as she did with the other chicks of the flock, TrueHeart cared for Grumpy very much and often watched over him; how he reacted with everyone else. Sometimes she would worry as well. "How is their friendship as of now?"

Wish let herself be lifted a bit into the air before releasing TrueHeart's paw, letting herself fall back to the ground.

"Well... they seem pretty okay with eachother. Grumpy wasn't really grumping at her when I saw them... I think that's good." She was also glad that her brother seemed to be making a friend. He needed more.

Just as she was about to fall, TrueHeart extended out a wing and caught the infant, then allowed Wish to roll down onto her back and rest there.

"Oh? That's marvelous!" She seemed a little surpised for a moment before quickly returning to her normal expression. Well, this news did make her feel rather joyous inside. Grumpy was making friends! And friends were good of course. "Do you plan to keep an eye on them? You could be a little scout."

~ What an Adventure! ~

Wish was sitting herself on a rock, swiviling her head from side to side. It was such a lovely day out. She was really enjoying it.

Stretching her back, she began to pad off the rock, wandering down towards a shadey spot. It was a bit warm today and she wanted to get out of the sun.

Was there ever a time that Lirit wasn't in the near proximity of a stream? Apparently not.

The young Gryph seemed to be attracted to narrow, flowing bodies of water like a little kid was to a candy store. Whether it was deliberate or subconcious, the tall, lanky creature always managed to find himself in an open field with some sort of body of water.

Trotting alongside it quite carelessly, offensively eyeing a butterfly, he kept in check, careful not to fall into the stream as he'd done so many times before... When he noticed a lightly colored Gryphon not too far off.

Puffing his chest out pridefully, Lirit turned directions, heading over to Wish diligently.

"Hello." he started, looking down upon the smaller creature with confidence. "Who're you?"

Suddenly having a bit of a shadow cast in her direction, Wish turned to see a slightly larger, boy gryph making his way over.

"Hi." she chirped happily as he spoke to her, "I'm Wish..." she paused, tilting her head at him.

"Who're you?"

Lirit grinned triumphantly, making sure that his chest was properly puffed out and his legs were holding him as tall as he could possibly muster before he spoke back.

"Lirit," he said coolly, watching the littler Gryph with a small, hardly intimidating smile. "Watcha doing out here?" he striked casually, finally relaxing a bit. She was just a little Gryph... He didn't need to act all big, tough and macho just to makes friends with her, surely.

"Well..." she started, letting her bottom fall to the ground, "I was just sitting on a rock for a little while. I was letting the sun hit my belly." she grinned.

"But then it got really warm, so I was wandering over here to get in the shade." she nodded.

"I'm just waiting around until TrueHeart says we're going home." she let herself flop onto her side, wiggling her toes a bit.

"Isn't it nice out?"

It took only a fraction of a second for Lirit to become alarmed. "TrueHeart? There's another Gryph around here?" Not good! Had Lirit let his macho guard down too soon? Becoming anxious, the boy decided that it would be best to become resituated with his inflated ego once more. Raising an eyebrow skeptically, Lirit re-entered "tough" mode. After all, how else were you supposed to make friends if you didn't try your very best to come off intimidating and superior?

"Anyway... That sounds pretty boring. You were just lying there? What about exploring?" he suggested with a small, sly grin, wagging his tail slowly as his ears swiveled around.

"..." Wish raised an eyebrow as Lirit puffed himself all up once more.

"TrueHeart is one of the leaders of my flock, silly. Of course she's around! Not near here though. Off further into the fields." she stretched a bit again before rolling over onto her belly.

"Lying around wasn't boring either. It was really nice. Relaxing." her tail wiggled a bit.

"Exploring?" she blinked, "I don't really go exploring."

Lirit relaxed, both physically and mentally when Wish explained that TrueHeart wasn't actually coming... Well, not now, at least. His brain seemed to fix for a moment before he refocused his attention back to the little Gryph, and his body shrunk a bit, allowing him to relax and appear like an actual normal creature once more.

At Wish's bizzare (in his opinion, at least) reaction to his suggestion of exploring, Lirit's face lit up instantly.

"Yes, exploring, of course." he insisted with an almost playful grin, and he picked his head up slightly, his snout pointing at the sky. Flaring his nostrils, he sniffed the air. The weather was lovely... Though you didn't exactly need to smell the air to notice the cloudless sky.
"C'mon, it'll be fun. I promise," he tried coaxing her happily. Most of the time he wandered around alone- perhaps going with someone would be more fun.

"Well..." Wish pulled herself up to her feet again, padding lightly at the ground, shaking a bit of dust off her feet.

"If you really want to, I suppose we can then." she grinned and wiggled her nose.

"Where are we gonna go exploring to?"

Lirit nearly yelped out a gigglish 'yay!', but restrained himself, mentally making a note that manly, tough Gryphs didn't giggle- nor did they squeal the word 'yay'. Instead, Lirit cleared his throat a bit, allowing his good natured grin to widen just a bit. His tail wagged slightly, flicking at his flank before he spoke.

"Into the forest, of course. Where else?" he responded as if it were the most obvious answer possible. Smiling cheerfully, Lirit muttered something along the lines of 'follow me' as he trotted past Wish, heading towards the collection of trees in the near distance.

"So what kind of a name is Wish?" he asked judgementally, hoping that the smaller Gryph could keep pace with him.

"The forest? But.. isn't that dangerous?" her words were half warning, half inquiring as she began to trot along behind Lirit. Her brow furrowed slightly with concern.

"Wish is the same sort of name as 'Lirit'." she retorted with amusement in her voice. "It's the one I have and the one gryph's call me by."

What a silly question to ask.

"Dangerous?" Lirit harbored an awful habit of mimicking what others said. "Of course not," he added hastily- though despite the quickness of his voice, he seemed very confident in his answer.

Grinning smally as Wish gave her witty comment, Lirit seemed content with her response. Bobbing his head mildly as they walked, it wasn't long before the pair reached the beginnings of the forest.

"Stay close behind, now," he advised shortly before disappearing into the thicket, careful to not trip over stray roots and such.

"Well... alright then." Wish's ears pinned back as they reached the forest. She was fairly certain that they were not supposed to go in there.

It's too dangerous for little gryphs she recalled older members of the flock saying. She was pretty certain Grumpy wouldn't have vouched for an idea like this either.

But she had said she would go. So, she was following after Lirit still. Besides, it was safer if you didn't go alone, right? Afterall if someone got hurt there would be someone to help them!

Yah, that was a good idea. Lirit would have likely gone alone if she hadn't agreed to follow along, so this was for the best.

"Okay." she nodded as Lirit advised her to stay close behind him. Once he entered the thrush of the forest, Wish quickly scampered along to keep up.

Miraculously she didn't trip over anything.

Lirit grinned happily, very pleased to see that Wish was keeping up. True, she didn't seem nearly as enthusiastic as he was about exploring- but that was alright. Maybe if she enjoyed herself, he'd've given her a new hobby! If Lirit knew the turmoil that was presently going on in Wish's mind, though, he probably would've thought twice about dragging the reluctant Gryph inside.

However, Lirit was no mind reader. He was, however, enjoying himself. As much as he'd never admit it- there were flowers here in the forest that you'd never be able to see lying out in a clearing. But he was a manly-man!... Who didn't like flowers. Not at all. Not even if they tasted sweet like honey.

... Not like he would know. He'd never eaten a flower before.

Smiling still cheerfully, it was a moment before Lirit completely stopped in his tracks. Ears pinning against the curve of his skull defensively, he stuck a paw out, obstructing Wish's path. "Hey," he whispered in a small hiss, "Quiet. Stay still." it was probably nothing- but still, something had alarmed Lirit. But what had it been?

Wish hadn't really noticed any noise at all, her head was to filled with thoughts and confusion...

And then her face was full of Lirit paw. "mfph fgh..." she stopped as he told her to be quiet and still. The younger gryph practically froze in step. What was going on?

Surely she heard it? Lirit wasn't crazy, he knew that he'd heard someth-

And there it was again. It was nothing louder then a gentle, barely audible twig snapping beneath someone- or something's paw, foot, claw... Lirit couldn't tell just by listening. His brow arched slightly, and he took a step foward.

"Hello?" he hissed dumbly, not realizing that attracting attention from his unknown thing probably wasn't the best course of action to take. It wasn't long, though, before a pair of gleaming yellow eyes were exposed from the brush, seconds later followed by a silky black coated... cat? No, it was too primitive looking to be a cat. Whatever it was started to hiss softly, watching the two Gryphs from a safe distance.

Peering around Lirit, Wish's eyes went wide as this strange, black furred creature appeared. It didn't look to happy...

It also appeared to have rather sharp teeth. Which likely meant, it also had very sharp claws. Wish swore she could feel her heart jump up into her throat then. Her little body tensed and she took a few steps back away from the scene.

Lirit's forepaws relaxed and tensed, and it wasn't long before the Gryph spoke, his voice laced with apprehension.

"Could we pass through here? We don't mean to bother ya," he mumbled, though he made a point to articulate his voice so that he wouldn't have to stand here making a long conversation with this predatory-looking creature.

The panther's tail flicked anxiously behind him. He was still a cub, but panthers were built large by nature. He wasn't as big as Lirit, but he had a few inches over Wish. A soft, aggressive growl began to bubble in the pit of the panthers throat, and it's claws detracted from it's forepaws slowly. You should have thought twice before coming through this way. I live here- the creature paused, rephrasing himself. My mother and I live here. She won't be happy if I tell her there have been two strange things walking around... The panther seemed to be calculating something in his midn. I'll let you pass, though, if you give me that little one behind you. Mum will be very proud of me if I tell her I've hunted down something almost my size all on my own! Grinning wickedly, the panther remained stationary, it's gleaming eyes unmoving on Wish and Lirit.

A snarl claimed the Gryph's face. He had just met Wish! He wasn't going to let a potential friend- someone he'd spent a good amount of time trying to impress into friendliness- become eaten by this thing! Returning the small growl, Lirit narrowed his eyes at the thing.
"No deal. Let us pass through, or you'll be sorry!" he threatened, though it was clear that Lirit wasn't much of a match for the panther... Well, it seemed that way, at least.

Wish frowned lightly. What was this silly gryph doing!?

"Lirit... c'mon let's go. We can get back to the clearing and explore another place, okay? I bet there's lots of interesting things further on." she attempted to coax him, not wanting to see a fight.

Fights were bad. She wished Grumpy were there. He was bigger than her and likely could talk Lirit out of it better. Or maybe have convinced him not to go in the first place.

"Please?"

Lirit returned the frown, turning his head at a slight angle to see Wish.

"But I wanted to go into the forest! Besides, he doesn't own the woods... You can't let things like this just make you leave," he tried to reason. This panther was acting like a bully- Lirit didn't think it was right to try and play king of the forest. Not when he wasn't the king, at least.

"Don't worry- he won't eat you," he added bluntly, staring very plainly at Wish. "He won't. Definitley won't. Besides..." he started thinking again, knowing this was a bad idea. "Besides, I can fly! You can just hop onto my back and we'll fly right over him," he lied fluently, smiling smally.

"Then we can make faces and stick our tongues out at him," he added under his breath, before he turned back to the panther, who was glaring feircely now.

What are you two talking about? Hurry up, then. Either give me the small one or get out of my forest!

"Shouldn't start a fight..." Wish warned quietly. She wasn't even certain that it was this little creature she was most concerned about.

It was the word 'mother' that kept repeating in her mind. Which meant 'bigger' and 'more dangerous'.

She shook her head at his suggestion of hopping on his back. Even if he could fly, she was more than certain that her weight would discourage that.

Finally defeated, Lirit gave a heartfelt sigh. Closing his eyes for a moment, gathering up all the dignity he could muster, he mumbled in a soft voice.

"We'll be leaving." he answered in a hiss of a voice, glaring cruelly at the smirking panther.

Keep in mind that if you ever decide to tread in my forest again, I'll make sure that you'll regret it.

Lirit turned around slowly, giving Wish a slight nudge on her shoulder, suggesting that she leave first so Lirit could cover behind her.

And next time I won't be so nice! the cub panther shouted, his gleaming yellow eyes narrowed before he disappeared back into the thicket, leaving the retreating Gryphs in silence.

Wish nodded her little head and began to trot out of the thicket. She was most pleased that Lirit had decided against fighting. She really hadn't wanted to see something like that.

Fighting was never a good answer.

Once the brush cleared out from around her she was happy to see the clearing again. Wow! She'd have so much to tell her family now!

Well, at least Wish was pleased. That made a total of... one of them. Still, he couldn't help but feel just a tad bit elated at making her happy. Generally Lirit was simply the one making people grumpy or agitated. This was a nice change.

"Alright, well we did my thing, and it wasn't much fun... What do you do besides lay around?" he asked, sincerely curious for once. Pausing as they reached the clearing, Lirit turned a bit to face Wish, a small grin on his muzzle.

Wish turned a circle and bounced happily. Her entire body wriggled at the question.

"Play games of course!" she chirped excitedly. Oh yes, games were just the best thing in the world!

She recalled playing games with Aeryn when she was still to small to see. They had been a lot of fun though. Since then she'd taken up playing with others in the flock. Tag, hide and seek, whatever sounded like fun at that time.

"Games?" there he went again. Lirit could've been a professional echo if he wanted to be- it didn't seem like there was any time when he didn't repeat one word or another.

This time, though, it was clear that Lirit had no idea whatsoever as to what Wish was talking about. "What's a game?" he asked sincerely, raising an eyebrow, his voice laced with curiousity as he sat down across from the now enthusiastic Gryph. A small, sheepish grin played across his face as he tried not to appear dumb for not knowing what a 'game' was.

This was the second time Asajj found herself in this place. It was much warmer than most of her home, almost as warm as herfavorite place, but the warmth felt different. The air wasn't as heavy and her nostrils twitched, taking in the cool air.

She could hear a some older gryph nearby. Kind of. It was hard still, but she could tell it was improving. Her eyes still didn't function very well, but not knowing any better, she took it in stride.

With little else to do, she rolled onto her back, paws curled over, letting the warm sun beat down on her underbelly. She liked the sun.

Wish was snuffing around the fields. It was such a lovely day out and she was happily enjoying it. She'd left the care of her Den mother and was happily meandering about. After the scare with Lirit she was a little less apt to merrily hit up the forest.

But this was fine.

As she continued along, something caught her attention, something very out of place. Turning her head she noticed a really white gryph. White and black. It seemed to have some sort of thing wrapped around it. Wandering over she put her nose down by it's head.

"Hello?"

"Eraa?"

Asajj chirped her curiosity. Was she being talked to? She rolled back onto her belly and struggled to push her front end up to sniff around better. Another gryph she hadn't been with before was nearby. It spoke, but was still young, just a little older than Asajj.

"Euuuu!"

"Hehehe." the care gryph giggled at the funny noises Asajj was making. Putting her muzzle down by the littler one's paws she snorted air at her, grinning.

How cute!

It was making a funny noise!

Asajj giggled too, not understanding the nature of laughter, it still didn't occur to her she was being laughed at.

The creature snorted at her paw, the ari tickling her fur and she flopped back down, grabbit the other gryphs snout in either paw. Did it want to play?

Wish wiggled her nose as Asajj grabbed at it. She grinned and suddenly stuck her tongue out, licking the chick.

It was so nice to have other people to play with. It was also pretty awesome to come across a chick who wasn't sleeping. Part of her, however, wondered where the little one's den mother was.

She must be nearby however, so no big worries.

Now what was that gryh doing? It wasn't her bath time. She curled her back and brought her back feet around to the top of Wish's head, enveloping it. Now lets go someplace!

Hey.. waitaminute! What! No!!!

Making a few odd noises, Wish began to quickly lament sticking her face near the chick's paws. Her head was now being clung to by the little one. What was she going to do?

She wasn't strong enough to actually lift the little one up on her head.. she wasn't that much bigger! She'd likely break her neck if she did. She began to wriggle about, trying not to jostle Asajj too much. She just needed her to let go!

Realizing the error of clinging to the gryph's face, she let it go, a faint apologetic whimper pushing past her closed lips. Okay. Can't play that game.

Asajj rolled onto her front, suddenly rustrated with her own inabilities. She firmly set her paws beneath her and began to push. With all her might she tried to lift herself up so she could run and play with the other gryph.

It wasn't going so well, and her limbs were beginning to ache.

Wish coughed a bit once Asajj 'detached' herself.. Watching the chick attempt to get up she quickly lay down next to her and put herself close to the ground.

"You're gonna hurt yourself!" she chirped out worriedly. Knowing that the gryph really wasn't going to be able to understand her regardless.

The other gryph was probably right, and Asajj settled with her current plight. There was no sense in rushing these things, so she tried to focus on what she could do.

She Nudged wish with her head, pushing with some force, but always in a palyful manner. She seemd to understand playfighting best.

Wish grinned and nudged the newborn back, giggling. She was sure to be rather gentle. She didn't want to hurt little Asajj! That wouldn't be very good at all.

She wondered what the little gryph had big black marks around her eyes. She'd never really seen anything like that before... and the skirt! She nudged it a bit with a paw. How strange it felt. Not like fur at all!

Yeay!

Asajj nudged back, this time putting her weight into it, trying to knock the other gryph on it's side, but suddenly she felt the ground drop out from under her and her paws wiggled in the air. She was set down a foot away and her den mother spoke.

"No horseplay."

She looked to the young, pale green gryph then back to Asajj, picking her up and taking her over to where her den mother could keep a better eye on her.

I never get to have any fun..

Wish blinked as the little Gryph was suddenly lifted off. The heavy gaze of the Northern Den Mother caused a ripple of fear to quickly pass through her... but it passed when she realized that she was just looking out for the well being of her chick.

She chirped off towards Asajj, a friendly 'see ya!' noise, then began to scamper off towards her own Den again. It was almost time to go home anyways.
