Very good, but the LGBT struggle doesn't really compare to the African American struggle....

How doesn't it? Given, GLBTQ people were never slaves. They are fighting to be seen as humans; no more, no less. That's what the African Americans wanted.

Whether or not they were enslaved doesn't matter.
By the time the black civil rights movement came around, slavery had been over for a LOOOOOONG time.

I can see her point though. Although it's not physical slavery, it is a deprivation of civil rights. Almost metaphorical slavery? The same with the parades and "pride" business. I see a very distinct parallel.
