At the used bookstore I picked up all the vintage 80s cross stitching books they had (which weren't very many, sadly) and I love 'em for all their 80s-ness. But I've never seen a modern cross stitching magazine. I have seen catalogues that sell patterns and frames, but never any that come with ptterns printed inside, and the cutesy fan letters and articles about what and where you can put your stitching when finished, etc.
Does anyone know if there are any magazines like that to be found? The internet is fun, but it's also exciting just to get patterns in the mail without looking for something specific and having to print it out oneself.

I've seen some magazines like that at Michael's. But I don't know what the title was. You just have to look hard. smile

Quote: Hehe, 80's x-stitch stuff rocks. My mom worked for a x-stitch mag in the 80's and I love looking through them lol. I have a couple modern mags. I have the last two Just Cross Stitch Christmas ornament magazines. They have a ton of patterns in them, going from really easy to really hard. The only problem with them is that a lot of them take different brands of floss and they don't give the DMC equivalents, so you have to look them up online. They have a website here. I also have one from Better Homes and Gardens called Cross Stitch Christmas, which has a variety of stuff, ornaments, bell pulls, a lot of stuff. There's no website for this one, I think it just comes out once a year for Xmas. I have another one called Cross Stitch Gold which is my fave and it's a British mag. It's got a bunch of big, full patterns. Their website is here. I've wanted to subscribe to one, but typically there is only one or two patterns I really want to do in a given mag, so I like to look at them before I buy one. My Michael's and Joann's doesn't really have any to speak of, I always have to go to a bookstore. My Barnes and Noble has a huge selection. Also I tend to like the patterns in the British mags more and they are a bit more pricey because of shipping.

Well, I bought myself two books with patterns. One is "101 Bears with personality" and the other one is "99 cross-stitch luvable pets". They are really cute. And I also bought this kit named Bonsai and Buddha, it will fit perfectly to my future room.

At Barnes & Noble, where I work, we have a fair amount of cross stitching magazines. British ones are more popular than the american ones. Well, at least there are more of them.
